Nice to see you get a bottle of Ralph Lauren Purple Label. I agree with the similarities to Bleecker Street. Also, I find it quite similar to Ralph Lauren Silver as well. So the fragrance might come across as redundant if you own the other two, but since I don't own Bleecker or Silver, I'm glad to own Purple Label and consider it to be a top shelf fragrance in my collection.

However, after puting my nose on more fragrances this year, I realised that I do not appreciate the same thing as you do in fragrances. What a great video! So great seeing you post videos again. A fragrance I saved up to buy this year was Black Tie by Celine. It was difficult for me to get and I had been saving up for a long time. I'm excited to use it.

Brilliant video Marc. Loved the stories. I blind bought Arso this Xmas, I had to as you can no longer buy Profumum in the UK due to Brexit. Getting back to Arso, what a fragrance! So glad I finally have it in my collection!
The gods of perfumes... beautifully put. This year I've purchased : TFTL, TFOW, TFOL, TFNPA, TFNPF (just before it was discontinued), TFGV, Initio Addictive Vibrations, Thameen Carved Oud, Byredo Accord Oud (+BdA decant), PdM Godilphin, Casamorati 1888... and Bleu Chanel Parfum for my boys (I sometimes spray some of it for fun). I also got decants/used testers of a few other frags this year. These gods were good to me as well. This year is looking good so far ;)
Ralph Lauren Purple Label I picked up from the Ralph Lauren website last year. I heard it pops up there with some regularity. I have YSL Cuir and Yinyle, too. Good pickups there! Cuir is great and I’d do a backup bottle.

Great vid! The one personal unicorn I got was VC&A Tsar. The only bottle available to me was a 7ml, and I needed it mainly to re-live a memory involving my grandmother (it was the only thing I once wore that she praised). So happy to at least have the mini for the purpose!

This year I picked up YSL Noble Leather. I had been chasing this down for years, trying to get it at a decent price.
I finally managed to get a few of my own unicorn fragrances this year. Two standouts are an early 125ml splash of Chanel's Egoiste, and a full 100ml splash 'Eagle' bottle of Derby, by Guerlain (which I happen to be wearing as I type this). Honestly, I couldn't be happier with these and plan on savoring them for the rest of my life! I regret not getting Ciel de Gum when I had the chance just before it was discontinued. 😧
Totally get it, I had the opportunity of buying Ciel de Gum and Absolute pour le Soir several times and I miss it, intstead I bought Oud Satin Mood an BR540 Extrait 🤦♂🤷♂ Never thought that they are about to be discontinued, there are 2 Ciel de Gum right now on eBay one for $995 and the other for $800, I love the fragrance but I'll never pay that much, I have 3 samples of it from MFK guess that's all I get. I have Fidelis and Ambrarem need to buy Petroleum. Vinyl I got lucky and bought it this year. The other that I'm looking for is Tobacco Oud Intense, love that scent! Thanks for the list Marc!!!
For me, my unicorns are my first formula Gucci Envy for Men, VC&A Midnight In Paris EDP, YSL Jazz Prestige and YSL Pour Homme Haute Concentree. The way you describe keywords at about 35:40, is exactly the way I feel, I'm also always on the lookout for fragrances that people describe in similar ways. Those frags that people say are "medicinal" or "smells like a urinal cake soaked in piss" or "pissy leather", I don't think there's any way to make me want to buy a fragrance faster than when I see people complaining about how challenging it is, because often times those challenging fragrances have been the ones that I end up cherishing the most.
my top 5 I got this year are as follows: Bond No 9 Andy Warhol Face Bottle Ciel de Gum Absolue Pour le Soir Tom Ford Tobacco Oud Intense Vintage Oud Wood (Gold Label)

From 2002 (my original bottle is from around this time). I've been looking on and off for years, so I'm thrilled. The price with shipping wasn't cheap, but I may never see one of these ever again.
MFKLN is so great, magnificent manly rose bought mine in Hong Kong in 2011. Only have 10 ml left. Going to buy a Palermo fragrance Clone to help try stretch it out. 😬

