    Yup, when you ask a Star Trek fan if they would want to live in Star Trek setting, they’d say yes, Star Wars, yes, Babylon 5, yes, Battlestar Galactica, yes, Doctor Who, yes. But when you ask a fan of Warhammer 40,000 if they would like to live in that setting, they’d look at you like you just took a dump right in front of them, and they’d say “Fuck No!”

    My favorite explanation of 40k that I've heard is "Imagine teaming up with Space Nazis because they're fighting multiple Cthulus." It's so ridiculous and miserable and over the top, and above all else, deep beyond reason. The Horus Heresy itself has 50+ novels dedicated to just that and all of that spawned and grew and expanded from the lore of a freakin tabletop game, and I love it!

      Problem is that they aren't nazi's. Nazi's weren't religious extremists, nor did they allow other areas of their influence to do whatever they wanted as long as it wasn't blatant heresy and as long as they were paying their taxes. They aren't a fascist Empire. There is a word for religious extremism, and the other is the fact that they practice feudalism.

    He was crying at Cadia being destroyed. Cadia was the bulwark against The Eye (a physical rift into the warp [the immeterium]) and the Guard held Cadia against everything thrown against them. Even as the planet crumbled those on ships noted as the crust shattered they could still see lazgun shots from the surface. That's where the quote "The planet broke before the guard ever did." came from.

    • @ODDnanref
      @ODDnanref ปีที่แล้ว +2

      To be fair, if the Tyranids don't eat they don't grow. Which is why his plan to have them fight the Orkz was what caused him to fall out with some space Marines.

    @21:15
    Cadia was the best and biggest Military Planet in the Imperium, guarding Real Space from the Eye of Terror (huge Warp Rift in Real Space). Cadia repelled 12 Chaos Black Crusades. On the 13th Black Crusade, Abbaddon the Loser couldn't take another loss and yeeted a Black Stone Fortress (Huge Ancient Star Station) right into Cadia, ripping it appart. While the Planet was dying, the remaining Guardsmen on the Planet, formed a last Stand against an unending Hordes of Chaos Demons, to make sure that the Space Marines, Mechanicus and Sisters of Battle could escape from impending Doom. And when the last line was getting slaughtered they screamed a War Cry that became a legacy. "CADIA STANDS." This is why it's said "The Planet broke before the Guard did."
    @28:30
    There are Hundreds, if not Thousands of Sub Legions, called Chapters.
    After the Horus Heresy, Guilleman "Papa Smurf" (Primarch of the Ultramarines) created the Codex Astartes that enforces all the (loyal) Legions to be Split up in Chapters with 1000 Marines per Chapter. And Each Chapter will be split up even Further into Companies, with 100 Marines per Company. Each Chapter will be lead by a Chapter Master.
    So a Legion is about between 100.000 and 300.000 Marines, so basically 100 to 300 Chapters per Legion.
    Of course the main Chapter will retain the Legion's Name, while the other Chapters are free to choose their own Name, Homeplanet, Monastery, Recruitment Methods and are mostly self dependend but still loyal to the Imperium, Primarch and the Codex.
    @42:55
    From 10.000 recruits (Children), that are selected to become a Grey Knight, only a Handful will survive till the End. Luetin09 made a video about their recruitment and training.
    @46:42 he didn't talk about the Titans. Imperial Knights are smaller than the smallest Titan. Titans are gigantic Bipedal War Machines that end Conflicts before they even begin.

    Another thing with the Custodes is if/when they are sent out the archivists record the battle as a win even before the battle starts. Also, it is punishable as heresy to even suggest that a Custodes can lose.
    Also to add with the Grey Knights they constantly emit a low hum of energy that slowly disassociates daemons and outright sends lesser daemons back to The Warp. That and there is a single Grey Knight wandering through The Warp that even greater daemons don't mess with.

    Also be advised, Bricky makes a lot of mistakes or straight up doesn't know some shit. Too many to count, but for example he said that one Custodes would probably win against 3 Space Marines. He will not "probably win", he will beat them into the dirt very fast and very easily, it's not even a competition

    10:25 it's twenty, but primarchs 2 and 11 are redacted never to be talked about again, it was a way for the game's creators to give players a way to create their own shit for personal campaign...
    14:22 why not? because the emperor was the avatar of logic, science and atheism. his will was equality, science and galaxy conquest. plus he knew that religion or cult (same thing for him) feed the warp and the chaos gods, so his plan was to eradicate religion to weaken the gods (cause they can't be destroyed as they enbodies universal karmic concept). ironickly, just like a chaos god, all this undesired worshiping make his warp persona ludicrously strong...
    28:30 after the horus heresy, primarch rouboute guiliman of the ultramarines devised in the codex astartes that all legion that didn't turn traitors should be divided in chapter of 1000 marines each. to avoid the full power of an entire legion turning traitor instatntly... so there is tons and tons of chapter now that are descendant of the legion he's showing there, like the black templar are a descendant chapter of the imperial fist.

    Tyranids or most of the monster from 40K are no laughing matter, we laugh due to how overpowered 40K is and that’s just the general feeling or perceptions given by the universe, but imagine if some of the factions or races were to somehow leak into other sci fi universes, the sheer level of destruction and outright terror that would be imposed onto such a poor universe, where even the more reasonable and down to earth factions like the tau or even the guard are laughably overpowered, where for the guard as long as casualties can be kept to a minimum along with resource expenditure and the viability of a planet, the guard 9/10 times would simply outright obliterate an enemy planet, such as during the Damocles gulf crusade where the imperium was on a war path with the nascent tau empire, where outside of a few key locations, the imperium implemented a scorch earth policy where they’d jump from the warp, crush the unsuspecting tau fleet and rather than conveniently invade a planet, they’ll simply use things like orbital bombardment to level the entire planet or simply set the entire world’s atmosphere on fire, to the point where alderan would be considered a one off situation the Damocles crusade was alderan x10. And as for the tau, whilst they may be the smallest faction and weak in combat, that doesn’t excuse them as no less competent fighters, being highly adoptable as well as highly advanced in which their standard form of elite soldiers is given a ten foot tall mech suit which can be armed with a plasma mini gun, high yield plasma cannon/ mid yield plasma rifle or a wrist mounted flamethrower, all the while having the ability to fly, all the while their dedicated anti vehicle weapons ie the railgun is more than capable of punching in one end of a leman Russ tank, straight through the back and into the next two tanks behind it, it’s that powerful as well as their ability to cloak and turn invisible makes them extremely difficult to pinpoint or locate, unless they’ve got highly advanced sensors or have advanced body modifications to see them or smell them better such as the space marines, that being said not only are the battlesuits a nightmare to deal with the tau’s use in both drones as well as missiles slows them to easily out range or outpower most enemies and unlike the imperium who refuses to accept alien technology, the tau have no quality in which much like the orks, any defeated enemy provides them with a rich amount of resources as well as research, such as the tau’s reversed engineered warp drive which resulted in the deaths of all no n tau auxiliary troops as well as resulting in an accidental summoning of demons. And again take Star Wars republic as an example in which most vehicles are walkers or hover vehicles which can only float so far off the ground, vs the tau which could easily one shot Amy’s ground vehicle republic or even empire would have, all the while a two story battlesuit with a massive plasma cannon pops ohs of nowhere
