I'd never watched ANY Got Talents or X Factors before that, thought it all was a bit stupid, BUT after seeing HIM do THAT, took me down the rabbit hole of great auditions & I'm so glad it did. Everything about James' audition that day was exceptional. His song choice, his rawness, his reimagining of the song, doing it in front of the original artist, her reaction, his parents back story & their reactions.. simply everything. There are quite a few auditions that line up like that (such as Calum's, that guy that made Simon actually cry to where he couldn't even speak after dude finished, Jamie Archer's, etc) but James' was one of my all time favs!

He smashed it every week showing his versatility in all sorts of songs and genres but stamped his own style on every single track. And he also smashed the stigma of these types of shows, he didn’t conform but competed and showed you can stay true to yourself rather than changing and loosing his true self through the TV competition process... Seriously check him out from the beginning of his journey - though in fairness he was and is the same rare vocal talent you see today... 👍
