I use old sauce containers etc little see through plastic containers as pallette for 1 colour goauche. I first mix it in that little container and then when I have finished that, then I might then put another colour in there. Then crumbling isn't a bother. I use some very, very old Caran D'ache Gouache from more than 30 years ago. I donät think they are sold any more but I saw this video that you can save your dried gouache by cutting the tube open, put it in a glass jar with a little bit of water and that's what I did. Of course it's not the same as from the tube and I have Talen's tubes too but while I'm learning goauche, I decided to use the Caran D'ache tubes although I am aware there are colours that are now considered toxic waste, so I have to be carefull with some of them. But it's better to use the ones I have even though they are dried. On the matter of watercolours, I would not say White Nights are not used by professionals. It's one of THE watercolours to use by pros especially in the regions near Russia (like Finland) and the price is excellent and they are such excellent colours to mix! However since the war we don't really get to them in Europe anymore (At least in Finland the White nights watercolour is one of those commodities that are no longer sold after they run out of stores here) and personally I have used this as opportunity to explore other brands of watercolours instead of sticking to White Nights only. I just went to Germany and bought my first schmincke and DS Primatek paints. Although White nights are probably forever my favourites, there are other hundreds of years old brands doing excellent job as well.
I highly recommend brushes Winsor & Newton Sceptre gold II. they are made from a mix of synthetic and sable, because of this they are not very expensive, but very good for watercolor, very very good.
For Brushes, try Betty Hayways! They are amazing for watercolours but work really well with gouache too! They come in sets with very tiny ones too and all have thin sharp tip.
I NEED to try those hahnemuhle sketchbooks! 😍 I almost bought the grey one before but got scared because it was sealed in the shop so I couldn’t tell how grey it would be, but it looks really subtle here. Also, dorlands wax medium 🙌🏻🙌🏻✨ you’ve finally got it! it’s amazing isn’t it? Absolutely essential for something like the etchr where the gouache transfers everywhere
It's easy to clean the brushes. just wash them with soap and warm water. Recently, i've started using CONDITIONER instead of soap. (Or any other hand cream). Conditioner, restores any dried up brush to its former glory.
Your links for the fluid watercolor paper 4x6 and 6x6 are the same. Thanks so much for the ideas! I'm going to pick up the wax medium through your link, hopefully you'll get credit for it! Also, did you see Holbein Acryla Gouache has a set with 102 colors?! It's insane! They have 104 colors total. I've been saving up, lol! I love your videos 💜
I just discovered your channel with this video, and I'm so excited that I did! Your art is incredibly beautiful and charming. Your animals are Amazing 🥰. I love your Axolotl, and that otter literally made me gasp aloud. I'm really excited to check out your courses, so of course I subscribed😊. Do you have an online shop where you sell your stickers? Your girlfriend could easily sell tons of those shell palettes on a platform like Etsy, were she so inclined. I'd be first in line 😉. I also have ADHD, and a million makeup brushes as well as art brushes. I also have rheumatoid arthritis, so It's gotten pretty painful to wash my brushes, especially if I'm doing several at a time, so I've been using an automatic brush cleaner. It works for most brushes, and when paired with my brush drying rack, I found myself much more inclined to keep up with cleaning them. I just set up at my kitchen table and watch Netflix while I'm cleaning them, which mainly involves changing the brushes out and changing the water from time to time. These are the links for the ones I purchased, but they're all pretty much the same, I just wanted to give you an idea as to what I'm talking about. Automatic Brush Cleaner: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07GDH5XKF/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Brush Drying Rack: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01FA9354I/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1 I only use cruelty-free brushes (mostly synthetic, but you can get natural ones that have been produced in a cruelty free manner), and for watercolor, I absolutely Adore the Princeton Aqua Elite Series. They were designed to feel and perform like natural hair. The points are great, they hold a generous amount of water, lay down pigment beautifully, and have a great "spring" (plus the handles are a beautiful teal color). My round no. 6 is hands-down my favourite brush of all time. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07PMSM6CM/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 One more thing I have to share, because I freaking love this thing... www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0017880ME/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 When I bought it it was only $20 USD, so you can probably find it cheaper, but it is a total game changer! Thanks for the video, I really enjoyed it and can't wait to see more!
