I had to chuckle when you said older homes built in the 60s and 70s. Since that is within my life time and growing up south of there near Oak Alley and other plantations I always think of old as before the civil war. My family had a new summer house (according to my late great grandmother) somewhere in Abita Springs that was built about 10 years after the civil war. LOL

Good to see that the queen was on board when you returned to the abbey. Hope Good Time Charley had a successful fishing outing, and fed you a tasty trout treat upon his return! You keep these videos coming, I will be looking and watching Mr. Ed! -Bob...
Thank you Jesus! What a pretty queen too. I wish I was there to eat some trout with Charlie. I had Steelhead for dinner last night. A young man, who is a neighbor, caught it and shared. Delicious!

Another goodie. You pulled off a great solo wrangle AND got some fresh fish in the bargain! 😅 Honestly, it's amazing that you did that whole removal so smoothly AND captured it all on film to share with all of us! Seriously, that's a lot to manage. I know it's more fun with your good buddies, but I imagine it's also a peaceful meditative process when it's just you and the bees too. Good one!
Good morning Mr. Ed, from the lakes region of NH where it's 44 degrees at 6am on Saturday morning. Had the bear tear my compost pile apart day before yesterday... so that did it, my back yard is now electrified. The trick now is to not go sleepwalking and do an accidental fence check⚡😵💫⚡🤣 It always amazes me how the bees fill the various spaces with comb. Thanks for bringing all these wonders to us. Take care, Brice
That is great work by yourself my brother. I was just telling your story to a friend of mine that I’m staying with here in Denmark. I am in the Danish countryside and several of his neighbors are beekeepers. I have spread the word about Your channel! Headed to give a talk in Dublin next week and then finally back to mid city on June 12. All the best Eric
What a good friend you are, spreading the news of Mr. Ed! How exciting it must be traveling abroad, I had no idea you did that sort of thing much less giving talks, you just go on with your bad self! Hope all is well with your family, God's peace brother. Mr. Ed

Thank you for sharing bee behavior! I’m always amazed by your knowledge. I love your love for Jesus and how you always acknowledge him when you find the queen. God bless you, hopefully good time Charlie has a great day fishing!
Alls good that ends well - always nice to find the queen & I wish I was as experienced as you at finding her! Considering you weren't sure if she had gone up behind the brickwork do you ever spray some pesticide or soapy water up there just in case you've left enough behind with a queen to start again? I've had 2 attempts at removing a swarm generator in some old tyres buried under a water tank & although I didn't find the queen I had removed all the comb & didn't think I'd left enough bees behind to support a revival + filled the cavity with old feed sacks & moth balls for the smell hoping to fill the dead space & so not leave it as attractive for another swarm to move in.... but they're still there so will probably have another go in spring.....
I possess no special skills when finding the queen, it's always a grace when I find them. Hence, the "Thank you Jesus!" The only thing I spray is the Honey Bandit, and trust me, NOTHING stays where it was sprayed unless there is a space further back the bees can run to which is what probably what happened with your swarm. Thanks for watching. God's peace Rachel. Mr. Ed
Wasn''t you saying the other day in the live that you always have some one to hold the camera hahaha The vid with Rooster and Fred? Been catching up on all the videos last few days. I hardly come on youtibe at the moment as massive 20 acre Treatment free bee keeping yard is taking up so much time. Glad you found the queen. Great job as always Mr Ed.
Love the fact that you are treatment free as I am the same way, but I have no objections to those who do treat. As beekeepers, each one of us has the right to determine which is the best way to keep their bees alive. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
You are going to love how simple and fast the method is. I buy the rubber bands off of Amazon, they are 7 X 1/8 inch and come in a box of 200 for about $12 US. 🤦🏼♂️🙋♂️I have skills when everyone is busy. Harry’s helping hand is available. Can’t beat free labor. I’m right around the corner from you. God bless!
