私はあなたのビデオをとても楽しんでいます。私は職人からたくさんのことを学びます。動画を長くしてもらえますか?ありがとうございました。 I enjoy your videos very much, I learn a lot from the craftsmen. Can you please make the videos longer? Thank you.
I guess there was not enough metal to make nails in the ancient Japan, so people have to figure out how to make stable constructions with the wooden joints only. Very impressive. Please keep uploading more videos. ;) P.S. Yes, I love to speculate on things I don't know.
Bob Lake Who knows. I guess the kind of E connection (both sides with E's, I don't know the name) with nails should to the job without any complicated joints
yoyoyo Generaly speaking, people who make intricate structures with wood, like cabinet makers, etc, prefer not to use iron nails or screws, prefering wood dowels and glue instead. I'm told that, combined with a proper joint, the structure is more solid and lasts longer, as screws and nails eventualy bruise the wood and loosen.

Actually it is because those joints are earth quake resistent. ;) Impressive indeed.
Not a chance lol. These guys here are masters of their craft. The typical people who renovate houses are high school dropouts who turned into druggies or alcoholics.
Buildings (Mostly Shrines and Temples) built with this technique are still standing hundreds of years later, even after having withstood not only major earthquakes, but thousands of smaller ones, so they are very strong. A great thing about using this style is that there is no nails or metal joints to rust, or erode in less than 50 years ;)
Everyone, thank you for your comment.
As much as possible to use the Google translation, and return comments.

This style of wood structure construction is a thing of beauty. It's fine art!
Charles Maxwell Too happy.
Japanese traditional architecture and technique are impressive, I really enjoyed watching this video!
Most beautiful wood working I have ever seen.

I am a cabinet maker who trained in Australia. I think this type of work is amazing! Keep it up!
Simply amazing joinery. I wish they would come to the United States to teach us these techniques.
Japanese carpentry such as this is absolutely amazing 👍🏽
No conocía esta técnica y al decir verdad me asombró. mucha precisión en las mediciones. felicitaciones y gracias por compartir.
I wish you guys would put together a video on how these joints are made. i would love to learn this
There is an art to everything, and the Japanese continue to master them.
Such an incredible techniques used by our Ancestor, yes? Hope to learn and applied it
it there some books or dvd, showing how to layout the joint and make them.. will to use some on my garden house...
Wonderful techniques! Thank you for sharing.
I wish there were more Japanese doing this so in America we could learn! AWESOME!

That may be part of it, but the other reason is that joints like this are stronger than anything you could do with nails.

Hi it would have been nice if the video have subtitles, to make it more easier for the viewers who are not Japanese.
how long does it take to make an intricate joint like this?
exellent!
Thank you!
Очень красиво.
How do you compare structural strength of such joints? Is it the amount of wood left in the male part of the joint?
