Played both titles for more than a year. Is the same game, the only difference is the extra cars, multiplayer and the resolution. 1080p for switch and 720p for wii u. Great games!
Almost completely identical, from what I can see. The Wii U version looks fantastic and has aged incredibly well. The Switch version looks awesome, too, but I can't tell that it looks any better than Wii U, even in the far-off backgrounds where I'd expect cuts or improvements to be made.
I got both versions of this game (Hadnt played vanilla Mario Kart 8 since i bought a Switch back in 2019 due to the extras and the portability). Obvious differences, the first/top menu and title screen along with more iems on the menu like Labo Mode in example, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe can go up to 8 players (with of course more Switch consoles needed) while Mario Kart 8 goes up to four only, there are unlockables and DLC in Mario Kart 8, but are available from the beginning in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe with only 1 character to unlock (You can find that out for yourselves but be warned..... Unlocking the character is a pain in the ass) plus some new ones like The Inklings, King Boo, Dry Bones, Bowser Jr., and lastly Breath of the Wild Link (even tho he's just a palette/skin swap who comes as a free DLC patch), there are no original battle tracks in Mario Kart 8's battle mode which just uses the race tracks as the battlefield (Which is probably the only thing that makes the Wii U version worth playing or trying out), Mario Kart 8 Deluxe however has original battlefields that replace the old ones along with having more battle modes (i think) and two new battle items, the Boo and the feather from Mario World, more karts and accessories, All race tracks are available from the start in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe while four Grand prix cups are DLC in Mario Kart 8, 200cc wasnt available in Mario Kart 8 until later while its available at the start in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, the loading screen in Mario Kart 8 only has the racers from the base roster while Mario Kart 8 Deluxe has both the launch and DLC racers on the loading screens, you only carry one item in a race in Mario Kart 8, but get to carry two in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and you now have accessible features such as Smart Steering, and Auto Acceleration. Now for more subtle difference. One thing most Mario kart 8 players dont or didnt realize before was in Mario Kart 8, you couldnt drift and use the brakes at the same time. As of now in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, you can do that making the playing field more safe and fair, fire hopping was removed (Tho i never witnessed fire hopping before so i dont know what it is), there is LAN Mode in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe's online mode where you can have better internet connection when using a LAN cable and adapter unlike in Mario Kart 8, and now in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe you can change your racer and kart when in a waiting room as you could not do that in Mario Kart 8 originally. I STRONGLY suggest you get this game to anyone who owns a Switch or is getting a Switch as this is a must have and especially if you missed out/passed up on WIi U. And if you do have a Wii U but not a Switch and dont have Mario Kart 8 Deluxe but have the original Mario Kart 8, then dont waste your money buying the DLC in it as it is included in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. EDIT: I forgot to mention the fact that on Wii U, you have a giant button on screen designed with an emblem that represents the current used racer. If pressed, it honks the horns on the kart (which is already possible with using the bumper buttons). You can also see where the racers were at and what items they have too on Wii U's gamepad. There are things unique to the Wii U thats worth looking into, but i still give Deluxe the gold.
@@abdullakcI won't tell you what you should do but if you read this and thought its useless to buy Deluxe, then you might wanna relook at it again...... Like the new characters that AREN'T in the vanilla Mario Kart 8 game, and the Battle mode, and many others. But like i said to the last guy before he deleted his comment, to each their own.
if u have it on wii u , i strongly encourage you to not buy the switch version. its about the same and not worth it at all. i even suggest buying a wii u system and mario kart 8 on wii u and so u can access all the wii u library if u want to have some old games like mario world and many others.
I haven't played deluxe so I don't know if there's a substitute for this but on the gamepad you could see who's in what position clearly and what items they've got also that big emblem in the center of the screen which changes depending on character that you can press to honk your horn (of course you can do this with the shoulder buttons already)
This is from the early Switch era, but that's no bad thing, as that's around the time Nintendo at least gave half a dam about the console. This truly improves over the original in several ways, such as including all DLC content from the original (plus some all-new content), adds new features, greatly improves the battle mode, etc. Switch wins no contest
Switch Full RGB support, locked 60fps, 1080p Wii-U YUV 4:2:0 color, weird 59fps render output, cause mild stutter on 60fps HDTV's 720P. P.s I own both, so no 'hating' Wii-U version was still great when it came out.
I just got into Deluxe and honestly from playing the new courses, holy shit the game frame drops alot. I can't be the only one who notices that right? Was wii like that at all?
people are crazy to buy remakes at the price of a brand new top game. personally im tired of remakes and it makes me angry they sell this for the big price and so many still buy this. its totally useless. thats why i keep my old consoles now. they bring back old games to new systems all the time and they look about exactly the same. super mario bros u , mario all stars 3d which includes 3 old games , zelda breath of the wild and now also mario 3d world... why pay such a high price for an old game ? i dont understand those who buy this. you are even better buying the wii u system and get yourself the old version and this way you can also access all the wii u library. i just bought a wii u system (another because i already own one) with mario kart 8 , mario world , mario land , smash bros and another game for 250$ cdn. if i consider that the mario kart 8 and the mario world would cost me 180$ cdn , i paid 70$ to have the wii u system and 3 additional games lol... i saw mario bros u sold under 30$cdn while its sold 90$cdn including tax on switch. wake up guys!
Wii U claramente superior.

only a few things here and there but really not worth the price they ask for the switch version.
reflection is sharper and objects shadows appear from longer distance, thats pretty much it
Switch version has slight graphical improvements you can only tell if you on both games and consoles
@@marcelojogos6247 I’d say the decorations for the Wii U was good, but the actual game sucked in my opinion. Getting coins as final items 😭
The 2 biggest differences is about $40 and the work “Deluxe.”
+$35 for cheaply ported courses from a mobile game.
Wii U shows more detail on ground than Switch
A qualidade dos vídeos deste canal são impressionantes! Saudações de Portugal.
Good comparison. Sad that there will be a lot of Switch bias in the comments, though.
There's Switch bias, but imo, this port deserves the praise, unlike every other Switch port Nintendo made on the system.
Plankton's Robotic Revenge PS3 vs Wii U comparison since you own those versions and not the Xbox 360 version?

Both run 60fps. WiiU renders at 720p, Switch renders at 1080p if you wanta be a resolution snob lol.

Well a tie but according to DF the Switch version runs better due to none noticeable unless you're look for it frame skipped frames.