Good morning, I would say you are their knight and shining armor, Mr. Ed. Love the video. The comb is so beautiful and clean looking. I bet the taste is really good.
Brand new comb is always so beautiful to look at. By the way, I post a new video every Friday morning, and I look forward to hearing from you again soon. God's peace Elijah. Mr. Ed
I’m fascinated by the geometry of the comb. They always seem to have some kind of curve to them…very non-Euclidean geometry. I would imagine that they know what’s best for air circulation.
It has always amazed me how the bees construct the comb, but it is built to channel air to maximize it's movement through the hive. Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my over 600 bee wrangling/ bee rescue adventure videos and let me know what you think of them. By the way, I post a new video every Friday morning, and I look forward to hearing from you again soon. God's peace Paul. Mr. Ed
You do a really good job by yourself so I'm thinking it's Sir Charles that needs supervised! NICE hive so yall have a Jesus weekend and God Bless ALL Yall!
Jeff, I love your relaxed nature and soundtracks on these removals. I'm sure it's not always laid back, but I get so much pleasure from watching those bees headed to a new home and your respect and reverence for God's creatures, great (and in this case...) and small. I'm sure Charlie wished he was there. :) Peace! - Jeff
Every time Charlie misses an adventure he has regrets for not being there...until he starts catching those big trout. Then, he forgets all about me and the bees. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
Almost all the hives I have been removing recently have the same beautiful comb in them. It is a real beauty for sure. By the way, I post a new video every Friday morning, and I look forward to hearing from you again soon. God's peace Susan. Mr. Ed
I notice you are leaving the bees on the brood comb which I get, was there a particular incident or study that led to you doing this? That is a beautiful hive. Have a great Memorial Day ... Karen
It started when I was doing removals in the winter, and I wanted to keep the brood alive. It worked so well I have decided to continue the practice and it is working out very well. God's peace Karen. Mr. Ed
Though it did appear to look like her, it was not, just another worker. Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my over 600 bee wrangling/ bee rescue adventure videos and let me know what you think of them. By the way, I post a new video every Friday morning, and I look forward to hearing from you again soon. God's peace Jennifer. Mr. Ed
I agree, this hive can't be more than 8 to 10 weeks old. Very impressive the amount of comb they built in such a short period of time. Thanks for watching. God's peace Alec. Mr. Ed
Jeff, I like the colored walmart rubber bands. 3 colors. Pink is for girl brood. Blue is for boy-brood. And purple is for mixed/other comb! My bees have told me that they really, really appreciate the ADHD color coordination! Haha... BTW, I've always just sucked up the queen into the vac, she does just fine in there.
I liked the WalMart rubber bands as well, the problem was they never had enough of them in stock or they were just out of them. Now I order them off of Amazon 800 at a time. I agree, the queen does just fine in the vac. God's peace brother. Mr. Ed
You are the best removal technician on the toob. I have a removal tomorrow and the bees are in between the brick and the exterior sheathing of a commercial building. Do you have any experience with this type of removal? I did the same type of removal 2 years ago and the comb/bees fell 2 stories between in the void. Thanks
I do not have a lot of experience with that type of removal. I do know this, it is VERY difficult. I wish you all the best on the removal. God's peace brother. Mr. Ed
Can you do a video on how to read a bee box? How to know when they will swarm if not split.? How to know bee jelly and more of instrumental to knowledge of such? Ty Mr Ed. 😊
Do you keep the gentle bees in a separate yard to keep track of them for making more queens with those easy going genetics? Or do you keep track of them another way?
