Hey Bro do you like me to tell what's the name the thing which is under the WiFi repeater ( I mean the green mat I think) where do you buy it and what's the proper name of this product? Plz.
no, this is only an extender and the USB port only provides power. So in your case this won't help you. You can search for some cheap WiFi adapters maybe
Mine keeps saying NO DEVICES FOUND after I start mini app. If I hit plus sign I get nothing. Had to set up a password and username and I got an email with activation but after that nothing. It still says No devices found.
Sad to hear that, maybe try to take a pin and insert to the reset? maybe after the reset it will work. Like in this picture: gadoga.com/img/cara-memperkuat-sinyal-wifi-xiaomi-mi-repeater-extender-problem-kendala.jpg
wauue that dancing hand it just keeps on going.. thrueout the video... I'm gonna miss that dancing hand 7:33 (turn off the sound and see a hand ballet unfold)
Pocket wifi can also be used to as wifi extender. Just go to its admin page then tweak it. My concern is, does this item detects the wifi stronger than the pocket wifi?
Pocket wifi? do you mean those devices that give you wifi signal and connect you via mobile cellular network? They are very popular in Japan but in my country they are not, here it's usually more convenient to grab another SIM card. So I never tried to do something like that
I don't really see the point, if you take a device like that and turn it into a wifi extender you can't use it as a mobile hotspot on cellular network. and if you want to be mobile and not connected on 1 spot, so you won't be able to stay on the same WiFi anyway... So, can you explain for what reasons would you use it this way? and, from which country are you? are those devices popular there?
You can but I learned it the hard way. you will need to find an old APK of the Mi home app, otherwise the new one might not be able to find it. the old version will easily find it. you might need to also reset the adapter by inserting a pin for a few seconds to the reset button.
@Dimus Tech Can you please give me an estimate as to how many meters (maximum) should the extender/repeater be placed from my main wifi router in an open space (outdoor)?
Sadly it really depends on the router and on it's neighbor networks etc. I think if you want the best result, grab so wifi testing app for your phone and find the spot that the signal strength is about 70% or so, when it's still stable but slightly worse. I think it will be the best place to put it there.
It's a small extender that can add signal to a spot in the room or in another nearby room. but it probably won't be enough to provide signal to another floor I think.
i keep trying to do this shit. I set my mi home region to mainland china since the repeater I got had chinese packaging and even the online retailer said it the mi home region should be mainland china, yet I still keep getting connection time out. I already set the router to wpa2 and aes and still connection time out.
The repeater should be close enough to the router to get a good signal from it, I would say it should be somewhere in the middle but your result might vary according to your environment.
it doesn't really matter where, the wifi is still the same wifi so there's no reason for it not to work. If you can't find it in the app, try maybe getting an older version of the app it worked for some people this way
I use the TP-Link TD-W9980 You can watch about it here: th-cam.com/video/HMHa2CaOWFc/w-d-xo.html If you are about to buy 1, I would really recommend finding the newer model with AC support but note that it doesn't have a modem so get a simple modem from your ISP and use it as bridge.
Well that would be optimal, but buying enough AP's and wiring everything to your router will require some work and will be expensive. I live in an apartment where my router can provide WiFi for the whole place (if positioned correctly) and since I place it in my room where my desktop PC and many other things + the ISP socket, I do need some extender at the other side of the apartment and that little Xiaomi does the job. I would also consider some Mesh routers, they are still expensive but work awesome and don't require wiring
The thing is that nowadays we just have too much interferences that's the main problem and living in a regular 2 storage house I had to put 6 APs to have it more less covered. Few years back one would be just enough to cover the house. Not a biggy to install them at least for me being an IT and it's not like they cost much... since it's not about quality but quantity any cheap 6-10€ AP would do fine and one main router on top of APs in each room. Only problem is to cleverly arrange wires but at least powering APs over LAN would help a bit.
You are right, BTW, I also work as an IT. I do think that if you get high quality AP's you might be done with 2-3 AP's but then again it's not that easy to know ahead what will work best for you (what makes the interference, which signal will penetrate better the type of walls in your house and so on) another way is to use adapters that run the network over your electricity sockets but that won't give you very high speeds and you need to make sure that all those adapters are connected on the same phase of electricity (in case your house get 3 phase for example) As it sounds for me, such a small Xiaomi wifi extender won't be good for you, you should take something bigger with better capabilities
agreed, awsome product, put in my workshop about 50 ft. from the house, works great.
Hey Bro do you like me to tell what's the name the thing which is under the WiFi repeater ( I mean the green mat I think) where do you buy it and what's the proper name of this product? Plz.
Imagine having to set the locale to India. What were they thinking. . . Anyways, you got it sorted out. Good job!
if i plug this to my pc will it work wirelessly even if i dont have the wireless dongle?
no, this is only an extender and the USB port only provides power. So in your case this won't help you.

ziblot123 country has to be China or us, just set it there regardless where you are
wauue that dancing hand it just keeps on going.. thrueout the video... I'm gonna miss that dancing hand 7:33 (turn off the sound and see a hand ballet unfold)
What??
😂😂😂 laughed my ass off,
Hats off to u man
srry for the questions but does it need the admin password to login
login to what? you configure it from your phone and you need to set the password for you existing WiFi so it will extend it.
xaiomi repeater in can this add MAC address..?
Please explain what do you mean
does it have a web interface
No, it doesn't.
The only way to control it is via the Mi Home app as far as I know
what if I purchase my repeater but I lost the Packet which attached is the QR Code. is there any other ways to set it up?
There's no need in the QR code, just download the Mi home app (you might need an older version)
Pocket wifi can also be used to as wifi extender. Just go to its admin page then tweak it.

