Being new to the channel, I’ve clearly missed the previous parts of this incredible building, so I’ll enjoy going back through your videos to watch them. Such stunning wildlife in a beautiful country. Watching a true craftsman at his work is a pleasure to top it all off. Your carpentry skills are outstanding, to see such a magnificent building in the making knowing it’s all made from what the forests have provided with your skills is a beautiful thing. Thank you for sharing.
WarLord of the Woods. Bushcrafting Guru. Thanx Don. Another video making me feel like a small, weak ,clueless child. I'll just go put my Apron on and get back to doing laundry. You're the Best Brother.
No no man. That makes me sad you write that. I have a lot of time thinking about stuff like that. Its what i do most of the time. This channel makes me do stuff i wouldn't do if i didn't post videos. I love to learn and think about ways to do new stuff. Its not just a walk over for me. I know you mean well and thanks for that.
@@DonVonGun Don, I was just playing, trying to be funny. You are a very skilled man though. I've gotta stay focused and give this video thing a fair shot. Itd just be nice to have one of my buddies with me the first few times. I've been doing all my stuff SOLO so far. Thanx for replying.
Thank you for making these videos. The information you have shared has been really helpful for me. I have learned a lot of valuable techniques by watching your skills and craftsmanship. Again THANK YOU and God bless!
Are we going to be able to watch you finish your Fire Cabin Shelter?? It's such a pleasure to watch a true craftsman at work!! Thanks for sharing and putting all of that on film. Hope you complete the project and share that with us too!! Beautiful work!! Ax
I always thought it would be an interesting project to make one of these. Too old now so I'll watch you build yours. Lots of hard work and expertise is needed for sure.
I love how you put those securing splits at the bottom end of the rods. So smart and effective. This cabin is going to be amazing. And luckily, no bears came around haha!
The first 30 seconds is the best explanation of how a reciprocal roof works I have seen and I watched about 10 videos .thank you for a wonderful video .best wishes from Ireland. 🇮🇪 New subscriber 😁
Too bad you didn't spot anymore of that wild bacon! Solid craftsmanship and videography once again. Oh and I loved the sound of that ring from your DSI axe while cleaning branches! Sounds like good steel. Glad to see you back on this project, winter is coming soon and I'm sure we're all hoping to see you do some winter camping in this. Thanks again for sharing!
Thanks man. Only seen wild bacon that once, really took me by surprise. :D Yes hope i will enjoy a lot of winter nights in the shelter. There is a lot of work on making the roof. I don't wanna use nails, and i dont want to drill so much. But i have a plan, hope it will work. And i can finish the roof soon. :)
I'm fascinated by that binding technique..the green sapling cordage. Assuming it will dry without snapping or you wouldn't have struggled with it. Looks really nice at the center.
that binding technique (wrapping a small tree to make the binding) can also be found in the Mors Kochanski northern survival guide "bushcraft" also, that hidden foxtail wedge you used on the rafters is my favorite one lol
i was waiting to see the progress on the round house for weeks. glad you are finally getting back to these videos. keep the build going! thank you for sharing.
solid work for sure. As always very moody and nice video work. Cant believe that giant wicker didn't twist under that knot! Whats that?....clove hitch from hell or what?
I absolutely love your channel as I do your friend Rune , You both fascinate me with your skills basic but so intriguing and intricate as well thank you very much for sharing with the rest of us it’s brilliant
Tak min ven. Ja jeg må lidt op i omdrejninger, men det er et langt trivielt slid det næste stykke tid. Håber der kan komme bare en nogenlunde video ud af det.
I've seen about everything done he's doing but I've never seen anyone do what he did with that tree makeing that big rope out of it lol that was new one on me .
I was hoping you were going to edit the beautiful sound of the axe debranching the tree into a song, it was lovely! 😁 Edit : beautiful pic capture of the wildlife - stunning!
Should you not have place a wedge in the bottom of the holes/dowels to stop the beam from lifting up like you did for the tops? It would then have two expanded ends.
I was holding my breath until you had finished wrapping the sapling and secured it. I should have had more faith in you ;)) Do you plan on finishing enough to stay in it a few times this winter? That would be cool . . . Hugs and kisses to Musen (did she have her birthday?) Big hug and take care Soeren, Donna
Thanks Donna. The tree is very pliable when the fibers are softened and broken. I hope to have roof on top so i can use it, and build further in before winter. Musen is 4,5 years old. Hugs and kisses back at you from us. :)
Was this done on your own private property? How large is the land? I was reading that life is pretty heavily regulated in Sweden. I was curious how such regulation affects a build like this.
Its one a friends property. The land is not so big, but its close to a state forest. Its in Denmark. Yes you cannot go out and build like that in either Sweden or Denmark. I dont think you can anywhere. Compared to any other, at least european contries, the nordic contries is the ones with easiest acces to Nature. In Sweden, Norway and Finland you can go out and make a campfire, and make camp as close as 100 m. from buildings. In Denmark we have a lot of public shelters, and places where you can have campfires. Its legal to sleep in any state forests, and at the coast its legal to have campfires.
@@DonVonGun why did I think this was in Sweden? Thanks for the clarification. You have some beautiful Wilderness out there! Reminds me of the northwest United States. Alaska, Washington, and Oregon

Thanks :) It should not shrink so much in that direction.
A branch or sapling used in that way is called a withy, they are tremendously strong for a natural cordage.
Отдельное спасибо за установку из трех бревен в качестве кресла. Оригинально, замечательная идея!
Успешного завершения работ по закрытию крыши.
Awesome, that is gonna be a beautiful cabin, wanna see the rest of that build
Thanks :)

Absolutely love the pine bow rope making. It makes up for your bank line knot tying. LOL! I'll be back for more.
Great video, glad to see you back at work on the shelter. Novel approach to tying the top rails together. 😎👍👍🍺
Thank you. Hope to be back with another episode from the shelter. But the next part is a long boring, triviel, hard one, at least for me. :/

I'm preparing a piece of land in the woods for a build and i'd hate to use nails or screws :)
