- Tone...Tradition...Innovation. Fender's new American Deluxe Stratocaster HSS is for guitarists who want a little more from their axes. A compound radius fretboard allows effortless string bending anywhere along the neck, and two new N3 NoiselessTM pickups provide improved Stratocaster tones while the DH-1 humbucking bridge pickup has more output for fatter lead tones all with no hum. Reconfigured S-1TM switching offers other distinctive tonal options. The all-new "passing lane" switch instantly routes your signal from any pickup position to the bridge position with the tone circuit bypassed, giving you more overtones and a little more volume. Other features include staggered locking tuners, LSR roller nut, two-point synchronized American Deluxe tremolo bridge with pop-in arm, and beveled neck heel.

In 2020,it's still my go to guitar. Bought it because of this video 6 years ago. Thank you for this 🙏
I’ve had this model since 2015 in Olympic Pearl. Had to take it to have the S1 button repaired. It was put into a pleck box and smoothed down. Sounds awesome now.
I had to come here to find out what the two extra buttons actually do.
I love mine. Have had it for 8 years now. Still one of my favorite guitars. Strings bend like butter.
Bought this guitar about 2 months ago and love it to bits. Great guitar, beautiful sounds and VERY versatile too. Cant recommend it highly enough!!!!!
Love this dudes Playing! I watched his riff at the beginning a 100 times. Love playing it!
thanks for showing the clean tones. everyone else demonstrates them behind a wall of distortion.
Awesome guitarist! So nice hearing some outside fusion lines on a Strat.
I bought an identicle strat to this about 8 months ago and love it. Very versatile and totaly noiseless, who cares if its not as chimey as a regular strat! My last strat was realy terrible and was one of the reasons I got rid of it....I should have bought one of these in the first place! happy days :) oh and this video helped me to decide to get it so thanks for a great demo Robert!!
Thanks Mark. Excellent playing and very informative, you and Greg Koch are the best at demoing guitars online....
Nice playing many years later
Nice to see the S1 switch demonstrated. Some don't show it. Also shows the limitations of the humbucker 'passing lane' switch. No tone/volume control available and it reverts to the humbucker alone once the switch is pressed, regardless of what position the pickup switch is at. Thanks for an informative review. I liked it. I personally want to know what the guitar can do rather than criticise the playing and appearance of the reviewer. My Deluxe HSS strat sounds different to this when I play it. He is not playing shit, he is trying to help you choose a guitar, and you will get a different sound to him even if you have the same settings.
You play so tastefully, I love it!
awesome demos... so cool to hear great jazz ideas sounding meaty on a strat... it what i wanted to hear....
Will do..... Thank you so much for the help and swift responses
Nice guitar tasty playing..and excellent choice of pedals.Good job Mr!!!
I love your playing style
Hello I'm Bob Vance from Vance refrigeration. Love the video, love that guitar even more!
thats a very nice guitar sunburst very beautiful my favourite colour
thanks, that clarified and explained a lot for a dummy like me.
cheers
Cool licks their man! Good guitar player.
finally someone that is not using the blues scale.. awesome!

@10Sunburst I think it is you get the compound radius on the fingerboard, you get the locking tuners, the noiseless pickups, the LSR roller nut, the S1 switching, and the blower switch. $1364.99 with case and free shipping at nstuffmusic
Enjoyable and informative.
It's a Fender Hot Rod Deville 212 combo with a Xotic BB Plus pedal.
I have Seymour SSL-1's and a Seymour '59 hybrid trembucker in my HSS and now it sounds amazing. The stock pups, although very noiseless, nice and clean sounding, were too sterile. The Seymours gave it that dirtied up vintage tone, which, if you like the way strats and les pauls sounded in the 60's and 70's you'll want to go ahead and do for yourself.
Loved all the playing in this video! Some great licks!
Thanks, Mark!
pretty much the best config for a strat imo
@Zelmquist it turns the humbucker on...So it would be mixed with the neck pickup
I have to tell you...I like the pickups, granted the N3 give you a little more midrangey and are not chimey as the regular strat single coil, but they do the job nicely. And the noise free factor is awesome!!