I do not. I place all the removals I do in our general yard. That way, the genetics get mixed with all the other hives out there. For me, that is the easiest and best way to do it, and we have over 200 hives right now. Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my over 600 bee wrangling/ bee rescue adventure videos and let me know what you think of them. By the way, I post a new video every Friday morning, and I look forward to hearing from you again soon. God's peace Sybil. Mr. Ed
So full of stingy things But if I don’t frighten the bee The bee won’t sting me. They only have one shot. That’s what Dad taught me😢😅😊 I miss his lessons
Vielen Dank, Sandra. Herr Ed
Great videos I’ve learned a lot from your channel and I think you have an awesome platform, but please play music over the vacuum cleaner when you’re working it would help immensely
As you saw in this video I did it both ways. I prefer listening to something other than the bee vac, but as there are so many preferences in music, sometimes I just let the vac run at a decreased volume. Thanks for watching. God's peace Malcolm. Mr. Ed
Another beautiful queen bee for sure. In the video I did show what each frame looked like after I placed the comb into it. Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my over 600 bee wrangling/ bee rescue adventure videos and let me know what you think of them. By the way, I post a new video every Friday morning, and I look forward to hearing from you again soon. God's peace. Mr. Ed
@@JeffHorchoff I saw the recovered plasters that you mounted in frames. I wanted to see how the bees would repair them. I watch your videos when I have some time.
Who knows what the future will hold, but my guess if you are doing those things right now, you are going to do some wrangling in the future. Thank for your support and for watching Ray. Mr. Ed
Did that last frame with nectar (and soft comb) make it or did it collapse? With the high risk of collapse, I would have put it on the other side of a blank frame for the transport, so it can't collapse onto a brood frame.
Sometimes it just has to bee that way. Of course when Charlie see the job I did videoing, it will assure his place on our team. God's peace Reggie. Mr. Ed
Wow Jeff it's to bad you couldn't get a Bee removal near a fishing hole for Goodtime Charlie that way he can go fishing after the job what do you think about that idea.
Sounds pretty good in theory, but in reality, by the time we finish a cut out Charlie is ready to eat lunch and then take a nap, and that's about all the energy he has for the day. Thanks for watching. God's peace Ray. Mr. Ed
I concur, I can see three advantages to doing something like that (not necessarily a ladder, some other high stand will also do): 1) It is less time consuming 2) There is less wear and tear on your knees 3) It will be easier for the bees to find and settle on the brood, saving you some vacuuming and making sure there are enough bees on the brood
In theory that sounds like a good idea, but in practice it is not. Anytime I work off a ladder it is a dangerous situation. Going up and down a ladder is a lot safer than trying to reach over one ladder to place comb into a chest that is perched on top of another ladder. Still, I appreciate you trying to make my job easier. Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my over 600 bee wrangling/ bee rescue adventure videos and let me know what you think of them. I do think these bees have a good hygienic trait, as well as great gathering abilities...along with a very good laying queen. I do not treat for mites at all, nor have I done it in all the 40 plus years of keeping bees. Thanks for watching. God's peace Christina. Mr. Ed
Sometimes they do, but more often the bees will cut them and drag them out of the hive. Lately, I have been gong back into the hive a week later and undoing them myself, and that seems to work very well. Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my over 600 bee wrangling/ bee rescue adventure videos and let me know what you think of them. The holes in the brickwork aren't just big enough for the bees to go through into the wall. They're also big enough for cockroaches, ants, and other vermin to enter the house. That's a very shoddy piece of building!
The storm did not get to the abbey so our bees are just fine, and Randy is whooping me pretty good in the competition. Thanks for watching. God's peace Larry. Mr. Ed
Hi Mr. Ed, thanks for the video. Which thermal camera are you using? How long have you had it and how do you like it? When using the cooler to transport brood comb, are you using any type of pizza box support or anything to prevent pancaking?
The thermal camera I now use is from Vevor, and you can get it for about $280.00 by using the code VEVORSALE5 and for signing up with Vevor. The camera works great and I have been using it for about 6 months now. It may be something worthwhile looking into. The video link below is a video I made showing it off. When I place the comb in the chest I simply stand them top side down laying them against each other for support and sharing heat. Thanks for watching. God's peace Dan.
Mr. Ed
🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝 Beeutiful video as always Jeff.
