I’m a Portuguese 22 year old. In this very harsh lockdown due to the pandemic, I was going through some stuff in the attic and found my late grandfather’s old record player, along with some vinyls. Found this song in a Mantovani record and somehow I feel connected with my grandfather, who past away in 2000, when I was 2. Music and TH-cam are incredible tools to keep our minds healthy! If you're around my age (76), then you'll remember when FM radio was only "good music"....instrumentals like this by all the best symphony orchestras that spread it's peace and beauty to all who listened. Do you remember the "Hartz Mountain" canaries who, at times, would warble along with these beautiful songs? Talk about spirit lifting! Pope Benedict XVI said "Music (and science) are God's greatest gift to man" and Montovani's music is the perfect embodiment of what he was talking about.
Well I'm a mere 55 but I think you've captured the sentiment perfectly my friend. I remember my grandparents who have long since left us, listening to this on their 'stereo' which in the late 60's was a fairly upmarket thing to have where I come from. A more uplifting tune you would be hard pressed to find....happy days
Beautiful music. I was lucky to have seen Mantovani and his Orchestra in concert at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Michigan in 1970. How lucky was I?! I'll never forget it. There is nothing phony about this music. That orchestra live sounded just as good live as it did on the records. Beautiful.

We had a "rec room" in the basement that my dad built. Classic 1970's panneling complete with built in book shelves and a bar! My dad would retire to his recliner, turn on the stereo and spend his quiet time with this kind of music. Now I understand.

Recently I discovered another beautiful orchestra, "The Melachrino Strings". TH-cam has some of their music. Last easy listening station in the country (I think) finally succumbed to the modern world about a year ago. It was WAVV, Wave Radio, out of Fort Myers, FL. They weren't playing much Mantovani near the end, but they did play a little. Pandora has a decent Mantovani and easy listening collection, but you have to downvote all the modern piano and guitar crap to get to it.
I never get tired hearing all this good music. Bring me a lot of memories of my younger years. Wish will be a radio station that plays again all the music of those days. Pay respect to all musicians and orchestras.

My Nana (Grandma) used to have a jewelry box with a ballet dancer that sprang up when you opened the lid. As it opened, a music box would gracefully play "Some Enchanted Evening". I was 4-5 years old back then. This song has stuck inside my head ever since and it wasn't that long ago since I found it again - and keep coming back to it. I'm now 41 (at the end of 2013) and I sill cannot forget how special this song feels to me. As I weep listening to this masterpiece here, it takes me to a very special childhood place; reminding me of a love that I will never forget. Even the smell and visual recollection of the room where I first heard this song, still exits. I wish Nana was alive today so I could ask her...... where did you get that music box from and what did it mean to you?
Well I am so so glad you love this piece of music from Rodges and Hamersteins South Pacific. It was my aunt Madeleines favourite piece and when i play it reminds me of her a wonderful lady.

I’m a Portuguese 22 year old. In this very harsh lockdown due to the pandemic, I was going through some stuff in the attic and found my late grandfather’s old record player, along with some vinyls. Found this song in a Mantovani record and somehow I feel connected with my grandfather, who past away in 2000, when I was 2.

If you're around my age (76), then you'll remember when FM radio was only "good music"....instrumentals like this by all the best symphony orchestras that spread it's peace and beauty to all who listened. Do you remember the "Hartz Mountain" canaries who, at times, would warble along with these beautiful songs? Talk about spirit lifting! Pope Benedict XVI said "Music (and science) are God's greatest gift to man" and Montovani's music is the perfect embodiment of what he was talking about.
Well I'm a mere 55 but I think you've captured the sentiment perfectly my friend. I remember my grandparents who have long since left us, listening to this on their 'stereo' which in the late 60's was a fairly upmarket thing to have where I come from. A more uplifting tune you would be hard pressed to find....happy days

Beautiful music. I was lucky to have seen Mantovani and his Orchestra in concert at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Michigan in 1970. How lucky was I?! I'll never forget it. There is nothing phony about this music. That orchestra live sounded just as good live as it did on the records. Beautiful.

We had a "rec room" in the basement that my dad built. Classic 1970's panneling complete with built in book shelves and a bar! My dad would retire to his recliner, turn on the stereo and spend his quiet time with this kind of music. Now I understand.

Our souls need the mysterious, healing power of beautiful soothing music. It dissolves our problems and transports us to an inner world of harmony and serenity . . . an oasis of tranquility. Our mood is elevated to where it should be, happiness appears and our physical health improves. Yes, what our world needs is the beautiful, healing music from an earlier era.

Recently I discovered another beautiful orchestra, "The Melachrino Strings". TH-cam has some of their music. It doesn't use the "cascading strings effect" which Mantovani used with great success, but it is nevertheless beautiful and very soothing for the human spirit.

i would love to take over a radio station for a day and play all this music.:)
Last easy listening station in the country (I think) finally succumbed to the modern world about a year ago. It was WAVV, Wave Radio, out of Fort Myers, FL. They weren't playing much Mantovani near the end, but they did play a little. Pandora has a decent Mantovani and easy listening collection, but you have to downvote all the modern piano and guitar crap to get to it.
I never get tired hearing all this good music. Bring me a lot of memories of my younger years. Wish will be a radio station that plays again all the music of those days. Pay respect to all musicians and orchestras.

My Nana (Grandma) used to have a jewelry box with a ballet dancer that sprang up when you opened the lid. As it opened, a music box would gracefully play "Some Enchanted Evening". I was 4-5 years old back then. This song has stuck inside my head ever since and it wasn't that long ago since I found it again - and keep coming back to it. I'm now 41 (at the end of 2013) and I sill cannot forget how special this song feels to me. As I weep listening to this masterpiece here, it takes me to a very special childhood place; reminding me of a love that I will never forget. Even the smell and visual recollection of the room where I first heard this song, still exits. I wish Nana was alive today so I could ask her...... where did you get that music box from and what did it mean to you?

Well I am so so glad you love this piece of music from Rodges and Hamersteins South Pacific. It was my aunt Madeleines favourite piece and when i play it reminds me of her a wonderful lady.
