Agnostism is about knowledge, not belief, so you can be either atheist agnostic or theist agnostic. Basicly, everybody is agnostic, because nobody knows is there a god.

An agnostic position is more along the lines that "It's impossible to tell whether there's a god or not". An atheist position should be more along the lines of "Im not convinced that there's a god based upon the existing evidence". I think there are many fellow atheists who fall into the trap of outright saying that there is no god. Problem there is that once you say that then you've made a claim which allows religious people to shift the burden of proof. Which is something theists love to do.

I'm over 80. When I was a child, I was as atheistic as anyone could be. BUT, I couldn't say so or risk serious injury. So, I kept my mouth shut and wondered if I would ever live to see a time when people could publicly talk about this subject without risking life and limb. I am delighted that that time has come. People, today, don't realize what a wonderful freedom they have to say what they believe. I wasn't always so....

In all seriousness, it's basically that Kasich is under the delusion that Radcliffe owes his success to God and that he should be grateful to God for it, rather than disbelieving. He hates falsehood out of fear for Allah and respect for the Messenger of Allah, and does not commit mistakes, but retains (in his mind) exactly what he heard (from the Prophet), and he relates it as he heard it without adding anything or omitting anything. He heard the repealing tradition, he retained it and acted upon it, and he heard the repealed tradition and rejected it. He also understands the particular and the general, and he knows the definite and indefinite, and gives everything its due position. The sayings of the Prophet used to be of two types. One was particular and the other common. Sometimes a man would hear him but he would not know what Allah, the Glorified, meant by it or what the Messenger of Allah meant by it. In this way the listener carries it and memorises it without knowing its meaning and its real intention, or what was its reason. Among the companions of the Messenger of Allah all were not in the habit of putting him questions and ask him the meanings, indeed they always wished that some Bedouin or stranger might come and ask him (peace be upon him) so that they would also listen. Whenever any such thing came before me, I asked him about its meaning and preserved it. These are the reasons and grounds of differences among the people in their traditions.

Even at the ripe age for religious conditioning and indoctrination of 5, I always knew that it was no different from any other fairy tale I read about. No amount of time in forced church and even Bible summer camps my parents sent me to when I said I didn't believe in any gods have or will change that. Just because you have to be mentally dependent on some big magic sky daddy doesn't mean everybody does or eventually will stoop to that level of dependence.

For many things, there is 'proof'; most people are willing to accept the tiniest probability imaginable something could not be true and conduct themselves without absolute knowledge as if they did with no problems. This is the same reason most atheists are also agnostics; we are merely acknowledging our limited human knowledge and the existence of that tiny sliver of unknown. Many of us are Dawkins scale sixes. We would never say something we can't know for sure is for sure. If I say some specific statement, I think I can prove it absolutely. There is not currently a blue whale resting on my pinky nail. I can know this for sure through direct observation. Possibly this could change if I found myself under one in the future, but I'm not appraising the future am I? I don't claim to know this will remain true. Maybe a blue whale will fall from the sky tomorrow or I go scuba diving. I can know at the penning of this statement (what now refers to) 100% and I could prove it. For the purposes of most human endeavors, 99.9__% is good enough proof.

In self searching for the reasons I deny religion I have found Ricky's explanations pretty spot on. I myself have found way more things to prove there is no god. Childhood cancer is #1 in my mind.

Although I'm Christian, I'm hated on by most other christians because of the questions I've always asked (such as: 'If God really does exist, why would he let all these innocent people die and suffer?") and my different opinions (I'm pro-gay.). I've had these questions and opinions since I was a child, and it makes me so sad that people will hate on other people just because of who they are; whether it's your race, gender, skin, sexuality, ect. It's even worse that most "christians" (or anyone) are so hypocritical because we are supposed to treat one another with love and respect, but then they hate people with different views and sexuality. That's fair. Looking it up, he did not like the term atheist. By all intents and purposes he was an atheist though. But terms mean different things to different people. He preferred the term agnostic for himself, but man was he against any dogmatic belief and stuck to his scientific principles. My favorite quote of his is "Better by far to embrace a hard truth that a reassuring fable. If we crave some cosmic purpose, then let us find ourself a worthy goal."

The Roman Catholic church is the origin of Christianity, all the other branches of it come from disagreements with the Catholic church. It's not an "adaptation", it's the original grandfather of Christianity.

I'm a proud agnostic that believe there's nothing wrong with people believing that there is a God, just hate the stupid practices. I don't see it as a one way ticket into heaven by showing up somewhere every Sunday and listen to some dude talk about it for 3 hours or I don't think you should treat him like he's some magic genie by praying/hoping for a good day tomorrow.
I'm glad you don't but dude there are over 10 different religions anyway, I never said which one and I can assure you that I have had this argument with people who believe you must show up early every Sunday and Wednesday to church with some money to donate. Back when I was forced to go I've literally witnessed multiple times people fighting over a seat closest to the front.

