    I have a brick home. Will this work it looks pretty simple

    • @StuccoPlastering
      @StuccoPlastering  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Howdy Hank, ys this will work; however, you can't use nails as they won't work unless they are pounded into the grout. There's no way of finding grout under the styrofoam. I have used red tape to adhere them when going over blocks or bricks. You should hang them well, with constant pressure for a minute or two, then use the red tape to hold them in place for an extra few hours.

    Hey Kirk, I got a laugh out of your comment that arches never turn out perfect in the real world. I make my own wood trim arches and ellipticals to fit trimmed openings, the heads of doorways and heads of windows. I make a lot of the trim for the contracting company I work for to match the existing trim in the house. If they are more than an 1/16 of an inch off I might have to make new ones which could mean days of work in the garbage. Look up the Williams and Hussey moulding machine that's what I use.
    Thanks for the videos Kirk you really do a great job!

      I think his point is he too deals with imperfect work he has to match or replace and if he has too many gaps he probably can not just wood fill them up :)

      The cement coating is only or roughly an eighth inch thick. Nails go through it quite easily. Then tap them in flush with the stucco the fiberglass mesh netting and foam will then hold the nail. 😉

  • @drbrycedavis

    Kirk did you apply a fiberglass mesh over the foam prior to applying the coat? What are the steps for prepping the foam for the finish coat?

    Larry, love your vids btw. Question for you: i recently had to repipe my plumbing and some of the plumbing is showing across my front house stucco. I am thinking of covering those plumbing to blend in with the stucco, by covering them up with stucco bar? Do you have any suggestions?

    • @StuccoPlastering
      @StuccoPlastering  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Howdy Andrew, If it were me I'd apply another coat over the front from corner to corner and feather this area in better so that the outline does not show.
      FYI, to place a stucco styrofoam type of belly band over the top of are that show the pipe, more than likly wont ine up perfectlyy to make it appar that the band covering was intenshnal.
      Type in some of our, (feathering vidoes) to see how it's accomplished.

      Hey turbo plaster and singer dude, I hate sanding too, but I don't snivel, I apply plaster instead. Which means I can do a complete room with plaster that does not require any sanding.
      Sanding ranks next to breaking out stucco which for 15 years I keep saying I'm not doing that dusty, dirty, drag of a shit stuff anymore, but alas tomorrow I'm doing it again.
      Bottom line is I'd rather be doing something I dislike than watching stupid stuff on the computer that amounts to doing something close to nothing.

      Poly isnt junk ya fool. Yes, what they did in this vid its fair to call it very mediocre. But! Poly done right, is cheaper alternative to brick, better insulating properties, has quite good fire retardant rating,in terms of double-storey homes it helps to keep the top level/overall weight of the house to be considerably lighter.
