San Francisco Born and Raised; lived in Hurricane Gulch Sausalito, Blythdale Canyon Mill Valley and Belvedere Island. Family spent ‘70s Summers at Las Galinas Swim Club, Terra Linda to find the sun during foggy SF Summertime. Marin is sublime, a place with soul and even in 2020 only 250,000 fortunate folks call her home . . .

I’ve lived in Marin since 1965, when I was five years old. It is just so beautiful. I’ve been in San Rafael for most of that time and find the summers too hot, and my location is subject to flooding, I’m currently drying out my house from last weekend’s 20 inches of rain and the resulting flooding. The traffic has become a lot worse over the decades, but I try to go out in between the commute hours. If one can afford it, it’s a great place to live.

Hi Kimberly, I’m writing a book that takes place in Marin (Mostly Ross and SF) in the late 60s (1967-1970), yet I’ve never been to the west nor lived through the 60s! Is there anyway I can reach you and ask you a bit about what you remember?

If you have a little extra time and money it is wonderland. If you are just getting by with paying the rent, trying to buy a house and start a family, it is a challenge.

Grew up in Marin left at 41 years old... I am surprised that there was no mention of Samuel P. Taylor park or the Marin Art & Garden Center or the Greengulch Zen Center or Muir Woods. Respectfully, clearly not a native Marinitte who made this film.

Growing up in Marin County. I’ve noticed since it is so small and most of it is open space. Everyone kinda knows everyone. You even start to pick up on some of the dark things people are involved with or have done. Besides the Lululemon wearing Rich people, there is a lot of people living extremely low key lives in the middle of nowhere, ether due to tax evasion or something else.

I'm watching in hope of learning about where are these low-key areas you speak of.

I just moved back to Marin. I had been living in the east bay but the crime and homeless problem got to me. I’d hear gunshots at night. I just want to be safe. I’m having to pay a lot more but it’s worth it. The biggest mistake I ever made was leaving here. It’s so beautiful here. It heals your soul. ❤

Saludos. Pepe Romagosa, Madrid, España.

Marin used to be beautiful. Safe. Clean. The people (when I came) kind.
    Not anymore.
In the last few years it has begun to undergo ghettoization.
Graffiti. (There used to be none.) Trash. Dumping. (They have had to REMOVE some public garbage cans because of it.) Drugs. (There were always some here but the larger amounts coming in now are coming from outside the county.) Homelessness. (If you build it they will come. They came and are still coming.) Crime.
Anyone watching this video who is thinking of coming here?
    Save yourself the trouble.
Marin is changing and it is not for the better. (I know. I've lived here for decades.)
The beauty of Marin is fading.
It is sad to behold. 😓

Very pleasant and well done film but as far as capturing the soul and history of Marin... honey , it looks as though you had a short layover at SFO and went on a Sunday drive to visit a couple of random friends. My family roots in Marin go back 120 yrs and I am one of countless native born who could help.. Where is your interview with the Coastal Miwok tribe members or the old hippie from Bolinas or the artist/musician(and not the rock stars who transplanted there) who were tragically forced out of their homeland due gentrification as a result record high rents ... I hope you can spend more time in Marin in order to capture Marin's soul
This isn't it.....so I say visit and film again !

I grew up in Marin, beautiful place. But the truth is those land conservation efforts were used to keep Marin segregated. They like to use nice words to hide the true meaning of why they did what they did. Live anywhere else in the Bay Area and return to Marin and you’ll see exactly what I mean.

Sounds like a personal issue. Also native, glad to be back. If you think this is a shithole, you've got a very interesting definition. Not for everyone, but shithole it ain't by nearly any definition. guessing you've never been to a slum and a third world country where there is true poverty and ecological devastation.

Correction: McEvoy Ranch is in Petaluma which is Sonoma County (not Marin). Love this video but the music under the narrator is distracting

    • @FleshGolem420
      @FleshGolem420 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

So it's an odd thing about that area. A lot of places have Petaluma addresses but are on the Marin side of the line. They're probably a bit closer to Novato. Just one of those weird historical things.
