- A massive thank you to the whole animation meme community and everyone who took part in the Ghost Meme Competition. The level of animations that you all made are just amazing and there are so many unique characters and storylines. It was almost impossible to choose only two winners, so we had to do another compilation just to show off all the runners up as well. Huge shout out to sir fluff for their insanely good original meme and help with launching the competition, and also to Yellow K9 and carleaux, our two winners. Hope you enjoy 🖤

this was definitely a learning experience for me, i was sure stressful but i gained experience and speed tactics! i hope to continue to grow in the future :)

Woah woah chill down, the contest was meant for everyone over the whole range of animation skills. Some animators may have gone to school for it or may already have an incredible amount of experience. Those people also already have a tablet, which was the prize. Of course the jury also chose less complex animations, of course they also chose less experienced people. People who would be very very happy with the win and the prize. If the winners would all just be those very popular, amazingly polished and professional entries, that would demotivate a lot of less advanced animators. They'd think: "See? I am not as good at animating as those other incredibly skilled people. I have no chance because they will just win anyways. So why bother joining. :(". And that is exactly the opposite of the point of this contest. It was meant to motivate people to animate. It was not meant to just promote already popular animators. I'm sure those are aware of this too and encouraged the choice of lesser known animators too. It's about the creativity of the community for them, not about 'being the best'. I'm sure you can understand that :)

@@nothere3982 well I mean, art is really subjective. Not objective. You could think a piece of art is trash and someone would die to have it. They are still being impartial, and as an artist myself I can see why they chose different entries, and was disappointed that someone didn't enter, but can recognize that the entries are all high quality and deserve to be there.
@@albagonzalez548 yeah, art may be (even though it follows some standards and it's not as abstract as you make it seem, and it also has rules.).
But this is not only art, we are talking about animation. The execution in both entries are really different, and the winner was not as good as many others applications that did not even get a place here.
There are some things an animation must have. Animations have principles, and as better they are executed the better the animation is.
A judge should be able to follow this criteria when deciding what's better as any other judge should apply the criteria needed in other cases, if not they are being unfair to every contestant that participate in their contest.
@@nothere3982 I think you haven't seen the first place fully animated. The way gou talk makes you look like you know what you are saying, and those standards are fulfilled in the animation. Also, tbis art is really subjective and the only standards would be style consistency, colouting shading and anatomy, since none of the styles shown are realistic, there are no standards ofhow they would look. They are unique styles and you might think they are good or not, it's still your opinion.

It doesn't matter about animation, smoothness can only get you so far. The lack of fluidness, story telling, and visuals are the real reason why those were just runner ups.

Kinda surprised at these results, I heavily disagree with some of it honestly. So at first, I saw the first place and said: hmmm, the style is really pretty but I can't see why it's in the first place. So then I looked it up to see it by myself and. MY GOD. The animation is wayyy smooth and I love it! Plus the story is simple and you can understand it even if you don't know about the full lore. Its just amazing, and by looking at it a second time I could really appreciate it. So, for everyone saying that the first place shouldn't be the first place, watch it again! I can really see the dedication and how good the animation is now

The storytelling in that one was great, for such a short meme. You could tell what was going even without watching any other videos. The others were just random, or you needed to watch other videos to know what’s happening.

Was expected to be blown away by first place after seeing how good the runner ups were, needless to say it’s rather underwhelming. Second place and some runner ups were absolutely breathtaking though, but I get the reasoning, giving small improving artists a chance at winning definitely motivates more artists to join future contests, at least the people with amazing art got their huge recognition and exposure! Congrats to everyone! :>
Yes but the storytelling on the first one was great, and simple. You didn’t need to watch any other videos to get what is going on. The others were random or needed other stuff to be explained. It’s not always based on art, it’s also based on creativity :3