Actually religion is very intetesting to listen to. I was a christian once and in church we tried to find out the meaning behind the religious texts. As a atheist I'm also interested in religious texts as that is how ancient civilisations viewed the world and it's facinating how good ideas they had at the time. (I don't deny that it has some incredibly stupid texts if you compare it to our modern knowledge)
Well some people really care very little what your religious affiliation is. For instance, if I meet someone who was born into the Jewish or Catholic faith, I care about how HE treats people, not what religion he was born into.

Years back I read a japanese book titled "Hagakure" which was written in the early 1700's. Being an atheist that ppl were always trying to convert, I found a quote that resonated with me greatly... "It is a bad thing when one thing becomes two. One should not look for anything else in the "Way of the Samurai". It is the same for anything that is called a Way. Problem there is that once you say that then you've made a claim which allows religious people to shift the burden of proof. Which is something theists love to do.

I'm over 80. When I was a child, I was as atheistic as anyone could be. BUT, I couldn't say so or risk serious injury. So, I kept my mouth shut and wondered if I would ever live to see a time when people could publicly talk about this subject without risking life and limb. I am delighted that that time has come. People, today, don't realize what a wonderful freedom they have to say what they believe. I wasn't always so....

The Prophet (S) said: “Did you find this Universe qadeem [eternally pre-existent, without a beginning] or did you find it eternal? If you say so, then explain if you yourself are in the same physical and intellectual state as you are now and that you will remain like this forever. If you will answer positively, then undoubtedly, you will deny your own observation and reject the observation of the observers [in other words, you yourself were not in the same physical and intellectual state].”
Facing this question from the Prophet (S), the atheists replied: ‘No, we do not find this Universe pre-existent or everlasting.’
The Prophet (S) then said: “Then how come you said that the objects in this Universe are eternally pre-existent and eternal? And when you did not observe hudooth [contingency, coming into being] or inqadha6 (perishing, being transient) in this Universe, you called it pre-existent and eternal; while it was better for you, when you did not find eternal pre-existence and eternity in this Universe, to claim that this Universe is haadith [came into existence] and has inqadha (perishable). Alright, have you seen how the day and night come one after another?”

The Prophet (S) said: “So, through your affirmation, you have said that the night and the day that have passed display hudooth [coming into existence], while you have not observed it directly. Now, tell me you say that the Universe is eternally pre-existent and not haadith [something pre-existent]. Do you know what are the things that you will have to admit to and reject, based on your proposition?”
The atheists said: ‘Yes.’
The Prophet (S) said: “You have definitely observed that in this Universe, one thing is dependent over another because existence of anything in this Universe is impossible without its contact [or connection] with another thing. You may have seen how some parts of a building are dependent over others or else, the building would be unstable and not be able to stand as a unit [will fall] and this is true for everything [in this Universe]. The same is true for all other objects. So, when these objects, while being eternally pre-existent, require other objects for their strength and completeness, so now tell me, what would have been their situation and characteristics had they been haadith [having a beginning]?”
Imam Ali (as) says that after hearing this question from Prophet Muhammad (S), all the atheists were baffled and understood that it is impossible to acquire a new characteristic for a haadith object [something with a beginning] that is different from the characteristics of the objects which we call qadeem (eternally pre-existent).
The atheists stopped their discussion and said: ‘We wish to think over our matters for some time...’

@Prince Vegeta Someone [1] asked Amir al-mu'minin about concocted traditions and contradictory sayings of the Prophet current among the people, whereupon he said:
Certainly what is current among the people is both right and wrong, true and false, repealing and repealed, general and particular, definite and indefinite, exact and surmised. Even during the Prophet's days false sayings had been attributed to him, so much so that he had to say during his sermon that, "Whoever attributes falsehoods to me makes his abode in Hell." Those who relate traditions are of four categories, [2] no more.
First: The lying hypocrites
The hypocrite is a person who makes a show of faith and adopts the appearance of a Muslim; he does not hesitate in sinning nor does he keep aloof from vice; he wilfully attributes false things against the Messenger of Allah - may Allah bless him and his descendants. If people knew that he was a hypocrite and a liar, they would not accept anything from him and would not confirm what he says.
Rather they say that he is the companion of the Prophet, has met him, heard (his sayings) from him and acquired (knowledge) from him. They therefore accept what he says. Allah too had warned you well about the hypocrites and described them fully to you. They have continued after the Holy Prophet. They gained positions with the leaders of misguidance and callers towards Hell through falsehoods and slanderings. So, they put them in high posts and made them officers over the heads of the people, and amassed wealth through them. People are always with the rulers and after this world, except those to whom Allah affords protection. This is the first of the four categories.
Second: Those who are mistaken
Then there is the individual who heard (a saying) from the Holy Prophet but did not memorise it as it was, but surmised it. He does not lie wilfully. Now, he carries the saying with him and relates it, acts upon it and claims that: "I heard it from the Messenger of Allah." If the Muslims come to know that he has committed a mistake in it, they will not accept it from him, and if he himself knows that he is on the wrong he will give it up.
Third: Those who are ignorant
The third man is he who heard the Prophet ordering to do a thing and later the Prophet refrained the people from doing it, but this man did not know it, or he heard the Prophet refraining people from a thing and later he allowed it, but this man did not know it. In this way he retained in his mind what had been repealed, and did not retain the repealing tradition. If he knew that it had been repealed he would reject it, or if the Muslims knew, when they heard it from him, that it had been repealed they would reject it.
Fourth: Those who memorise truthfully
The last, namely the fourth man, is he who does not speak a lie against Allah or against His Prophet. He hates falsehood out of fear for Allah and respect for the Messenger of Allah, and does not commit mistakes, but retains (in his mind) exactly what he heard (from the Prophet), and he relates it as he heard it without adding anything or omitting anything. He heard the repealing tradition, he retained it and acted upon it, and he heard the repealed tradition and rejected it. He also understands the particular and the general, and he knows the definite and indefinite, and gives everything its due position.
The sayings of the Prophet used to be of two types. One was particular and the other common. Sometimes a man would hear him but he would not know what Allah, the Glorified, meant by it or what the Messenger of Allah meant by it. In this way the listener carries it and memorises it without knowing its meaning and its real intention, or what was its reason. Among the companions of the Messenger of Allah all were not in the habit of putting him questions and ask him the meanings, indeed they always wished that some Bedouin or stranger might come and ask him (peace be upon him) so that they would also listen. Whenever any such thing came before me, I asked him about its meaning and preserved it. These are the reasons and grounds of differences among the people in their traditions.

