"One is never too old to learn, snips". He was 45 when he died. Ahsoka is 47.
To me, the lesson he was teaching her was the difference between surviving and living. It was the last lesson he learned, from Luke, when he was her age.
From the moment he betrayed Ahsoka, she's been surviving, and her purpose, her conviction, gone. She's got no friends, family or companions around her, no attachment, just as a Jedi should be. But Ahsoka is no Jedi, and like Anakin said he's now passed on the final lesson he learned to her, even what he learned in his final moments.
And then as he's smiling and remembering about his last lesson by Luke, she says, "I won't fight you" and he chuckles, because that's also what Luke said to him before that last fight. When his heart was full of rage and darkness that fight is what brought him back. So he turns on his lightsaber, and gets ready to pass that on to her.
You live, truly live, or you die just like he did when he became Vader. Just surviving is as good as death.
At least that's my take on it.

There are MANY quotes that sum up the lessons and EVERYTHING that is going on in the subtext. From her flirting with the Dark Side to get results to repeating the error of masters like Obi-Wan and Yoda about attachment. But beyond that, a product of such attachments SAVED her life, ironic since one of her 3 trips was to the campaign where she aided that product's maternal grandfather

    • @ro4eva
      @ro4eva ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mogyir -- What?! Andor has "0 mystery/adventure"??? LOL!!!
It spanned multiple planets + required Cassian Andor to learn to trust a mysterious group of strangers as actually being rebels so that they would successfully infiltrate a bunkered imperial outpost together.
This was juxtaposed with Andor having to use his wits to successfully evade multiple imperial traps that were waiting to ensnare him.
Cassian also had to earn the trust of convicts within a ruthless imperial prison so that they could eventually discover a horrifying truth regarding the facility's cruelly deceitful prisoner release program.
Soon enough, the show became filled with mystery, adventure, intrigue, suspense, and some rather high stakes. Heck, even the constructed components that the inmates were tasked with building quickly became mysterious, especially in appearance. And the corresponding Death Star pay off in the finale made the hair on the back of my neck stand up after finally having learned what those inmates unknowingly built for the empire while locked up. Pretty dark how they were taken advantage of (and promised lies).
If I recall correctly, Andor's first season featured no force users, however, there was a near-constant, at times almost suffocating presence of the ever watchful empire in many forms. Even Mon Mothma had to struggle and get creative to elude them. And Season 2 could very well feature a Jedi.
The show's biggest hurdle is that it started off slowly, to set up the chess board, so to speak, but it picked up in episode 3 and never really let go. And based on your opinion of Andor, I suspect you didn't watch more than the first 3 or 4 episodes (of 12 in total). If that is indeed accurate, you're missing out on a great Star Wars show. It took me two attempts to get through the first 1/4 (a.k.a. 3 episodes) of the show. The first 3 episodes were released together for this reason.

*WHAT ANAKIN WAS TEACHING AHSOKA IN THIS EPISODE*
    • Before seeing Anakin, Ahsoka was living a life infused with regret. Her entire life after the Clone Wars was marked with blaming herself for everything (the death of her troops, leaving Anakin and him turning to the Darkside)
    • Because she was living that life, she wasn't really living. But merely EXISTING. She was a grey Jedi (marked by her mostly grey outfit).
    • She lost that fight and her life because her motivations to live were being stifled by her inability to let go of her guilt that was essentially killing her.
    • Anakin took her back to a specific mission in the Clone Wars whe she went against Anakin's orders and as a result, several 501 troopers died. Ahsoka never forgot about that tragedy. And always blamed herself for it.
    • Then Ahsoka was taken to the Siege of Mandalore. Where already she was feeling the enormous weight of her responsability for her troops.
    • Anakin was teaching Ahsoka to face her fears (including seeing Anakin as Vader) and to learn from those mistakes and move on with her life as a wiser person that is no longer being held back by regret. Because having regret means that you're dwelling (living) in the past. You're not really living in the present.
    • So Anakin was asking Ahsoka if she really wanted to live. And if she wanted to live, she was going to have to fight and defeat her demons.
    • That is why Anakin let her defeat him in the end in battle. Because his goal was always to help Ahsoka kill the memories that were holding her back.
    • Once Ahsoka learned that lesson, she became Ahsoka the White (even wore a white outfit). No longer being held back by regret. But as someone who was ready to live life with a new purpose.

    • @helivarpalac2956
      @helivarpalac2956 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Plus, the recurring theme in Star Wars (at least, the films made with love) is that the main characters were always presented with a choice, to kill or not to kill a defenseless/defeated enemy:
      1. Anakin vs Count Dooku (Episode III)
      2. Anakin striking down Windu's hand to save Palpatine
      3. Obi Wan vs Anakin (Episode III and Obi Wan series after defeating Darth Vader)
      4. Luke vs Darth Vader (Episode VI)
      5. Ahsoka vs Anakin (Ahsoka Episode 5)
      6. Ezra with Palpatine (when Palpatine tried to tempt Ezra into seeing his dead parents at a temple)
And other "non canon games" (Jedi Academy, Force Unleashed and it's DLC, etc...)
If Ahsoka in the series once becomes an overpowered force user, then that's the best time to introduce Lord Starkiller (if Disney wishes to introduce him with all of his unfiltered fury) if Disney decides to go with the Father (Anakin), Daughter (Ahsoka), Starkiller (Son) route~
(Luke and Lea would have been a good use for such parallelism of the father, son, daughter of the force with Anakin.... but Disney Sequel Trilogy and Ms. Fisher's untimely death made it hard for that to happen)

Not that I don't like the stoic version of her, but you could tell ever since Rebels almost all her enthusiasm was sapped out of her. With good reason being a child soldier, seeing all these clones die, her Master turn...it can really hurt.
But her making contact with the space whales and joking with Huyang I saw the pre Siege of Mandalore pre Exile Ahsoka and that felt great. She has motivation and is enjoying life again. I also think she struggled a tad with self-ending which is why Anakin is trying to get her to "live."

