Thank you for sharing this rare and historical footage! This is the first time I've seen this unique perspective of the 1990 October Revolution Parade. There is a growing interest in archival footage of the former Warsaw Pact countries, and it will never cease to amaze me how much footage has been buried and is only just now being uploaded to the internet 3 decades later!
Am fighting a strong urge to whistle the USSR anthem, if I knew how to whistle. That reporter had no idea at the time how right he was, as the forces of nationalism would start to spread. American, but a nerd for Soviet and Russian, and Eastern European and Cold War history.
You can't whistle, but you're fascinated with Cold War history and geopolitics? There used to be popular dialogue in film and TV of the 1990s explaining whistling as simply "putting your lips together and blowing."
I mean, ever since Brezhnev had come to power people within the USSR and the Warsaw pact as a whole had been disillusioned with it. that year just happened to be the final straw

19:55,21:55 feels like deja vu of the honor parade broadcast

73 years since - three score and ten years had passed change is always impending after this tipping point
Thank you for this, it would be favorable if you opened the clip for autotexting, this allows even translation....
Few people actually know, but an attempt was made at Gorbatshov's life at this parade☝️
Say what?
@@Kalleri13 Yup
Even if Gorby was a communist he presented a milder softer prigressive form the west could have lived with in harmony
Lmao
очень удивительно что передовое вооружение 2020 - х годов в 1991 делает)))) совпадение? не думаю!

People must have realised the jig was up but until then one carries on as normal
Contrary to popular American/western belief, the vast majority of Soviet citizens favored the Soviet Union and even want it back.
people had known the jig was up since Brezhnev's years, it was just a matter of time
красиво
Psst, it had social classes and didn't overcome capitalism
Psst, no it didn't and it overcame capitalism for 74 years and you're not immune to propaganda.
👍💯👍💯
такое мракобесие только у врагов возможно государственных! кстати с фашистской германией больше 3-5 отличий найти не могу, помогите мне!
15:42...Ельцин воодушевился кому то вмазать!🤣
Soviet Union would still exist today if not for Gorbachev
bullshit, collapse would have been maybe 5-10 years later but in a more worse way.
Praising their mass murderers
Just how you do in the west
