  • Timelapse of replacing cylinder studs on a M8 131. Torque specs for theses are 120-240 in-lbs. 13.6-27.1 Nm. Don’t forget to clean the threads out with a thread chaser not a tap!

Harley says torque studs to 120-240 in-lbs. 13.6-27.1 Nm. Best way is to put a steel ball in head bolt to torque down. I couldn’t find my ball bearing so I locked 2 nuts together. New Harley studs should have thread locker on them.

I built a m8 stock motor .When I was tightening the camplate the crank shaft won't turn .but when I loosen the camplate screws the crank turns .Is that really bad run out or a warped camplate.

@@pharaohnile867 Did you check the runout on the crank with a dial indicator? Is plate & pump aftermarket or stock? Did you use recommended procedure for tightening plate & pump Down? I install plate & pump screws to hand tighten. No more than 12-60 in lbs. I just bottom out by hand. Not tight at all. If motor is in bike put in 6th gear & rotate wheel so crank rotates 2 times. Make sure you take out a plug for each cylinder if top end is together. This helps center pump in plate. Then tighten plate in sequence. HD says 90-120 in lbs. then tighten oil pump 90-120 in lbs.

@@1jrlord17 yes everything is stock .I just had the crank rebuilt .btw I got the crank at ebay I had it rebuilt so the run out should be ok. But theres something going on with the camplate and shaft . Maybe I torque the camplate in the wrong sequence il fallow your instructions and see how it turns out.
