    People don’t realize that during the pandemic we kept building hospitals and schools etc to keep America moving. We didn’t see any bonuses we kept it moving.
    Rebar shortages , worker shortages, longer hours and we keep going. Shout out to all the construction workers. Union ironworker here 👍

    I LOVE it! More like this please! Welcome back Mike Rowe and kudos to Fox Business for showing this. Definitely gives me that Dirty Jobs vibe which was one of my favorite shows. Much respect to the hard-working men and women who keep out country going. Although this current administration doesn't care for them and takes them for granted, we need more shows like so more Americans and people around the world can appreciate them.

    • @StandingUpForBetter

      @@matthewdebrino6062 Agreed! Ban fossil fuels but yet plead with our "allies" to produce more oil while at the same time destroying our own jobs and ability to produce oil and be energy independent. If people don't see what is going on with this administration by now, they just don't want to see.

    When you see unsightly cars being hauled off and sent to wrecking yards for recycling this is the end result. This has to be far better than producing steel from raw products. Recycling at its best....great video.

    Ive worked in that plant. Ironically to keep the guys cool on the man coolers, pulpit room cool, Torch drive room & Roller drive room cool. I think I would consume about 2 gallons of water/Gatorade in a day. Its one of the hottest/dirtiest places I’ve ever worked. The only thing separating you & that fresh, almost molten billet was a piece of corrugated tin. It was a hell of a place to work. You finish one repair & there would be more repairs already waiting. Stay out of the way of the slag trucks too, hell of a sight seeing the tires on fire as they drove.

    This is perfect and exactly how I envisioned our future. With innovation in the forefront utilizing recycled materials to lead the way into a new mentality. One that is based on renewable resources to retool our thinking about how we build. With all the consumable output finding it's way back to the consumer, how is it possible to lose? The material is out there, we just need to find a way to make it pay, twice.

    How do they maintain the correct (precise) % of carbon? They just smelt tons of assorted unrefined steel fragments. Those fragments also contain Mo, V, Cr and other elements present in steel alloys. How do the certify the new steel?
    Who knows?

    • @DpGumbypgh
      @DpGumbypgh 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They are sorted before to minimise impurities. After melting an exact analysis is taken from samples and if necessary carbon and other things added to change the composition before using the molten steel to make billets.

    Steel is necessary and a fossil fuel consuming material to make. I support research on maximizing fuel efficiency of those factories and minimize emissions as much as possible. Using cleaner sources of energy such as geothermal and new technology nuclear power to have an effect at lowering fossil energy consumption from those places. Fossil energy needs for steel cannot reach zero since some source of carbon is needed to make steel itself. I support the placement of new small business steel making companies who make high quality made in USA product and have much better fuel efficiency and lower emissions than anything China.
