Does That Fan Even Work?
Here’s a quick way to test the fan operation installed on the oil cooler of a Harley touring bike. Some wonder if it’s even working because you almost ever hear it come on.

Removed Cowbells On Your Harley Touring Now What?
มุมมอง 15Kปีที่แล้ว
Removing the cowbells from your Harley Davidson touring bike leaves the top of the fork lowers unfinished. Before you reinstall the fork legs you can add some dust covers to complete the look. You can get these at any Harley dealer or after market source. Here is Harley’s part # 46512-01A.

Easy way ❌ Right way ✅
Yeah this doesnt work on an old bike thats been sitting 😂
That's a dust cover. ( Seal ). Should be there anyway. Protects the actual seal. Needs more cowbell.
@@garywilsonwilson893 would be nice if the dust seals were there but they are not on the touring models with “cowbells”. I guess the motor co feels covering that area with covers protects the seal.
Can you drop a link for the thread cleaner set?
Sure, see how well that works an old bike that’s been sitting a while I can tell ya, it deff ain’t this easy. Heat gun got one side out but the other side ain’t budging
Sure not every situation is the same, but more often then not they will come out pretty easy.
@1jrlord17 stop talking out your ass and go find affordable health care 😂
@@1jrlord17 Just did it this week for a 20 year old bike. Even my mate who benches 180kg could not do it. I ended up filling forks full to the brim with oil and put it under hydraulic press to pop those seals. Easy, just wasted 1l of old oil and used petrol to rinse parts before assembly.
If they say for dyna or v rod will they still work if part number is the same?
Yes. Technically they don’t make them for the touring because those models come with the cowbells. But they will fit 49mm
@@1jrlord17 ok, cuz i cant find them otherwise and my dealers parts department wont answer the damn phone
Any idea where to look for dash tank gaskets for 2013 Harley’s? H-D just said they stopped making them…
The dealer was the only source I knew of. I haven’t really looked anywhere else. You could call around to different dealers to see if they have it on the shelf
Nice video
Thanks
Are those inverted forks?
No these are not inverted forks
So if you score the stanchion (chrome tube) its basically game over in terms of oil staying in the tube?
The smoother they are the better it helps the oil stay in & not leak past
Good video, stop the music so we can actually hear what you’re sayin
Thank you 🙏🏼 this is Tony G from AZ.
Yes. It helps pull air when at lower speeds.
How are you liking them over time? I'm leaning towards getting these but I've watched so many vids on different companies I dunno anymore what's what lol!! These pop up more than the rest. Seem stable.
They worked fine. Much easier to grab than the stock levers. If they are adjusted in to far the bike wont start in gear. I adjusted them out till the bike started in gear with the clutch pulled in.
@@1jrlord17 Thanks. Yeah that's interesting. Still easier to pull on the clutch? I live in Los Angeles. The capital of traffic lol!
Is it rubber ?
Interesting video, you guys are yanking the cowbells off, when im thinking about installing some on my softail 😆
How did you get those ugly cowbells off?
You need to remove front wheel & pull the fork tubes out of the triple trees. Cowbells are just bolted to the lower trees. Remove them then just put it back together. It’s also a good time to replace the fork seals if needed.
Is that a 21 or 19 in rim? Love the look
Thanks! It’s a 19”
Cant wait to do mine, shit looks way better then the fat Tin POS HD "cow bell' look. Thanks for the video, just wondering does the upper tube slide well thru the dust cover? again ty bro. Its all about making our bike the way we like it.
Yes the dust covers fit 49mm tubes.
Great video
Thanks
I dig it! Will the covers fit on a 07 electra glide classic front?
Which covers are you referring to?
@@1jrlord17 The dust covers.
I did find the correct part # for my bike. Thanks
@@jamesg2343 get dust covers to fit the size of your fork tubes. Mine are 49mm. For instance a Dyna with 49mm tubes fits
@@1jrlord17 Thanks, 41mm for the earlier touring bikes.
Incomplete instructions
Don’t understand what you think is missing. Well if you want to make it much more complicated you can go off the manual which will tell you to pull the whole pump assembly out to change filter that’s ok also. But everything I did is in this video & it took about 30 minutes to complete. Others have used this video to change their filter themselves vs taking it to the shop.
Beautiful ride. I hope to get a street next year. The CVO is very nice too. 👍🏼
Thanks. The touring bikes are great.
Looks a million times better with the raw fork tubes showing. Even better, get some colored fork tubes.
Later when I redu the front suspension I’ll probably get black tubes
What’s the parts numbers for the o-rings and the filter
Don’t have the number. Any dealer will have the info or harleydavidson.com in the OEM parts section will have info
