A better way to reduce your file size this way, is to place a new layer on top of all your layers and use the bucket tool to fill it with either black or white. This way, when you open your file again, you only have 1 layer to switch off, plus the structure of your file (you don't have to remember which layers were visible and invisible) remains intact.

Amazing tips! Thank you, it helped me a lot :) I have also some trouble with drawing - brush movement is lagging on some big canvases. I have some solutions but they're not perfect. First I try to draw on not-zoomed screen - but of course there are some details that cannot be done without zooming. Second - it is less lag when you draw outside the groups - but I like to have everything ordered so it's not perfect solution for me. Third - sometimes I draw single parts on other, smaller files, and then I put everything together - but it laggs anyway and I can't have everything under control :P Anyone - do you have any simillar tips for digital painting without laggs?

One way to significantly decrease file size is to turn off all layers (click on the eye symbol) before saving.
A better way to reduce your file size this way, is to place a new layer on top of all your layers and use the bucket tool to fill it with either black or white.
