Coe Hall is a stunning piece of architecture, very elegant!!! It's nice to know that it still stands today for people to admire!!! 👍👍🙂

Despite its size and the amount of furnishings and decorations, this is clearly a home rather than a mere showplace.
Amazing dining room, though I'd feel a little out of place eating ramen every night of the week. Hold on! I wouldn't be eating ramen as I've just inherited a billion dollars - I can finally afford Marie Callender's pot pies, with an upgrade to the all-white-meat version...
In the Fall of 1960, I started attending classes in Coe Hall as Planting Fields was being used as a temporary campus for SUNY Stony Brook while the permanent campus was under construction. Needless to say, I remember little about it but I do remember the stables that had been converted into dormitories.
Mr Coe impresses me most in terms of his philanthropy. Nice House but impressive good deeds ❤
Such an exquisite and running home. At 67 rooms a stunning mansion. Just love the expansive gardens !! So lovely I really love both fora and fauna. The fragrant scent and colorful beauty of coral gardens . Mai’s bedroom was lovely and the room with the bright yellow color was bright and cheery. I like bright cheery rooms with large windows for natural light. I’m happy this home did not meet the wrecking ball. Also the beautiful gardens and grounds are preserved. Thanks Ken for yet anther fine “This House” always love the beautiful homes you present and the always excellent history of the home and its occupants.😊❤️💯🇨🇦🇨🇦👌

So he acquired well, true but did well considering charitable directions to donate to and made wise decisions,from a humble start,he got the right available bits,but as in marriage the saying goes to marry well,or wealthy. But he wasn’t selfish. Great story!👏👏😁
Planting Fields was an elementary school field trip for us when I was growing up on LI. Years later, I discovered that F.L. Olmsted's sons had laid out my childhood neighborhood.

Another wonderful video Ken! As a New York City resident I have long known about planting fields arboretum, but have unfortunately never been there. It’s great to see the wonderful house and garden in your video!
I have been there once many years ago amazing place. Around the corner is Teddy Roosevelts home.
When my family lived in Garden City back in the early 70’s we would go to Roosevelt’s home once a year. Wish we’d also gone to this place. We’d go to Westbury Gardens for picnics, too.
Thank you so much for this. I grew up on Long Island and I have a very vivid childhood memory of visiting this house with my late father. I never knew what it was called, but I recognized it as soon as I saw the portico!
Ken, I think I like this house best of all the ones you've shown in your videos. Coe Hall is beautiful and grand yet looks so comfortable and pleasant, a place one could call home. I'd say the bedrooms are the spaces I like the most. I could happily spend many hours in those spaces.

I live close to this house and visit it often. On the weekends there are always couples there taking their wedding pictures. Its so beautiful. One of my favorite places to unwind
A surprising number of former homes of the ultra-rich are now open to the public for touring. I guess that's better than keeping them as private residences. I wonder if this tradition will continue.
I liked the house except for the bedrooms. The rest of the house looks Craftsman-Tudor. Not a bad combination.
This home is an exquisite work of art, but we can also see who benefits from insurance--nt the buyers but the sellers
I've been to Coe Hall. For me, the hidden gem is the cacti collection in the green house
So glad to hear about the survival of the grounds as the Planting Fields Arboretum. A must see when I make it to Oyster Bay. I could pretty much plan my getaways just by watching this channel!
The stone owls were neat. Those busts were unique. I'll have to look up who they were of. This house is a really nice balance of grand but understated in areas. I like how these come out right before the weekend. The rectangle windows with the light pouring in was great and I really liked the shelves the books were on against the wall of the other. Thanks for the videos!
How does one person do so much in one lifetime?! Work, love,stunning homes and gardens, socialising, reading, collecting, giving and travelling.

I went to the Planting Fields many many times in the 70's and 80's. Such a wonderful place to walk around. Was only in the building once. William's bedroom is pretty much the size of my current house! 😀

Lovely house! Coe seems to have been a generous man who used his wealth as all wealthy men should. But modern Trust Fund Babies who have inherited their wealth and never experienced hardship feel no obligation to give back, do they? Despite Coe's tragic losses, he brought good to the world.

ANOTHER DEMOLITION FREE ZONE FOR SURE, BUT I LOVE THAT LINE ABOUT THE EARLIER HOUSE ON THE PROPERTY, "MYSTERIOUSLY BURNED DOWN"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YEAH, RIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AND THIS DAMN GUY WAS IN THE INSURANCE BUSINESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My favorite rooms this mansion is first two and the dining room yes the exterior is also beautiful the staircase and water fountain statues, RICK-NYC USA 🇺🇸
My favorite room is William’s bedroom. I could get seriously cozy there!
This was a hard one ! So many beautiful spaces making it impossible for me to choose and the roses trained over the walkways were standouts .

Years ago there was a tour, I remember that there were two apartments in the house for men to tend the furnaces for heating the green houses. They would work alternate 12-hour shifts.

Hello This House please respond. I have an idea for an episode how about what happened to marland mansion. Trust me the story of E. W. Marland is a riot he’s a clown he made his house as big as an acre (43,561 square feet). The only person I know to have done that. He lost his fortune not once but twice! And is quite scandalous because of the person that he chose to marry. Ken (Kenneth) this will make for a great story with a cup of coffee and popcorn trust me! Quite tragic too from what I heard. I want in depth please, but keep it family friendly I respect that of you thanks.