Thanks for your reply... I managed to make it go both ways....
@LfunkeyA Agreed, H for the heavier stuff and neck + middle (my fav strat pu combination) for bluesy stuff.
love your playing!!!!
Exlente demoatracion de esta linda guitarra fender
@ThyKingdomComeBand I think the HSS make the Strat a little more versatile. The humbucker will help for the Zeppelin stuff but the Foyd and Blues will be more of the single coil.
Hey guys,
would totally appreciate it if you could demo the s1 switch sounds on this guitar a bit more detailed - demos from the regular SSS- Version gave me the impression that this guitar could sound pretty much like a tele (especially if you put the neck and bridge PU parallel). I wonder how that position of the S1 sounds like on a HSS strat...
Love your demos anyway!
@dedetube The Deluxe and the Standard have the same neck shape but the Deluxe has a compound radius on the fingerboard.
Great playing and demo!!! And is that a fart I heard between 5:11 and 5:13? LOL!
Excellent review and some sweet playing!
$1699 US or $1699 CDN. I bought one yesterday for $1699 before tax. It came with a leather strap and a cleaning kit. Plus the guy was nice and threw in a tuner that attached to the head stock.
i love my usa fender 2016 hss shawbucker with fat 50s this is my 1st fender i allways had a tokia strat copy that i bought in the early 80s maple neck i though it sounded good but my fender strat blows me away running through a laptop and line 6 75watt amp love fender
Hey Mark. Love your playing mate! Could you plse do a review on the: Fender American Deluxe Stratocaster HSH. Thanks in advance.
Peace and Tone
Thanks alot. I recently purchased one for 750$ too. Thanks to you.....
This video is much better than most, but I am trying to figure out, what I am buying. You have done the best job so far, so well done, but in 20 seconds on a search engine, I found out 90% of what you said, which beats most everyone, but it noted that Bill Lawrence, asked to make the first noiseless pickups, used a rare Earth metal, Somarium Cobalt, but the N3 pickups are now Alnico, the magnet used in the past. * I still don't know what that "humbucker" is. I have heard guitars before. I wanted to know why I should buy a new generation Deluxe Strat? This is the best job I have seen yet. I still am looking for what the humbucker is and did it change. Not hating, but it should take me 20 min of watching videos to find out what the specs are, why the may be better, did they change, but this is the best video so far. I will keep looking to see what the humbucker is. This is nice advice and not trolling. Well done. I am not annoyed by this video, but trying to find out what the humbucker is, but this is the best video so far! Take care! Be Safe!
Im happy because About 3 and half Mouths ago I have my Frist American Guitar I have is a fender American Standard Stratocaster is 3-tone Sunbrust with Rosewood Fretboard I change a Tuners with Fender Locking Tuners. On my Fender America. Standard and I change the pickups too with Custom shop Texas special pickups
The pickup should not wobble around. There are 3 screws you can adjust for the pickup. I would make the pickup about 1/4" below the string.
I definitely like the Deluxe better it has the noiseless pickups, the compound radius, the locking tuners and LSR roller nut to make it stay in tune better, It has the blower switch to engage the humbucker in any position. $1559.99 with hard case and free shipping at nstuffmusic with coupon code FENDER35
@N4KUM4 The HSS would be more versatile, but the SSS would be able to do just about anything you wanted it too as well. Best bet would be to try both with all styles of music you want to play, and see which one you like the best.
Mine is a 2000 not a scratch on it , 3 color sunburst and the LSR nut.
It only has the 9.5 and no S1 switch but it feels beautiful is quility
@tannerthomason The compound radius is much more comfortable as far a s a playability standpoint. Especially on the strat. Soloing is much easier! I would buy the deluxe for that feature alone.
I Luv my Fender Guitar
The 2-point screws raise the height of the tremolo.
Awesome!! Thanks Boss!!
0:26 - 0:35 Great Sound!!
Question, Can a after market mod be done to this by adding an original floyd? I really would love to see fender do this exact model but with a OFR bridge... i'd be all over it...
We have to charge shipping to any place outside of the continental USA
According to the tracking info, it will reach today.....