Did you notice a throttle and power difference?
Your not going to notice a power difference unless it’s really clogged but it did seem a little smoother.
Is the same as a 2015 roadglide special? With the cable set up or whatever the difference is?
Would be same for brake side. The clutch side would be a little different If you have a cable vs hydraulic. For cable you would need to adjust for slack then disconnect the cable at the lever. When lever installed you need to reconnect your cable then adjust it.
@@1jrlord17 nice thank you
@@1jrlord17 followed you on Instagram!
@1jrlord17 are yours kinda loose up and down, little bit of play in them? I just installed them
Would the shorty levers been better for you maby?
I now use a set of stock levers that I shortened & powder coated. I’ve been pretty happy with it.
Helpful video, should you purge the system first or did I miss something? Thanks
You can purge but I never do & never had any issues as there is no power being applied to the pump.
Get rid of that back ground music.
good information i just changed mine last month I think a lot of riders neglect this filter
Easy to over look as it’s not visible.
@@1jrlord17 right and to be honest I only changed mine because someone suggested it
Nice brotha 🙏🏼 subbed to ya. 🤙🏼
Thanks
@@1jrlord17 🙏🏼 welcome 🤙🏼
I have a 19 limited. When I put gas in it the thing has a high pitch whine for like 75 miles then it goes away. It's the pump sound when you first turn the ignition over. Constantly is on and annoying. Internet says fuel pump fixed their problem but it only has 16k on it. Worried the pump is going bad or will feom running like that
Thanks I might need to change mine
thx man !>>>>n.w.Ga. here>>>riding '95 roadking<<<<<
Are you still riding with mids?
Yes. I changed out the linkage with Santoro Fabworx linkage & works fine
Just like I thought it should, thank you for the video sir!! 👊🏽
Thanks for video & tips.. how good you like em so far? Better than prior board setup? Thx
Yes I do like them better. Still need to adjust a little
@@1jrlord17 thx man.. hey did you happen to do a video on here of your cutting/mods to install the cvo rear taillights setup you have? Looks mint 👌
@@62willy1 I didn’t do a video but I think I posted pictures on Instagram when I did it
Great job with this video. Thank you
Thanks for tuning in!
Did the kit come with installation instructions? How long did the install take? Thanks for the vid
Yes it comes with instructions. Install doesn’t take to long. I was just over an hour but I was also taking video
When is the full video coming?
Should be up now.
Damn good video 👍
Thanks
I personally don't like the look. Looks incomplete and not a fan of having that area exposed to the elements. I do like a finished or matching look so much better. Just my. 02.. Not sure why people think removing something completely is the way to go.
And that is perfectly fine.
@@1jrlord17 thanks for the reply.
Not an argument- just a explanation of different tastes- I hate the bulky look and want the mechanical “race “ look. I like it to resemble a works dirt bike or moto gp bike. I put the inverted 52mm ohlins on my dyna mostly for looks. I probably won’t invest that much cash into my street glide.
What's the installation process on the seals look like? Do they just slide down the fork tube and click in to the top of the lowers? Thanks!
Yes. You have to pull the tubes out of the triple trees to take the cow bells off & slide a new dust cover down.
It’s really easy. I just went through it when rebuilding shocks. 4 bolts at the top of the cowbell and viola!
What's done to the engine, please?
Rebuilt from crank up. Darkhorse crank, Carrillo rods, S&S 590 cam, S&S cam plate & pump, S&S rockers, rocker shafts, studs & head bolts, Screaming Eagle heads w/+1 valves, 64mm throttle body, 6.2 injectors HPi pipe, etc.
This bike sounds so sweet
Beutiful bike, but that exhaust omg. Who makes that?
Exhaust is HPi @horsepowerinc
@1jrlord1 bro that shit looks clean as fuck.
@1jrlord1 BTW, thanks for the info. Much appreciated.
@@GatorTactical_ Thanks
Any videos out there on the entire process of deleting the cowbells? Tia
I’m sure there are. I don’t have one but you basically pull front wheel off then slid fork tubes out of triple trees then un bolt cowbells & reassemble. Look for videos on rebuilding the front suspension. It’s the same process except you don’t need to disassemble the tubes. But it’s a good time for a rebuild of new bushings & seals or an upgrade while your that far.
Jeez that’s a lot of work
Can't you just put small posters over it.
What do you mean by small posters?
💯👍
Great idea ! I just came across your channel in my feed actually. I'm happy to support you and other fellow content creators. I look forward to seeing and hearing more from your channel in the future. Keep up the great work and ride safe, out there ...

@@1jrlord17 @1jrlord17 👍
How did you take them off ?
You need to pull the fork tubes out of the triple trees. The cowbells are bolted to the lower triple tree.
