    I just watched a "tutorial" where the guy reefed down on the caliper bolts and tested the brakes with no quick release, the bike was upside down instead of on a stand and he was using a multi-tool. After watching you do it the correct way my faith in humanity is restored.... but bruh' you had aluminum showing, smh.

    I remember when disc brakes first took off on bike's, I was well impressed when they put discs on push bike's, way better than rims ,especially on a mountain bike /no biggy on a racer as they don't way shit

    You wore those rotors out that much in two years? You don't look like your heavy either. You must ride enduro like a monster. You held the adapter up just long enough to pause and get the part number. Kudos for the informative video.

    Very helpful thank you. My adapter came with a plastic clip as well. Not really sure where it goes haha. The picture they provide is bad

    I can’t believe you put a brand new set of rotors on without changing the brake pads! Now your brake pads will wear the surface of the rotors unevenly shortening their lifespan .

    Hi... Are avid calipers compatible with ice tech rotors front brake

    • @theswissrider
      @theswissrider  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes they are compatible. Just make sure to use the right adapter depending on the rotor size. Shimano comes in 203. Stock Sram come with 200mm rotors so you have to change the adapters when you install the new rotors

    Pretty sure Shimano rotors are 1,8mm thickness when new...

    • @SiriusCFD
      @SiriusCFD 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also, the tightening torque is 6 Nm..

    • @theswissrider
      @theswissrider  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for the comment. For the stock tickness of the rotor you are right. New Shimano IceTech rotors are 1.8 mm thick. For the recommended torque by shimano for a 6 Bolt brake rotor I found 2 to 4 Nm. Anyway I prefer to screw my rotor bolts using a standard wrench and I surely put more than 4 Nm.

      I'm aware that Shimano (next to Magura) is the only manufacturer to recommend

    How do you measure the size of the brake rotor

    • @theswissrider
      @theswissrider  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The sizing is the external diameter of the disc. Usually 160-180-203mm for MTBs

      I am 95kg's, my bike is 10kg and my panniers and other luggage are 25kg => total 130kg's.
      But when I take a 203 rotor and brake hard, my 24 spokes will snap off in an instant. I first need 36 spokes and a wider rim.
