It's cute to see a baby take it's first few steps. This pistol illustrates that evolutionary progression towards the legendary 1911. Almost there...almost there!
"baby"??? "First steps"?? Wtf
Are yo new here?
@@juanmanuelalamanromero615why so condescending?

@@juanmanuelalamanromero615 i think they mean the pistol, not her
At the museum someone donated his huge 1911 collection, amongst them was one of the army testing versions of this gun. It had a crack at the front of the slide that'd been welded back together.
The stress testing revealed the action fundamentally couldn't handle .45 ACP, hence the construction of the 1911.
Mae says more in a minute than some gun reviews in a hour. I like how she keeps the subject on the gun, and not about herself, which really says a lot a good about herself!
My new favorite channel...it seems like nearly all of the other channels out there spend at least the first 1-2 minutes on opening credits/splash screens - with the ever-present electric guitar solos playing the entire time
This Thanksgiving I’m thankful for Minute of Mae
I always enjoy Mae’s smile at the end!😉
The evolution of the Colt 1911 was one of those real time stories that can be seen clearly by the examples starting around 1900 and finally emerging into the classic we know of today. And the iconic final rendition is still the favorite of many.
A piece of fine art. I love my 1911 and really enjoy seeing its predecessors. Great video, thanks you for sharing.
完成された1911は、これから人類が火薬を使った武器が続く限り作られ続けるだろう。
It's very nice to see one of those actually in use and to learn the experience. Thank you.
This format is just 👌
Consise, informative and just enough wiggle room to put in personal observations and a degree of spice.
Oh and I just want to say thanks for everything you guys do. Your passion for the subject matter and completeness of telling the history and development of every single firearm you feature is so appreciated to someone who is equally interested in the mechanics and engineering of firearms and history in general.
I have been a long time subscriber to the channel and unfortunately during that time have been unable to support you (let's just say that you don't become a full time carer for a family member for the financial gains), but that situation is changing for me (after almost twenty years no less) and I am happy to say that you guys are going to be the first people I will be supporting. After the countless hours of meticulously researched and presented information and entertainment you have provided for me it's the very least I can do.
Seriously, I cannot thank you enough.
Yet another great one minute video I love it
Excellent series on an excellent pistol. Maybe the best martial pistol ever. I credit the 45ACP as a contributing factor.
Wasn't aware of this model. Thanks for your education of us less educated.
Thanks Mae!
Love to see the classics at work.
"The recoil is stout" I love that!
All these modelos are Legends the first design1900 model,this1905,1906 beautiful, and finally the great 1911 one of the BEST automatic of all time👍🌐
beautiful, thank you! 2A!!!❤💯🤍👍!
Great Thanksgiving video.
GREAT video, succinct and in depth. Or, short and sweet. Now i WANT ONE.
The single best minute on the internet.
Happy thanksgiving y’all!
The pistol needed work but it did introduce the holiest of cartridges

Just look at that bore.
Racking the slide on a 1900/1902/1903 or 1905 sounds different than any other pistol I can think of!
Thanks for a Thanksgiving minute of Mae!
It's kind of "chunky" sounding. I guess because of the dual-swinging links and the pivoting barrel?
Yeah, I love the sound of my 1903!@@rdrrr
@@billshepherd4331 Damn, you own one? I'm impressed.
I like the classics - you can really appreciate the engineering and craftsmanship when you consider the limitations of human knowledge and metallurgy at the time.
@@rdrrr I had a Really good gun show buy 8 or 10 years ago.
I got the 1903 Pocket Hammer and a 1908 Pocket Hammerless for $1000.00 plus tax.
Maybe the best gun show buy ever!😉
@@billshepherd4331 The Pocket Hammerless! What a classy piece. The 1908 model in .380 would make a great carry gun, although it must be hard to resist the urge to wear it in a shoulder holster under a fitted suit....
love the 1905
Good morning, Mae [Oz time] thanks again for a brilliant tutorial, Cheers.
Well, Mae has had a very real effect on my young daughter. She's now decided she wants to be Mae when she grows up.
Less bulky then the 1902 model
But 1911 one of the best pistol clip invention strong & Simple
I just love your channel so much it tells the stories of all the weapons used in World Wars but I have a question is it possible that you can use weapons from movies and TV shows added on your Channel it would be interesting to see
Happy Thanksgiving 👍 😎
Nice job beautiful pistol
Happy Turkey day everyone
As late as 1940.bogey packed one in High Sierra
0:56 A look of pure happiness
Someone should remake this pistol today , I bet it would sell really well !
No it wouldn't. LoL
Cylinder & Slide made a very limited run of .45 ACP M1908's- mostly due to price.
👍👏💯
It's like the 1911 little brother...if his mother drank during the pregnancy.
Thanksgiving reference was perfect.😂
its crazy that the colt automatics are closer in time to the Colt Patterson than to today
It's a shame this design family didn't go any further and become the most famous semi-auto pistol of all time.
R.I.P. 1911A1😢😢😢😢
@@mikevaluska7313He’s clearly referring to the Norwegian 1914
Ah, the almost-1911
Samuel Jackson carried one in Kong Skull Island
👍👍👍
God's Caliber
I wanna watch the full episodes but they just got too long anything past 30-40mins I get burnt out
Kind of like Glock perfection, each model gets a little closer.
Personally, I much prefer the look of the 1905 or Rock Armory's TAC series to the m1911, just for the fact that they don't have that weird aesthetic quirk where there's a part of the slide at the front of the gun that extends to the bottom that also doesn't line up with the frame, not to mention that the top part of the frame has a cutout at the front that disturbs the upper slide's straight bottom. I much prefer the 1905's symmetry aesthetically than whatever they were doing with the m1911.
Thing is, they must have done this for a reason (cutting costs/ making the weapon lighter, I presume), but I can't manage fo find anybody discuss why the m1911 was made to look like that. Most that I can find is the Devil May Cry Wiki listing points where Ebony and Ivory differ from standard m1911's.
Mae, grip shaped a la the d shape guitar necks from fenders in the 50s?
Atiradora de mão boa.
No annoying grip safety
Isn't there a version/model that is exactly the 1911 but no safety I've heard that the military wanted a safety it wasn't originally designed with an external safety in mind
Women always have the same identical reloading style.
Jó néz ki. A csaj is.
If Mae married John Hamm would this series turn into "A Minute of Mae Hamm"
Next: The 1911
Yee yee
Most semi-auto handguns owe their form factor to Browning's design. Without it, we would be carrying C96 Mausers or toggle lock pistols.
No there were others. Probably would have been something like Walther dominating the industry.
The austro-hungarians had the steyr m1912, so in one way or another similar ideas would appear.
So without it we'd be carrying two of the coolest looking pistols to ever exist?..Oh no..."the horror"...
I rarely comment on video's but if this 1905 has a serial number lower than 5000 it is of the original 5000 that was sent to England to arm American soldiers in the first world war as an attempt to get the government contract to supply the American army with its new sidearm. Please don't shoot it with modern 45acp as it was designed to use black powder 45 acp. Black powder had lower pressures and was highly corrosive which meant cleaning more often. As clean as that gun looks someone loved it and took real good care of it. I would only shoot light loads specifically loaded to the pressures it was designed for.
Basically everything you just said is incorrect.

I think the automatic .45 was Browning’s fever dream. He made advances but not fast enough or to his liking. I adore the 1911, but I believe he was chasing the High Power.
Shes a beauty. And so is the pistol.

It’s a good looking gun, shaking off the awkwardness of the earlier models