You did a great job by yourself Mr Ed. You can do anything. Great video god bless you and the bees
Beautiful comb those bees didn’t look happy you were moving them at first .😬🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝
At first they were not happy at all for my intrusion, but they did calm down after a bit. Thanks for watching. God's peace Grace.
Mr. Ed
I just found that method of rubber banding and is it ever easy!! Nice looking combs you have too!!
You are going to love how simple and fast the method is. I buy the rubber bands off of Amazon, they are 7 X 1/8 inch and come in a box of 200 for about $12 US. Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my over 600 bee wrangling/ bee rescue adventure videos and let me know what you think of them. By the way, I post a new video every Friday morning, and I look forward to hearing from you again soon. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
What a glorious hive. Probably the best frames i've seen you do. GOD BLESS
🤦🏼♂️🙋♂️I have skills when everyone is busy. Harry’s helping hand is available. Can’t beat free labor. I’m right around the corner from you. God bless!
I'm calling you the next time Charlie is unavailable....bee ready. God's peace brother.
Mr. Ed
Good morning, I would say you are their knight and shining armor, Mr. Ed.
Love the video. The comb is so beautiful and clean looking. I bet the taste is really good.
Beautiful cone Mr Ed god bless
Thank you for showing me that they are not that scary ❤
Very beautiful comb!
Brand new comb is always so beautiful to look at. Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my over 600 bee wrangling/ bee rescue adventure videos and let me know what you think of them. By the way, I post a new video every Friday morning, and I look forward to hearing from you again soon. God's peace Elijah.
Mr. Ed
Thanks for sharing Jeff,love it.
Bees are fascinating 😊
I feel the same way, and I'm very blessed to be able to be around them so often. Thanks for watching. God's peace.
Mr.
You have to remember, there was a BC, before Charlie, when I first began. God's peace brother.
Mr. Ed
@@JeffHorchoff SOOO RIGHT! Blessings 2 U!
Mr. Ed
Such pretty new comb!
Almost all the hives I have been removing recently have the same beautiful comb in them. It is a real beauty for sure. Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my over 600 bee wrangling/ bee rescue adventure videos and let me know what you think of them. By the way, I post a new video every Friday morning, and I look forward to hearing from you again soon. God's peace Susan.
Mr. Ed
I notice you are leaving the bees on the brood comb which I get, was there a particular incident or study that led to you doing this? That is a beautiful hive. Have a great Memorial Day ... Karen
Jeff mentioned the bees left on the brood comb help keep it warm
It started when I was doing removals in the winter, and I wanted to keep the brood alive. It worked so well I have decided to continue the practice and it is working out very well. God's peace Karen.
Mr. Ed
I think I see the queen on the edge of the comb at 11:16.
Mr. Ed
Really nice hive, the most impressive thing is that is not an old hive may be a month or 2… What you think? They built all that massive cones…
I agree, this hive can't be more than 8 to 10 weeks old. Very impressive the amount of comb they built in such a short period of time. Thanks for watching. God's peace Alec.
Mr. Ed
I certainly hope Charlie caught enough fish to go round.
Just to let you know, he did give me a big bag of filets. Thanks for watching. God's peace Alan.
Mr.
Ty Mr Ed. 😊
Thank you for the suggestion, and I will do it soon, Stay tuned. God's peace Marilyn.
Mr. Ed
Hive beatle....11:56
Liked the stillshots.
Mr. Ed
So full of stingy things
But if I don’t frighten the bee
The bee won’t sting me. They only have one shot.
That’s what Dad taught me😢😅😊
I miss his lessons
I miss both of my parents as well. God's peace Linda.
Mr. Ed
Sehr schön ❤🐝
Vielen Dank, Sandra.
Herr Ed
Great videos I’ve learned a lot from your channel and I think you have an awesome platform, but please play music over the vacuum cleaner when you’re working it would help immensely
As you saw in this video I did it both ways. I prefer listening to something other than the bee vac, but as there are so many preferences in music, sometimes I just let the vac run at a decreased volume. Thanks for watching. God's peace Malcolm.
