    Very proud of the facts that my ‘15 KLR already has every mod covered in this video, plus tusk crash bars and panniers. I spent years watching videos like this and salivating over KLR’s before I finally got mine 😩🙏

      Best all around mechanical horse ever made. Hands down. I have had and still own many bikes. Unless I'm planning on dodging cell phone users with my Harley, I'd rather hit the gravel and dirt. I'll leave before my friends and do poker runs via gravel and always beat them to location without ever pushing 60.

    One thing I would definitely change are the stock plastic hand guards. The original plastic things really just protect your hands from flying stones and cold wind, but they will brake off once you drop the bike. And then probably also the shift/breaklever is gone. Otherwise: KLR650 THE best budget adventure bike of all times. Mine did 26.000km in three months in Canada. Only defects: some loose bolts (I didn't know Kawa doesn't use any lactate) and one lightbulb. Can't get more reliable than this!

    I traded my FZ6 for a newer KLR last summer, now I'm planning out my list of mods upgrades to make it what I need it to be. From the doohicky to to 2 sets of wheels/tires. It's a long list with an emphasis on mountain trails and rideability, but can be switched over for a commute (still trail capable) with the least fuss.

    The new to me bike plus the total overhaul of the 2011 will be under $5kcad. Just can't bring my self to spending $10-20k on a motorycle

    Rocky mountain atv-did the exhausted upgrade help the overall power of the bike,i have herd that an air cleaner,and exhaust up grade help this bike quite a bit,I test rode a 2015 klr 650 and it was vey very slow and weak.I like the bike but the lack of power and acceleration was somewhat like a moped,maybe something was wrong with the new one that,i test rode.If I could get more power out of it,i would like one-but very slow bike stock.thx

    • @rmatvmc
      @rmatvmc  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Scott Bell An aftermarket exhaust will help shed some weight from the heavier stock exhaust canister and it's not as restrictive providing more noticeable power. The KLR's have that smooth controllable power

    • @ridemotoeveryday
      @ridemotoeveryday 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can add a bunch of power stuff but its still a klr, they dont go fast. i love mine but it only goes fast on dirt.lol

    • @ridemotoeveryday
      @ridemotoeveryday 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +RidemotoEveryday Exhaust dosent really add power just moves it, sounds like your going faster though, the weight loss is the improvement, less weight equals more hp. The restriction on klrs is in the head.

    I like the mods to the bike, my 2012 looks similar grey and black. I wanted to know what size the ROX riser is looks like maybe two inches?

    • @rmatvmc
      @rmatvmc  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Theo Diver_Rider Yes. 2" ROX risers.

    • @augk68
      @augk68 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Did you have any cable routing issues or was there enough play to just add the riser?

    • @rmatvmc
      @rmatvmc  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Theo Diver_Rider Plenty of play. A *quick side note:* If you are wanting to update your handlebars on your KLR and go aftermarket, your control switches will have little self aligning tabs on them that will need to be cut off or filed down. The reason being is that the stock KLR handlebars have pre-drilled positioning/aligning holes for your control switches to sit in, so they're perfect everytime. And the new aftermarket handlebars won't. Just a heads up :)

    • @aajawo
      @aajawo 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Rocky Mountain ATV MC Rocky Mountain ATV MC I bent my stock handlebars and I am considering Rox 2" risers and the ODI handlebars as a replacement. Can you tell me which ODI handlebars are in the video? Are they the ODI Controlled Flex Technology? If so, are they the regular 1-1/8" regular version or the 1-1/8" Podium version (RMATVMC carries both versions)? How will the vibration be with these bars, but without the stack bar end weights? And will I be able to use the steering lock without the hand guards hitting the windscreen. I am also considering the Tusk T-10 bars with ATV bend and without risers. Both setups should give similar height to stock.

  • @YoyoBandalore

      @ridemotoeveryday 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      685 Big bore will net a couple ponies. KLX needle/jet kit. MC mod is a free mod that nets a couple. After alot of dyno charts exhaust dosent really add hp just moves it around, the weight loss is the biggest improvement. Be carefull with cams if you like the low end torque. Eagle Mike has some good bigbore kits, and he is one of the guys that found the MC mod, which you advanve exhaust cam 1 tooth.

    • @mal-wx6tu
      @mal-wx6tu 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's the slang term for the harmonic balancer chain lever, which has a poor tension spring on it, which is known to break, then half falls in crankshaft, and can destroy your engine, the lever plate is weak also, replace with Eagle Mike Eng kit with captured spring, solves it, Kawasaki knows their part is substandard, and should have fixed it years ago, the subframe bolts at the tank are weak, replace with Eagle Mike drill out kit, the 2 blots on a otherwise ok bike.

    • @baltsosser
      @baltsosser 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mal-wx6tu I finally found a couple of good install videos on that fix. That is a couple of layers into that bike. Hard to think something so common was never addressed by the factory when the rest worked so reliably.

      Nope ! This is the only bike I know (the carbureted pre-fuel injected years) that is naturally EMP hardened out of the box. That's why the U.S. Marine Corps bought a crap-load of them, but in a special diesel version I believe. One big solar flare, or a KimJong IL tantrum and the vast majority of North American vehicles will be permanently bricked. The older KLR's will still get you out of dodge. (with many rotopax of fuel of course)

      +Rocky Mountain ATV MC I bent my stock handlebars and I am considering Rox 2" risers and the ODI handlebars as a replacement.

    • @slimjim7411
      @slimjim7411 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      If it's installed properly there is not a issue. But as a Adventure bike just the idea of a weak point is reason enough generally to spend $40 for peace of mind. It's no different than the little plastic sump thingy in the DR 650 everybody buys the bolts you can wire together to keep from backing out because maybe...just maybe at 30,000+ miles both bolts might back out, and then might fall into the gearbox, and explode your transmission. It's happened, a few people have checked, and found them loose. It's a cheap thing you do so you never have to worry about it again.
