I dunno if it was already said to you but basically upgrading the waves boosts the creeps all the other player gets, the reason why at the end the other player was only getting science vessel is because you stoped upgrading the wave. The waves you got were tougher because he kept upgrading his

correct upgrading your wave also upgrades everyone elses waves even more so its in your best intrest to make your wave barely managble to you while upgrading your own towers