This whole season has been amazing. Best episode so far.🎉 love that you two are Clone Wars and Rebels fans because too many other reactions I’ve seen, you can tell they have not seen either. So much is lost if you haven’t seen CWs and Rebels. ☺️

Asokha episode 5 was so great. I love that we saw the live-action Clone Wars outfits. I love that we got to see Hayden Christiansen have yellow eyes and wield a red lightsaber. I love that this showed us the Vader Palpatine had hoped Anakin would be, not the lumbering stalker the battle of Mustafar turned him into. And I completely missed that when she grabs the red lightsaber, I think Ahsoka’s eyes turn yellow. I love that when she comes out of the coma, Ahsoka looks lighter. Like she no longer has the weight of the galaxy on her shoulders. Also, SPARSE WALL!!!

I don't believe Ahsoka died which many people may say, i think she was close to dying and it made her connect with Anakin within the force because she's so conflicted about him yet, you can see that in the end with her attire and that she's smiling, first time she actually feels like she could move forward.

I think she was transported to the WbW and then move out of that space. On the verge of death but she was in the WbW. Possibly because she had been through it before so going to it should be easy.

"Intense" sugarcoating? *ding* There some who have watched this episode and missed what Anakin was teaching. Luckily there are several canon quotes that illustrate the things he is teaching her. "He was powerful, rarely lost a battle. What would've surprised people is how kind he was" "I've thought about her every day since we parted, but she's forgotten me completely " "but will we do so as keepers of the peace, or warriors? And is there a difference?" (Ahsoka to Barriss about the Jedi post war), "THIS IS RIDICULOUS, the droids aren't HALF as good as Rex's men " "that's the point. This is SUPPOSED to be difficult Ahsoka. It's my job to protect you. And the best way I can do that is to teach you how to protect yourself " "How well would you sleep, knowing that I let you down?" "Not very well I'd imagine "(Anakin and Obi-Wan talking about her) "Where were you when I needed you? "I made a choice" "You were SELFISH" "No" "You FAILED me, you ABANDONED me, do you know what I've become?" (Being confronted by a Force vision on Lothal) "you can't save your master, and I can't save mine" "The Jedi are supposed to be keepers of the peace, but all I've been since I was a Padawan was a Soldier" "I see the Padawan needs 1 final lesson " "Let's just say I DIDN'T use standard Jedi protocol " "I've seen what such attachments can do to a fully trained Jedi Knight, to the best of us" "Then I will avenge his death " "Revenge is not the Jedi way" "I am NO JEDI" "I won't leave you, not this time" "Then you will DIE" "You're reckless little one. You never would've made it as Obi-Wan's Padawan. But you might make it as mine" "Well you do come from a long line of unconventional Jedi" "Train yourself to let go.....of everything you fear to lose" "I KNOW there is still good in you, the emperor hasn't driven it from you fully" "you already have, Luke. You were right, you were right about me. Tell your sister, you were right" "Father, I won't leave you " "Jedi, Ahsoka IS Jedi"

Banger of an episode. I love that when she goes into the wbw she is full of guilt and blames herself for anakins fall and is ahsoka the grey. When she sees he is destined to fall no matter what she lets that guilt and blame go and comes out ahsoka the white and is alot more upbeat like the ahsoka we grew to love.

10:56 Btw, did you know that according to “Bespin Bulletin” there was a fight scene shot between Anakin (as Hayden Christensen) and Ahsoka (as Savannah Steyn instead of Ariana Greenblatt, at least for that scene) on Mustafar in an alternate-reality-like setting during the "world-between-world like" moments, which they said was cut from the actual episode? In that scene Anakin would have showed her that she couldn't have changed his fate to become Vader even if she were there at that point, which would have taken away a lot of her guilt of her not having been there and not being able to save him, resulting in the now more light-hearted Ahsoka. They cut that scene, maybe cause it wasn't really a memory and/or cause Anakin's message/lesson was a different one? Though I still hope they would release it as a separate video on YT or sth like that, cause I would really like to see what that scene (and Savannah Steyn as Ahsoka) would have looked like and it also explains a bit better imo why Ahsoka is more enlightened and happy at the end.

George Lucas said the most powerful force user is Luke then Vader. Luke has more flesh than Vader thus he has more Midichlorians in his body make his connect stronger to the force...Ahsoka's power level is "up there" around their level according to George. Knowing this information I believe, Ahsoka's fear is that she is as or more powerful than Anakin because he trained her an is apart of his Legacy. She always been holding back not going all-in in fear of turning to the dark-side like Anakin did. It's why she hesitate with Sabine training in fear she'll pass it on.JMO

Not only did we get Rex and the Mauldalorians ... im not sure if you caught it, but we got the 501st wearing their Ashoka helmets during that sequence.
Big props to everyone here, in front and behind the scenes. Heyden really brought it being abke to switch between not only his Anakin, but Clone Wars Anakin and Darth Vader, he was abke to give eqch a different feel - He is the master.
Also Ariana for somehow bringing us 47yo Ashoka mixed into 13yo and 17yo Snips.
Also, obligatory LotR joke with Ashoka the Grey becoming Ashoka the White. I think this is the first time we've seen her smile, truly smile and we got ablot more oersonality back into her, she's no longer merely survivng - she's finally at peace and living fully.