Will let you know once it does..... Also, am gonna need your help in the future with regards to this Strat
@NstuffMusic i like to keep it in drop D makes it easyer to hit some of the chords
@JesusWorship7 Around 6 or 7 as far as the indicators on the knobs go.
@RyanDanielBrown2011 If it is set up properly it should. I think the big question is are you changing that tuning around between standard and drop D or is it staying at drop D?
i really want to get my hands on this one and then put a Wilde L500XL in the bridge.
@kaspermaertens Ouch....two different guitars....One of each would work!!! I would say the Deluxe HSS would be a little more versatile.
@N4KUM4 The HSS version is the more versatile guitar you can play blues and rock.
For any of you that have never tried a G&L thats what this is trying to be.......they finally started trying to make a fender thats as good as a G&L
@LfunkeyA I think a single coil at the bridge sound too thin anyway, and you can still get that in between sound instead of a humbucker (I assume it splits the coil?).
@yekshemesh4alig
i don't know if it does, but yeah humbucker in the bridge is much better for lead than single
Hey guys! A little question. What's the different between lonestar and Strat HSS? It's only the switch in the volumen pick?
Don’t really get the Passing Lane button. Couldn’t you just knock the selector down to the bridge? Same effort, no?
ibanez's have the pop-in arm too.
Me gusta mucho
Hi Mark, great review.
Nstuff music sell Parker Guitars?
Can u do a review about Parker Guitars DF524 Maxx Fly Natural Satin?
Thanks a lot, great work
So, any idea why they only have the roller nut on the HSS Strat and not the SSS? way back when I first saw the Deluxe it had it on the SSS and I was shocked to see it no longer on it, any idea when they changed this and why as I asked? :) this is a GREAT sounding guitar but I am really leaning towards the SSS because it is the classic look
thanks a brunch!! I did it....
American special or deluxe ? I love the single coil tone, but I'm worried about deluxe not having "real" singlecoil pickups
Hi Mark, bwt this one and a standard do u think it's worth it to spend an extra buck to by a deluxe instead of a std? thx
Hate the curve on the neck heel. I wanted to buy one of these necks and put it on my mia body but with the curve you can not.
No free shipping if your out of the country.
does it have stainless steel frets?
hey mark question if you tune the strat to drop D will it stay in tune when you dive bomb the trem thats a problem ive been having for a long time im a studio player the styles i play range from metal to jazz to country to blues so i need the trem to stay in tune
Today just bought brand new. If u find it, buy it. 😍😍😍😍
@oswa0714006 Sorry we do not sale Parker guitars.
mmm i got a great idea,,whats that? lets put a button in it that switches from the neck to the bridge?? i hope that guy got a rise for that little gem haha...
Can you raise the pitch with the two-point synchronized tremolo bridge?
Hello I'm Dr. Steve Brule.
@NstuffMusic Does the deluxe have thinner neck than the standard??
I have this guitar...just curious, what is your main guitar?
HEy Mark in what level you use generally the presence knob??
Can I ask something similar about the 2 point bridge.. I have a G&L strat with a similar bridge and I don't use the trem.. so I lowered the bridge with the screws, all the way down, so it has minimal movement when I push a little with my hand .. do you know if the bridge metal can bend slightly or the screws get damaged if I keep it this way without blocking off the trem with a block etc... thanks
Not its a 2002 model. Used one actually
How different is the fretboard on the american deluxe compared to the american standard?
Would you prefer the n3 or the scn noiseless pickups?
Please help a Deluxe or a Standard Strat? Let both be HSS.....
groovy
SOMEONE HELP!! I have a Deluxe just like this and the Tremolo bar is a "click-in" style and I hate it I want to find a different one but cant find one that is like a standard strats screw in bar. I want it to be like the standards Trem that is longer and curved please help what can I do!?!?
Did you study the blues scales?
does free shipping include non US countries ?
Trying to see if i should trade my fender American pro strat for this same guitar. Anybody have any input?
does this one cost like 1499 EURO?
Whats the amp and od?
i dont like super flat necks on fenders, they feel less like fenders