I love that you mentioned your brain is an ADHD brain. I'm having more and more issues with this in my middle aged years 😆 Thank you as always for all of your guidance and honesty! I'm still very much a beginner and still trying to understand and free my creative side but your channel helps me a lot ❤
I am with you! Its really been challenging after I turned 60. Most people in my age group were never diagnosed until middle age…if ever…. I don’t mention it because people my age don’t accept it as real diagnosis either
Mine attention deficit has gotten a lot more defined after mid 50s. Art helps me. But I still get up and down a lot, forget why, but it helps me focus on something.
I've used a few sketchbooks and my favorite is leuchtturm. I only use pencils, pigment inks and watercolor but so far, this has been the best paper for me.
I have a good recommendation for anyone who wants to buy Holbein gouache or watercolors, both of which are very expensive here in the United States. I searched and found a Japanese site that sells Japanese products and ships them to almost any country. I bought two sets of Holbein watercolors for less than half of what they cost to buy on Amazon and other websites and stores in the U.S. Even with the cost of shipping I saved a lot of money. I will give you a perfect example, right now they have four different artist's sets of Holbein Gouache, one for each season, that contain 12 colors of 15ml tubes (not the little 5ml) for $45. I don't recall what I paid for shipping, I ordered two different sets of Holbein watercolors, one was a small set of 12 colors of 5ml tubes of pastel watercolors that were not even available here in the U.S. The second set I ordered was a Botanical Art Watercolor Set of 24 5ml tubes that was selling for $100 here in the U.S. and I believe I bought it for $45. I hope this helps anyone who would like to buy really good gouache or watercolors. They also sell other art supplies like brushes and things as well. Here is the link art-stationery-jp.com/
@@VisualMind I've seen TH-cam videos explaining that not all hot press paper are as flat or coarse, so you may want to buy a small pad just in case. However, I've watched many TH-cam artists using Arches hot press for watercolor, especially those who also use watercolor pencils or other water soluble mediums, like soluble graphite. Thank you for your videos. I just discovered you today. You do beautiful artwork. I like your use of color; very beautiful.
I love your style! Could the acrylic gauche be re wet easily? I want to start with Guache, love watercolors and I’ve been watching your videos and tutes, I’m ready now! But I want to buy Windsor &Newton , what do you think? ❤ Thank you 😊
Acrylic gouache can't be reactivated at all! Once it's dry it's waterproof just like regular acrylic paints. So if you want to reactive your paints, definitely go with Winsor & Newton designers gouache or other water soluble gouache
You commented that the WN gouache was lightfast and thought you might mention whether all the other supplies in your review were lightfast as well. since you’re lucky enough to have all those items on hand maybe next time you could mention it and that would be awesome. Thx for vid. 🌸
I didn't mention it because I don't know. The watercolors probably aren't since they're more student grade and the oils you'd have to look into depending on the specific color.
Very understandable 😂 my tip is to always wait for a few weeks until you buy new stuff. You can put it into your cart now but see if you still want it in 2 weeks and then you can order it if it's affordable to you. Also, you don't need all of the art supplies in the world to create amazing stuff. Use the stuff you already have and build a collection with your favorite things over time 🤗
nice palettes by your girlfriend 😃 my ADHD brain forgets go clean palettes lol that and i tend to rub off the paint on paintbrushes onto my trousers lol😝
I see colors and a nice thumbnail? I click the video!💛
The Hahnemühle Agave is in a lot smaller ones! I got the tiny 8x10,5 cm block
I love those two women that you painted. Reminds me of those sweet memories a while back
I love your artwork! Great video
I love it! Thank you for taking time to edit in examples of you using each medium!, its really helpful in helping me decide what i want to try!
I may need to try those watercolor brush pens!😀
Your talent amazes me. You make it look easy! Keep up the great work
Your paintings and drawings are amazing ❤

Fun video. I enjoyed seeing the clips of you using the different mediums. I'm also interested in the sealer you used for the gouache
You are a very talented artist. Ive never tried watercolours yet just markers

Wonderful
Thank you for this great information and Happy New Year.
The Agave also comes in A5 and A6 format. And I agree, when they make an Agave sketchbook, I need them!
They makes paint markers similar to posca but with brush tips. One brand is arrtx, but there are alot. Think you would like them alot more

on the size of the "Agave" paper - have "Agave" in my hands right now 8x10.5 cm. ye, they have smaller paper sizes.😅

That's Awesome, thanks for the recommendation!
For Arches you can try their hot press. It has a finer grain. It's not as coarse as the cold press.
Yeah I definitely want to try hot press paper at one point 😁
