Bhat and Dal are staple food in many parts of India and nepal as well. Small fish is very good as it contains lots of calcium besides other minerals
In Nepal when you walk through someone house front lobby it’s not problem ..they welcome you with such a respectful & you have nothing problem with that..great Nepal…great people !!
Now go to thakali restaurant and taste their 'daal bhaat'. Order mutton one. You will love it. Finally FYI daal means lentil and bhaat means rice. It is usually taken with side curry and pickle. Salads papad ghee can be added too.
that's what I like about you always visit rural places of every country. but you did not visit villages in India. although you went to Alleppey in kerala and called it village but actually it is a city. my request to you is when you come back to India as you said please visit rural India you will love the country a lot more.

Pokhara (Baidam, Lakeside) and the surrounding villages will definitely be on my agenda as will Chitwan and the Kathmandu valley. This time I'm also hoping to visit East Nepal. Bhai, just for your info (and maybe you already know this by now), Dal = Lentils (Lentil soup); bhat = cooked rice; tarkari = vegetables. "Dal bhat tarkari" is what most Nepalis eat everyday, twice a day for breakfast and dinner. I love the Nepali khanna (food) and on my last visit I ate dal bhat tarkari twice a day, every day. In Nepal they say "Dal bhat power 24hour". On special occasions we also ate kukurako masu (chicken meat) or khasiko masu (goat meat - also called mutton in Nepal). Of course momo was a favorite snack as well. Newari food in Bhaktapur will also be on my agenda.
