Volkswagen steps into the electric hot hatch arena with the ID.3 GTX, offered in standard and high-performance GTX variants. The standard GTX boasts 282 horsepower, while the GTX Performance ups the ante to 322 hp. Acceleration times range from six seconds to 5.6 seconds for 0-62 mph. Both models share a 79 kWh battery, supporting rapid DC charging and offering an estimated range of 373 miles.
Design enhancements include a revamped front bumper with LED daytime running lights and a glossy black-finished diffuser for the GTX Performance. Inside, red accents adorn sport seats and GTX badging, complementing the new 12.9-inch infotainment system.
While the ID.3 GTX won't reach the US, it competes in Europe with models like the Cupra Born VZ and MG4 XPower. Looking forward, VW hints at the electric Golf superseding the ID.3, potentially transforming the GTX into the GTI, as part of its electrification strategy.