Mr. Ed
Thank you Jeff xoxoxo
This queen is big. Please show what the rebuilt frame looks like.
Love watching you wrangle them bees. Maybe someday I'll be able to do a removal. For now, swarm traps n splits are my game.
No, I had to take it out, way to soft and messy. Thanks for watching. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
Ya know, Charlie might inspire me to take the 2-hour drive to the coast and see if I can get a striped bass to tow my kayak around.
Time's a wasting, get going! God's peace Brice.
Mr. Ed
Running Solo on that, huh Mr. Ed? Thanks for sharing Brother......🙏🏾🤝🏾🇺🇸💪🏾🫡
Sometimes it just has to bee that way. Of course when Charlie see the job I did videoing, it will assure his place on our team. God's peace Reggie.
Mr. Ed
@JeffHorchoff I sure understand how it is sometimes, and I appreciate you Mr. Ed. GODS peace and blessings to you as well Brother......🌄🙏🏾🤝🏾🇺🇸💪🏾🫡
Mr. Ed
i think the queen was on the last small frame i saw a large yellow spot moving around.
All I know for certainty was she was in the bee vac as I saw and captured her once I released them. Thanks for watching. God's peace Jennifer.
Mr. Ed
Nice video. 👍
Thanks Jeff
Ed, if you would have scored the paint line with a razor you may have saved the trim. That said, I've done it too ;>
The trim was so old and brittle, plus the nails were so big, it broke at every nail spot. Thanks for watching. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
In future, why not put the chest on another ladder next to you so you don't have to climb up and down so much?
I concur, I can see three advantages to doing something like that (not necessarily a ladder, some other high stand will also do):
1) It is less time consuming
2) There is less wear and tear on your knees
3) It will be easier for the bees to find and settle on the brood, saving you some vacuuming and making sure there are enough bees on the brood
By the way, I post a new video every Friday morning, and I look forward to hearing from you again soon. God's peace Joy.
Mr. Ed
Great video.
Those are nice bees. Do you think that they are tending toward the hygienic trait? How often do you treat for mites?
I do think these bees have a good hygienic trait, as well as great gathering abilities...along with a very good laying queen. I do not treat for mites at all, nor have I done it in all the 40 plus years of keeping bees. Thanks for watching. God's peace Christina.
Mr. Ed
does the rubber bands break after time.
By the way, I post a new video every Friday morning, and I look forward to hearing from you again soon. God's peace Debra.

The holes in the brickwork aren't just big enough for the bees to go through into the wall. They're also big enough for cockroaches, ants, and other vermin to enter the house. That's a very shoddy piece of building!
What plastic foundation do you recommend?
There are a lot of them out there, but I use foundation from Premier Bee Supply. Thanks for watching. God's peace Howard.
Mr. Ed
a nice colony of bees at least it was not a huge job without any help
It was big enough, but because the bees were so gentle, it made the job so much nicer. Thanks for watching. God's peace brother.
Mr. Ed
@@JeffHorchoff nice bees are nicer to keep ,that would be why people requeen
Nice man brilliant.😂 love it.
How well did your hives do after yesterday’s bad storm?
Is the swarm competition with the Dirt
Rooster in process?
The storm did not get to the abbey so our bees are just fine, and Randy is whooping me pretty good in the competition. Thanks for watching. God's peace Larry.
Mr. Ed
So beautiful😮😊
good morning Jeff
You were up early to watch, thank you so much for doing so Nancy. God's peace.

Just curious have you made a video on bee suit recommendations?
I have not, however if you have seen many of my videos I am wearing only 1 jacket, and it comes from Guardian Bee Apparel. That is the one I always recommend. At 913 minutes, at the 12 o’clock on the screen there is a bee chasing something? It is on the white board. Mite?
It was chasing a hive beetle. That is one of the jobs of a nurse bee, keeping the beetles in check.