Similarly, doubt has also four aspects absurd reasoning; fear; vacillation and hesitation; and unreasonable surrender to infidelity, because one who has accustomed himself to unreasonable and absurd discussions will never see the Light of Truth and will always live in the darkness of ignorance. One who is afraid to face facts (of life, death and the life after death) will always turn away from ultimate reality, one who allows doubts and uncertainties to vacillate him will always be under the control of Satan and one who surrenders himself to infidelity accepts damnation in both the worlds.

Even at the ripe age for religious conditioning and indoctrination of 5, I always knew that it was no different from any other fairy tale I read about. No amount of time in forced church and even Bible summer camps my parents sent me to when I said I didn't believe in any gods have or will change that. Just because you have to be mentally dependent on some big magic sky daddy doesn't mean everybody does or eventually will stoop to that level of dependence.

For many things, there is 'proof'; most people are willing to accept the tiniest probability imaginable something could not be true and conduct themselves without absolute knowledge as if they did with no problems.
This is the same reason most atheists are also agnostics; we are merely acknowledging our limited human knowledge and the existence of that tiny sliver of unknown. Many of us are Dawkins scale sixes. We would never say something we can't know for sure is for sure.

I can know this for sure through direct observation. Possibly this could change if I found myself under one in the future, but I'm not appraising the future am I? That's fair. Looking it up, he did not like the term atheist. By all intents and purposes he was an atheist though. But terms mean different things to different people. He preferred the term agnostic for himself, but man was he against any dogmatic belief and stuck to his scientific principles. Catholic and Anglican are two Branches of Christianity. Anglicans are completely Christian, while Catholic is the Roman adaption of it.
The Roman Catholic church is the origin of Christianity, all the other branches of it come from disagreements with the Catholic church. It's not an "adaptation", it's the original grandfather of Christianity.

I'm glad you don't but dude there are over 10 different religions anyway, I never said which one and I can assure you that I have had this argument with people who believe you must show up early every Sunday and Wednesday to church with some money to donate. Back when I was forced to go I've literally witnessed multiple times people fighting over a seat closest to the front.

For example, 5 years ago my dog went missing and I saw a dream of me walking to the area he was.
The day after I walked in the path I walked in my dream and found my dog fortunately alive.
Actually religion is very intetesting to listen to. I was a christian once and in church we tried to find out the meaning behind the religious texts. As a atheist I'm also interested in religious texts as that is how ancient civilisations viewed the world and it's facinating how good ideas they had at the time.
(I don't deny that it has some incredibly stupid texts if you compare it to our modern knowledge)

Tribalism is what has been the cause for most dark deeds through history.
The Dark ages would definetly exist, belief would still exist, the Dark ages were controlled by Tribalism which we today have learned to control to a pretty big extent but is still very controlled by it.
Even the reason for why it is called the Dark ages was because christians named it that

Atheism IS a belief. It's a choice to not believe in theism. There's no facts to say the universe was or wasn't uncreated. Being agnostic is not a belief, but being an atheist is *absolutely* a belief.

I think (for the most part) atheists are more open to differences in belief. In my experience, I have had more religious people trying to impose their beliefs on me than I have seen atheists/agnostics do to theists.

Islam says you can be good without belief because it's a prerequisite to knowing God which is the true purpose of creation. Everything God allows you to do and prohibits you from doing in Islam is for your own benefit it's not forced upon you it's just there to help you and discipline you and hell is your own creation you chose that path and you suffered for no reason whatsoever

Years back I read a japanese book titled "Hagakure" which was written in the early 1700's. Being an atheist that ppl were always trying to convert, I found a quote that resonated with me greatly...
