My wife died Friday after her second battle with cancer, and only 32. She suffered tremendously. She's at peace and has no suffering, but i truly am lost. Dont see a way forward. We bury her on Thursday. Lord, give me strength to make it through the ceremony. This song found me at the right time. Just wow.

Those lyrics hit so close to home for me bc it makes me think about how when I was little my mom used to leave for weeks at a time after saying she'd be gone for only a few days and I used to wait on a chair at the window for hours to the point where I'd sleep there and I remember often watching the rain trickle on the window getting scared by the thunder but having no one to cheer me.

My fiancee introduced me to this song, explaining how much it meant to her after her husband succumbed to his cancer a few years ago. I thought I understood it, and appreciated all of the the themes and emotions expressed here.
Then she passed a few weeks ago from cancer, 4 days before I was to fly to the US to be with her. I understand, feel and appreciate everything a whole lot more now.
I am so sorry for your loss. :( I've a friend going through this now...married in January and she suddenly passed last month (August). I wish I could ease his pain, and yours.

A bit late posting to this, but it came up as TH-cam was randomly playing things for me. I've listened to it multiple times be it on here, the radio, or spotify. I just wanted to take a moment to write out how it has affected and helped me during a very difficult process.
When I first heard it, 2 years ago, my grandfather had just passed away. The man, for all intent and purpose, that was my father figure for majority of my life. Every time I hear this song, like now, I can't help but take a moment to remember him. To grieve him. I allow myself a few minutes to do that while listening to this song whenever it comes up. Grieving is never over.

I understand everything you’ve gone through. The loss of a grandparent messes you up. It’s like you haven’t been alive long enough to fully know them, but you still love them with your entire heart and soul. For me personally I’ve lost many family members that I cared for deeply. My great grandfather died a few years ago, and my grandad died just a year ago, and I still can still remember our memories like it was yesterday. Sorry for trauma dumping, and I’ve sorry to hear this happened to you. Just stay strong and tough through it; I know you can.

Back before I had ever heard of Imagine Dragons, my friend Alisha was always talking about her little brother in-law's amazing band, and how they were going to be huge someday. She was their number one fan as they rose to fame. This week they released a song about her death. This is that song. Alisha would be so proud.

My step-dad introduced me to Imagine Dragons when him and my mom were dating. I’ve been listening to songs by them ever since. Imagine Dragons always nails it with every song. This song has touched my heart in the deepest places. I lost both my parents 15 months apart. I missed saying goodbye to my Dad by 4 hours but I was with my Mom for the last 12 days of her life. Today, they sang this song for us in his tournee. Dan said that normally he doesn't play it because it brings bad memories and makes him feel sad. But because the brazilians like it so much, they did. As he sang, you could feel his emotions, everybody felt his affliction though the song and there were a couple of times in which he just stopped as he couldn't hold it back anymore. We could as well see the rest of the band supporting Dan so it doesn't feel so lonely.
To figth that loneliness he asked for us to sing it with him, but everyone was so sad we couldn't. Singing with thousands and also feeling alone.
It hits different when we think about the fact that in the end we just got ourselves.

The pain still comes in waves. Sometimes I don’t recognize myself. In these moments, I have to accept the wreckage I’m standing in and know that better days will come. I am so so sorry. Its really tough for the young ones these days. Im 34, and have three boys all under 10. I worry so bad for them, knowing how hard I've had it, how others have it, its terrifying if you really think about it. My heart hurts for you and your son. This is a hard place for souls to learn. As long as he is in your heart he's not gone, I think people go, not to hurt anyone, but bc they hurt so very badly themselves. There's no real safe place for someone struggling, unless you're lucky to have someone who knows you that deeply. we need to be better to each other, everyone, no matter what.

Yea, I can sympathize with how he feels in this song. A woman I was best friends with for nearly a decade was killed in a murder suicide by a guy she was breaking up with. I was out of state when it happened and it "wrecked" me for 3+ years. I still have a voicemail message she left me a day before it happened. She was so happy and full of hope to start her new life.

🥺😢 This is the end of the story of my beautiful wife and i, she died in 2019 drowned in the beach, i can't understand how is possible imagine dragons put all this situations on the video because is exactly how i see every day, all this moments are the same in my life, i think i see it among the people, moments that i am living every day since she went to heaven leaving my little son and me, i'll collapsed in tears and impotence with this i'll see you again my loved one, sometimes i think sit on the shore of the beach but i don't have the courage, i give everything to see her again by my side one more time.

These lyrics are everything to me. I lost my grandmother a month ago. For the last year and a half of her life I checked on her every single night. In the final month before her death, it was hard but, the part that says .. ‘I want to see you just for one more day, just 1 rainy day’.. the most mundane moments of life, like even going to tuck her into bed.. You would just do anything for that day again. Even when you know death was what had to happen it still sucks so much. Love to all listening and grieving.

I'm sorry for your loss, and I just wanted to tell you something, and I'm speaking from personal experience,,,,, TIME HEALS ALL WOUNDS, I can understand that you are angry, and I was too,,,, I would get drunk and would scream up at the sky,,,, yelling and cursing at God, I blamed myself, I blamed God, but as time passed, I learned to live with the fact that they're gone, ( lost 2 wives, one was killed and postmortem raped, while I was at work ,,,,, and COVID-19 did my second wife in, she died in our bed in my arms,) so what I'm really trying to say is that I understand your anger, and by all means vent it out,,,,, because right now at this stage is the only thing that will make you feel someone better,,,, but like I said,,, only time will help.

Everytime that I listen to this I wanna cry I feel the tears coming up but their just not strong enough to make it out they just get far enough to give you that small headache you get when you cry.
