    Finally a simple enough video, I snapped a joint recently and made a copy with putty but it was still too delicate, so this should work better

    I honestly think it would be interesting to try and use this method with a two-part silicon mold trying to replicate parts and I mean if you have enough spare runners something like this you could theoretically build an entire Gundam from that so you only have to buy the one copy of it and I also wonder if doing this acetone process would work on pla late? Hmm food for thought because I mean when you're cutting little extra details out of it you're always getting those little bits that either you just throw them away and or push them off to the side and they're just getting wasted same with whenever you're sanding if you have a little collector bucket underneath while you're doing it you could even try with that

    What if you wanna remake a couple of parts for something new? Reason I'm askin is that I'm trying to make a brace for my Wing Gundam Ver. Ka so that it can hold its buster rifle one handed without it drooping. I'm casting the two parts out of non-drying clay and as for the mid section of this brace, I could do the same thing, cast the underside of the buster rifle in the clay or use casting plaster to make the mid section. Would this trick of melting down runners work or is it just a waste of time?

    • @HobbyVolt
      @HobbyVolt  ปีที่แล้ว

      So, I've had some pretty good results with casting small pieces this way. Like foot guards and such. I think it could work well OR I'm a HUGE fan of Green Stuff World resin. I use it for cosplays and Gunpla. Just get the little UV light and pour resin into your mold and hit it with the light. Then paint. If you don't want to do all that, you could certainly use this trick.

      @@HobbyVoltLast night I made my own spruce goo, at first it was a bit runny so I added more runner chips into the jar and it came out like a paste as needed. I'm waiting on the two parts that I molded to cure first, probably won't touch them until saturday or sunday before I pull them out of their molds. After that would be to cast the mid section and fit it together

    Hi! this video is very educational. I might try your method to recycle all the leftover runners (believe me, there are A LOT of them) and try to do something with it.
    Thanks!
    P/S: Is it possible to use the dissolved runners to 'cast' new parts onto a mold? Is it durable enough to be used as backup runners for the gunplas?

    I've had SUPER BAD experiences using acetone on my runners, but it was super cheap, so that may have been an issue.
    Also. Cats. One called Smaug?
    I know it's not Gunpla related... But can we see your cats?
    The notion of repairing cracked parts with obvious preservation of the cracks sounds a little like Plamo Kintsugi.
