i’ve been saying this for a year. he does want the HC job tho, and if there is any whiff of success, he would probably be out at the first chance for a HC job.
Saleh is going back to San Fran if he doesn’t get a HC job. If Ben Johnson is the next HC Lou Anarumo and Johnson have a connection. They worked together in Miami. So he’ll probably be the top DC choice. I like Dennis Allen as a DC due to him being a HC before. To me that’s paramount. If he’s the DC pick Johnson should name him assistant HC. Getting any of these 3 is a win for the Bears.

I would not mind Ron Rivera. A former Superbowl head coach, worked with a young Cam Newton, a Chicago Bear, he is older and knows how to deal with players. He was also a good DC in San Diego.
Ron Rivera...he would be like Wade Philips when he was the DC for Gary Kubiak in Denver's SB winning team in 2015, and Buddy Ryan for Ditka in the Bears SB winning team. Old, steady and wise.

Good idea for a video Harrison. I've been thinking about this very thing if they go offensive HC. Thats a great list - Saleh is tops for me but he's going to the Niners without question.
Over the last few days, I’ve started to really like the idea of David Shaw being the OC for either Mike Vrabel or Brian Flores. Shaw’s been a head coach for years, and was Jim Harbaugh’s OC at Stanford and coached Andrew Luck.
Is it bad I want Kliff Kingsbury? Has proven he can develop rookie QBs (Kyler and Jayden), has history with Caleb, Offensive minded, and has been a head coach before.
Yes because he hasn’t proven he can run a full team… he has sucked at coaching teams on the college and nfl level… great OC but head coach there are concerns
@ his record in Arizona went from 5-10-1 > 8-8 > 11-6.. then his final year they were 4-6 and kyler went out for the year. I felt like it wasnt a massive coaching failure tbh. More so a lack of talent and kyler being a diva. No real defense for his college track record though lol
@MarcusHayden - No, it is actually a wise choice. Most Bears' fans didn't spend time watching Cardinals games over the past 7 seasons. His success in Washington proves what many Cardinals' fans have felt for years. Kyler Murray has limitations in his game. The Cardinals also have not had solid WR's for years. Marvin Harrison, Jr. only caught 53% of his passes this season. Kyler gets some of the blame for that. Kliff Kingsbury would be an upgrade. Joe Brady would be an upgrade. Ben Johnson would be an upgrade. Todd Monken would be an upgrade. Mike McCarthy would be an upgrade.

I know this sounds crazy, but what if in the event Aaron Glenn does not get a head coaching job and returns the Lions. Would it be possible he’d be interested in the Bears DC gig, if Ben Johnson is hired as the Bears Head coach? because there is familiarity between them? Former player, high energy in the locker room, checks some boxes. Def dont think Glenn is the right fit for Chicago as HC, not that he isn’t capable. And tbh I do believe the Saints will be interested in hiring him as Head Coach anyways.
I'm not all in on Ben Johnson like you are now cause Ben has a good offense they've ave a really good o-line 2 good RB and great WR think about that offense he has
Bring in Pete Carroll and let him start building his staff to get a jump start on all the other teams. Otherwise, you risk getting the offense correct, but the defense will suffer.
I think i realized today i really like the idea of Pete coming to Chicago. Maybe he got stale in Seattle but that team was always competitive and maybe he just needed a fresh start as much as the Bears do.
Hopefully, the Bears new defensive coordinator won't have illicit sexual relationships with female staff, resulting in an FBI investigation and sabotaging of the new head coach.
Not trying to be a contrarian, but why exactly is Ben Johnson such a hot name? I ask because at the end of the day, what Ben is is a REALLY good offensive coordinator, and is that it? We just assume, 'Good Coordinator = good head coach'.
So who are you going to hire? Just FYI, all of the other coaches in the division were 1st time offensive minded coaches. Both Matt and KOC were hotshot OCs, and DC was a TE coach.
@jayclean5653 And Hackett and McDaniel were too. I'm not saying Ben would be a bad head coach, but just curious what's up with this particular OC getting so much glazing. But then again, this is the same team that drafted the "Generational Talent" so maybe some teams and their fanbases are more suseptible to overhype.
@@Tommy9834 Because his ceiling is high. Yeah there's definitely risk as we don't know how he will control the locker room, but I'd rather we take a swing and possibly end up with a McVay or Shanahan. We could indeed flame out with him. It's a risk/reward situation.
@jaybutterbaugh757 I'm not saying anything you're saying is wrong or won't happen. My question is, how have we come to the conclusion that his ceiling is high. Because at the end of the day, what Ben Johnson is, is a great OC. So does being a great OC of a good team equate to having a high ceiling as a potential head coach?
Robert Saleh is a great defensive coordinator but I think he is going back to the 49ers. Plus I don’t think he wants to face his friend Matt LaFruer two time a year.
Why dont they just go with eberflus? Tell me why wouldn't you ho that way 2023 rank 12 and 2024 rank 13 most of the year top 10 . Had the best red zone defense too
@MelodyChiapetta - Shane Waldron did not have full autonomy to call his game. Before the season, Matt Eberflus said that it would be a collaborative process and he also stated that he also knows how to coach the offense not just the defense. During games, Matt Eberflus had his face covered by the playbook on offense. Why would he have his face covered by the playbook unless he had influence on the plays? Shane Waldron was never given his chance to fully call plays from the booth. He normally called 60% to 65% passes over runs. That distribution worked against the Colts but he was admonished for it by the media and fanbase. Caleb Williams had two interceptions and a lost fumble in that game. Not the fault of Shane Waldron. He alsl threw for over 350 yards.
Let it be known that I vehemently did not. I hated that Waldron hire from the beginning and was constantly shouting for Kingsbury to anyone who would listen.

How do you feel about bringing back Ron Rivera as Defensive Coordinator?
i’ve been saying this for a year. he does want the HC job tho, and if there is any whiff of success, he would probably be out at the first chance for a HC job.
Saleh

Steve Wilks is the best DC candidate available.
Dennis Allen is another good choice.
Robert Saleh is most likely not available.

Was about to post the same DC, he’s proven to get that defense working!
Hell yeah don't know why his name hadn't been brought up yet plus he's run different styles of defense
Ron Rivera...he would be like Wade Philips when he was the DC for Gary Kubiak in Denver's SB winning team in 2015, and Buddy Ryan for Ditka in the Bears SB winning team. Old, steady and wise.

Is that even a position Shaw would take since he’s being considered for several NFL HC spots?
@@Droski_Rodriguez19 I think he'd take it if he doesn't get an HC gig. If he's successful for 2 years with Williams, he will absolutely get a HC gig
Riverboat Ron or Singletary for DC or fangio
💯
Fangio is in philly
For Johnson, Anarumo makes sense since the two are familiar with each other, both were on the Dolphins staff as assistants under Joe Philbin.
Is it bad I want Kliff Kingsbury? Has proven he can develop rookie QBs (Kyler and Jayden), has history with Caleb, Offensive minded, and has been a head coach before.

NOT SURE YET

Anarumo!
I did see a report where apparently Johnson does not interview well which leads to the question can he lead a team.
2 different skill sets. My guess is Eberflus and Trestman interviewed well. As did Waldron apparently.
If the Bears hire Ben Johnson, who should be the DC?
RS
RS or DA
RS
Rs with Ben Johnson would be the dream
Why not try to see what you can do for Aaron Glenn if you get BJ
