'Not Just a Job': Legendary Performer Chonda Pierce on Sharing Christ Through Comedy

Renowned comedian Chonda Pierce is known for making audiences roar. But she's also an actress, with her new film "The Confession Musical" - a stage adaption of the New York Times best-selling book series “The Heritage of Lancaster County” - coming to theaters February 20 for a one-day-only event. Pierce joined CBN News' Billy Hallowell to discuss the production, her life, and her comedy career. "I am waiting to be canceled," she joked. "I don't know why they haven't found me yet." Pierce is reportedly the most-awarded female comic in history, despite being known for her clean comedy. When asked why she believes so much comedy is filled with expletives and unfortunate content, Pierce was candid. "Satan is one reason ... where there is light, there will always be dark trying to snuff it out." As for Pierce's own career, she said she's unfulfilled if she's not on a stage speaking about faith and what truly matters. "At this part in my career, when I step out on a stage and I do something where they say, 'Please don't do the serious stuff' or 'Please don't talk about Jesus,' I leave," she said. "They're feeling completely unfulfilled. It's just not a part of my calling. And, for me, my job is not just a job; I use it to uplift the name of Christ." Pierce said her faith remains strong, and she believes the Lord is the answer to everything. "I have a profound faith in Christ," she said. "I just think he's the answer to everything. I know it sounds silly and cliche." Watch Pierce share her story.
