Thank you so much for showing the house i grew up in. Wilder is a migrant town. All the fuss is in the summer when hundreds of farm workers migrant to work in the sugar beets, onions, potatoes, hops, apples and corn. During the winter the town is almost dead. And no it was not a spanish settlers town. When I went to school there and graduated. There was only one other latina in my class and she would leave in October when the migrants leave Migrant workers just started settling there recently. Now 75 percent or more of the population is latino.
So When Did You Graduate, I Went To School In Wilder From The Time I Was In Daycare Till The Seventh Grade We Were Full Time My Dad Hauled Hops During Hop Season, Potatoes During Potatoe Season Onions And So forth, He Was There In Wilder Since He Was Young, He Also Fought Forest Fire's For Snake River Fire District, We Lft In 1977.
I was feeling nostalgic and found this looking up videos of this little town. Much of my mom's side of the family is from around this area. I haven't been there in over 11 years now, so it's kind of sad to see how much has dried up. Rosa's is still there though.
It's not usually that dead. That's my hometown, I live just up the road now and still frequent the town, we were there just last week. I wish you could've experienced it while people were out and about it's a great little town. There is and has always been a lot of Mexican influence in this beautiful town I call home.
Morning Trucker Ray from here in Kansas, I find it very interesting to see these short clips from towns you travel by in Canada and the USA, have a great day
" I feel I'm in a ghost town" haha! Probably not surprising to me here in the sub tropics Ray looking at that snow on the ground - I'd be cuddling the heater 24/7. Gee this is interesting though and I hope it becomes a permanent part of your channel. All the miles we do with you and at 65mph so much passes in the blink of an eye while all these little communities are going about their daily lives. Expect the warmer weather might see some of the 'oldsters' sitting outside that barber shop where you could have a chat. Much enjoyed.
Nice little town 👍 you would love the little small towns Ray around Ireland and England. Haven't been to many in Europe as a hole but i believe some beautiful small towns. Hope your well 👍
Wow, I love this. Nice to see you getting to look around the places you drive through. That church from 1912 was awesome. Must ask as Dad not home yet from work. Is that a water tower at 3:36 in the video and are they still used? That barber shop, was really small and did not see any windows :) When Dad gets home will make him watch. Sending happy thoughts and stay safe x
It was the best and safest place to grow up in.
