As someone who built, and then blew up a 400 whp WRX - this is absolutely perfect. Numbers are solid, with that suspension car would be a blast, especially tuned by Ron.
My stock '17 WRX basically needs all of this. I had a tune when the car was new (warranty paranoia made me remove it). I really miss that one simple improvement, totally changes the car. Maybe it's time for that AccessPort again.
@@JHNBHNthis is true. Once you tune once, the ECU has history. I’d go ahead and keep the tune and maintain a good maintenance schedule and safe driving style (proper temps, Quality fuel and liquids topped off) I had a 2015 WRX full bolt ons and never had a single issue for 6 years.
love to see it two michigan dudes, car enthusiasts, great car banter and a perfectly safety tuned daily driver and track car that looks and sounds awesome
Be sure to tell Ethan that this WRX looks like perfection. This is EXACTLY what a WRX should look like - a perfect homage to the STI of yore. It is beautiful!
Gotta say, tastefully done. All of us with WRX's do it differently, and there are a lot of "right" ways to do it. This is one of those right ways. The only only only thing I would have done differently from the owner is I would have also at least gone with a GS or Cobb 3-port EBCS.
Upgrading the shifter components are a MUST in these. In my '21 WRX I did the solid bushings, shift stop and 3d printed my own nylon spacers to adjust the height exactly to where it was optimal, and I highly recommend a good short shift plate. It shortens the shifts by another 30% or so and also adds significant weight, making shifts solid. It's definitely a pain to install, but 100% worth it.
I've been researching this gen of WRX, early year models are getting more affordable. The Cobb accessport seems to be a must- even the basic tune smooths out the power curve and removes the annoying rev hang.
I upgraded to brass shifter bushing and with the oem short throw it was still really fun to drive even with all the rev-hang. The 2015 has the stiffest suspension on that generation wrx I think. I had to replace front wheel hubs at 80k miles it’s pretty stiff and sporty but still comfortable enough to daily in peace lol
Very similar to mine, which is a 2021 with 302 whp tuned by JrTuned. It's extremely fun to drive, however I travel a lot for work and it really drones and wears me out when I'm in it for a 4-5 hour drive.
Technically have no real world experience but my thought for tires is you want as wide as necessary to put down the power, and like any more than that is just slowing you down due to excessive friction. Of course this is for drive wheels, couldn't say the same thing for unpowered ones beyond you can still have too much tire for the car, obviously.
Wow, very tastefully modified! If I were to get a VA WRX, this would be pretty much exactly what I’d go for (or maybe all the same power/exhaust/drivetrain/brake stuff but lift the suspension for off-roady fun…TheTopher’s lifted BRZ shenanigans rubbing off on me!). Having driven a few stock VA’s when I worked at a Subaru dealer for a few months, I’m really curious what a tuned one like this would be like.
I just drove a 21 WRX and loved it apart from the messy stock tuning... This looks tasty. Maybe even worth giving up that warranty. Is the owner on TH-cam or Instagram?
I always wanted a subi but opted for the evo 8 MR for my first whip, why can’t Subaru do some major engine upgrades.? I think timing/heads good until 100k b4 need complete rebuild. Can’t stand the look/sound of the new gens and CVT trannies!!
Tuned by Ron.. anybody knows what happened to him? I know he had health complications but any word other than that? I am tuned by Ron too, E60 tune but waiting for Cobb to come out with the new FF kit to add bigger turbski, injectors, GS header and PW intake manifold 👍
The reverse is true, thou. Buy a WRX and make it as strong as an STI. Besides, its about the journey and not the destination. We dont say, why go fishing when theres fresh fish down at the grocery store.
I’ve got a 17 civic si 2 door sold it and got myself 21 wrx RS. Loved it!! Was thinking about sti but i need a daily and heard sti you will smile but smile per galloon 😂😂😂
The cringy corny car culture that gives the FULL name of the person who tuned your car needs to stop 😂. Literally, it's so cheesy. I mean you don't give full names out of people who did your timing belt 😂 Come on guys.

how'd you end up blowing it up? too much power?

Ay, Why aren’t you answering me?
Why remove? Once added i believe the flash history gets saved that it’s been tuned. You might as well full send 🔥

No point getting rid of the tune now. Warranty for the engine is goner.
Yeah dude, they'll know it was tuned. Might as well put it back on.

loved that you can hear the spooling and intake on revs. Nice!🔥🔥

I used the same tuner and he said at the very least need a ebcs to tune
Saturday Morning Coffee & a WRX video PERFECTION!
Tasteful mods. Not over the top trying to reach unreliable numbers for this platform. Very nice

A great driving focused mods by someone who loves driving. I’m looking forward to a jam session on dirt with the WRX and BRZ.
Ron Watson is 🐐
The owner looks exactly how I expected him to look cause he looks exactly like my friend with a wrx LOL.
I've been researching this gen of WRX, early year models are getting more affordable. The Cobb accessport seems to be a must- even the basic tune smooths out the power curve and removes the annoying rev hang.
I had the 2015 limited trim for 85k miles and kept it stock, never ran into a single problem with the car and I drove it pretty hard

I’m amazed at how antiquated these Subaru interiors are.
Antiquated sure, but better than full touch-screen everything like most every other car
@@blue-tb2fd I agree, but outside of the gauge cluster, some of their finishes and trim pieces look 10 years old.

Can't go wrong with a Subie wrx with mods, defiantly like the exhaust sound, tune, and the rims
that sounds hella good - I like the tasteful subdued look too
I had a 2020 wrx e30 tuned and loved it! Great build here!
Also have a 2020, bone stock other than an axel back and wheels. I want to get an accessport but don’t want to worry about reliability issues.
I feel like you've gone through the Ann Arbor exit more times than people who actually go to Ann Arbor

So glad you did this, been thinking about what (non-engine) mods to put on my stock '15

Oye, you need UEL headers to get the rumbles.. 2015+ WRX didnt come from the factory with UEL's, but the ones before it did (STI always had UEL's).
Should get a double mic set up for times like these.
Sounds awesome! Very taseful all around
Love this ,nice wrx , great way to start day coffee and subaru drive 😊
i got a 2023 as a daily driver and i still feel like i need to swap the brake pads lol
That’d be my first mod on a 2023 👍
Go for EBC Yellows if you wanna do some spirited driving. And you might as well do stainless steel brake lines with DOT4 brake fluid.
Great build! Good video as always.

A subaru with a warranty is a subaru worth driving
Would choose the previous gen WRX over the newer ones.

270 HP? i mean u can make 300 350 reliable on the fa motors
My VB puts that 270 up stock to the wheels on the dyno and screw that 2.0 they blow up before 100k miles stock. F24 a huge improvement
I wish you do a video with this car on WR Magazine
I def like wen u drive modified’s on here.

30k is pretty good in this engine it’s got another 30-40 till it pops as per usually with the WRX 😅

car is quiet for j pipe and exhaust usually they loud with j pipe
EQT Hybrid turbo MK7.5 GTI next!!!

I just got tuned by Ron about 9-10 months ago, but haven't been in touch since. Hopefully he's doing well!