They are very popular in Japan but in my country they are not, here it's usually more convenient to grab another SIM card.

DimusTech Exactly that one. The good thing about that is it has a battery.
I don't really see the point, if you take a device like that and turn it into a wifi extender you can't use it as a mobile hotspot on cellular network. and if you want to be mobile and not connected on 1 spot, so you won't be able to stay on the same WiFi anyway...

my mi home repeater always says connection error but the light is blue
Where do you see that error? and if you just connect with it with a device, does it work normal?
@@DimusTech The error comes up at the top of the screen and it doesnt work right
Please review if you can connect to other network again after the first setup
You can but I learned it the hard way. you will need to find an old APK of the Mi home app, otherwise the new one might not be able to find it. the old version will easily find it. you might need to also reset the adapter by inserting a pin for a few seconds to the reset button.
If I turn off the router when i switch it on again the repeater reconnect with no problem to the wifi? Thanks
Yes it is. I turn off my router every night and when I turn it on the repeater reconnects pretty fast to it.
@@DimusTech Do you still use it? i am also looking for a repeater to get signal on 2nd floor. is it worth it?
@Dimus Tech Can you please give me an estimate as to how many meters (maximum) should the extender/repeater be placed from my main wifi router in an open space (outdoor)?
Sadly it really depends on the router and on it's neighbor networks etc. I think if you want the best result, grab so wifi testing app for your phone and find the spot that the signal strength is about 70% or so, when it's still stable but slightly worse. Will the wifi extender signal can have access up to second floor?
It's a small extender that can add signal to a spot in the room or in another nearby room. but it probably won't be enough to provide signal to another floor I think.
i use mine to extend to the second floor, signal went from poor to excellent. couldn't stream 480p and 1080p works perfectly
i keep trying to do this shit. I set my mi home region to mainland china since the repeater I got had chinese packaging and even the online retailer said it the mi home region should be mainland china, yet I still keep getting connection time out. I already set the router to wpa2 and aes and still connection time out.
try to get an old version of the app, I also had to reset it once and I could find and set it only when I used an old version of the app
DimusTech I did use an old version of the app, one from early 2017. I've reset multiple times too and nothing helped.
Did you try to reset it from it's reset button as well? maybe try to connect it to some other network to make sure it's not something with your router
Connect time out problem
Is it after you configured it?
will it connect with 5 ghz wifi?
no, it only works with 2.4GHz
why need old bluetooh connection for configure?
Bluetooth isn't old, and ye it's not the best method for configuration but it works
which version of the mi home app did you use ?
of the app? that was a really old one, sadly I don't know which one was it.
Very nice review ;)
Thank you!
Should you put it close to the router or to the device you want to connect?
The repeater should be close enough to the router to get a good signal from it, I would say it should be somewhere in the middle but your result might vary according to your environment.
it does not work in europe
it doesn't really matter where, the wifi is still the same wifi so there's no reason for it not to work.
If you can't find it in the app, try maybe getting an older version of the app it worked for some people this way
Hi
Will this work with a macbook?
It's a WiFi extender, as long as your device supports WiFi 2.4Mhz it doesn't matter what device it is
This is not the item I bought it's similar
Hello, what is your main router? also Xiaomi? or other model/brand?
I use the TP-Link TD-W9980
You can watch about it here: th-cam.com/video/HMHa2CaOWFc/w-d-xo.html
If you are about to buy 1, I would really recommend finding the newer model with AC support but note that it doesn't have a modem so get a simple modem from your ISP and use it as bridge.
thank you.
There is sim card in the mi wifi repeater
no there isn't it wouldn't make any sense. if you know something else please provide some more info
There is sim in the mi wifi
bro, do you know why this repeater always disconnect?
Doesn't happen to me. check that your power supply to it is good enough and that the router you are connecting it to is close enough for a good signal
ah so youre getting NORMAL signal not with the exclamation mark signal?
yes...
can it only be plugged in a power bank
yes you can, but it's only a repeater so you will need to connect it to an existing network
thnx does it make the wifi faster even with slow signal
If you have a weak spot, it goes slower obviously, with this one it will increase it so the speed should be somewhat better but don't expect miracles
what's the max range?
I believe 5-10 meters at max. don't expect it to be high for such a price but it will do the job for a weak spot.
Bad review.
Please explain what wasn't good and what would you like me to improve
Sim card in the mi wifi
It's only a repeater, not a router and not a modem. so no sim card here.
Mine suddenly stopped working. Did a reset but always timeout on upon setting up again... now its useless
Oh, sad to hear that... maybe as a test ry with a different network
my this app is not work
Try getting an older version of the app
Problem repeater not working problem
owesome product 👍
*awesome
does it work for ios
I don't know if there's a Mi home app for iphones, but once it's set it's just as a WiFi hot spot regardless of the end device.
Well, the only defence they have is price. It is kinda pathetic.
Why? it's a pretty good product
OUTSTANDING professional review. Unfortunately useless for ordinary person. Keep on blubbering....
Nowadays every single room should have wifi AP connected through a wire of course
Well that would be optimal, but buying enough AP's and wiring everything to your router will require some work and will be expensive.