As for unicorns, I didn't buy it recently but really enjoying LIDGE this winter. However, a fragrance I really enjoyed in 2022 is Patchouli Antique by Les Néréides... bit of a surprise actually, I got it for a bargain, wasn't expecting much of it... but it had good reviews and I wanted to discover some patchouli-centric scents.
As a long time vintage collector I really enjoyed this 👍 however I'm not sure some (most) of those mediocre / still in production fragrances deserve the 'Unicorn' title, if they do then what are.... patou prive, patou lasso, caron tabac blonde, creed green valley, creed cuir de russie, creed vintage taberome, guerlain cuir de russie, djedi, metalica, apres londe, vega, vintage diaghilev edp, nombre noire, chanel no46, cuir de russie cologne, marquay dali rock n roll, houbigant royale, coty chypre, corday l'heure, d'osay ambre and the likes 🤔 God Tier!
unicorn is dependant on the person. One fragrance that only available in the middle east that someone wants in North America would be a unicorn if they've been trying to get it for years, while the person in the middle east that it's readily available would not classify it as such.
What’s up with Enchanted forest? I’ve been wanting a bottle of that forever now. I really don’t get the Europe/America divide when it comes to perfume. Luckyscent still carries the brand (Bass Solo, yeah ok.. who cares) but they really can’t deliver what people actually want?
@robes08 way too expensive. The ones I've found are 500 or 600 dollars. Sorry. And they're all on ebay. That is a headache in itself trying to communicate to the seller to see if the bottle is fake or a bottle that was expired or left out in the sun too long.
This year I bought: CH Men Prive 2015 Batch / Dior Fahrenheit le Parfum 2014 batch (tester) / Terre Hermès EDT 2006 Batch / Roadster Cartier 2008 batch / Polo explorer 2007 batch…. And for me, the best: JPG Fleur du male tester 2007 batch -- ATOMIC--
I like the internal budget method, so many of these discontinued fragrances just aren’t worth what scalpers are charging for them, simply cause they’re not at retail anymore. LIDGE is a $60 fragrance through and through, but mfers want $250 😂😂 I remember buying it at discounters for $40, so they can kick rocks.
you have to have an internal budget, also I don't mind half used bottles to meet my budget. It makes the journey take a little longer for each one but at the end of the day I'm not kicking myself for the price I bought it for.
My only unicorns are original ysl la nuit del home jeux de peau by segre lutens and now I guess amen pure havane and malt and lolita lempicka au masculine the tree trunk blue bottle that's all I can think off the top of my head ATM nothing to crazy or hard to get

Bidding wars on eBay can provide you with great perfumes for next-to-nothing. I've won auctions mainly because I was the only one who bid. I use Mecari also. Missed out on Versace's Versus though. Great price, box and bottle, and nearly full. sometimes we do dumb things like wait too long. I have in the past scored some great deals on eBay. I would use a cross-search from seller to seller. I would bounce when I found a seller who offered great prices and look through their items. A percentage doesn't update, so I would find one that had been just sitting there and offer them a price. I also would buy three from them at a time and see about a discount. No one ever said no. I would bookmark the sellers and continue cross-searching. Yes, that does take some time and effort, but that's half the fun. Who doesn't like lost treasure ventures? That said though, Google/Chrome has made it difficult with their updates. I can't just go and do fast cross-searches, and the whole page just loads and loads. I also do what JJ does, I can't spell his last youtube name, but he puts in different spellings, etc What I have been picking up are vintage women's perfumes. Marc, search for a Krizia Teatro alla Scalla. Krizia's perfume seems to hold its scents extremely well with age. I think I have an 18ml of Fumidis. I know I have a few 18mls from them. I have their Patchouli and Ambre Ambra Aurea. I do want to get their Acqua di Sale and Acqua Noblis. You're right though, not too much of a discount on them. Osswald's carries them and does offer sales. I have a decant of Eua Noire. I got it from Oswald, Mr Oz. He was doing a giveaway. He sent me I think 8 5mls from the Prive blend. I like it. Still have a little left. Urban Musk. Sounds interesting. Will try and snag one. Happy for your Unicorn finds.

As a long time vintage collector I really enjoyed this 👍 however I'm not sure some (most) of those mediocre / still in production fragrances deserve the 'Unicorn' title, if they do then what are.... patou prive, patou lasso, caron tabac blonde, creed green valley, creed cuir de russie, creed vintage taberome, guerlain cuir de russie, djedi, metalica, apres londe, vega, vintage diaghilev edp, nombre noire, chanel no46, cuir de russie cologne, marquay dali rock n roll, houbigant royale, coty chypre, corday l'heure, d'osay ambre and the likes 🤔 God Tier!
unicorn is dependant on the person. One fragrance that only available in the middle east that someone wants in North America would be a unicorn if they've been trying to get it for years, while the person in the middle east that it's readily available would not classify it as such.

What’s up with Enchanted forest? I’ve been wanting a bottle of that forever now. I really don’t get the Europe/America divide when it comes to perfume. Luckyscent still carries the brand (Bass Solo, yeah ok.. who cares) but they really can’t deliver what people actually want?

One of my unicorns is TF Italian cypress. I had a couple decants of it for cheap several years ago but now I can't find anyone who decants it.

@robes08 way too expensive. The ones I've found are 500 or 600 dollars. Sorry. And they're all on ebay. That is a headache in itself trying to communicate to the seller to see if the bottle is fake or a bottle that was expired or left out in the sun too long.

I like the internal budget method, so many of these discontinued fragrances just aren’t worth what scalpers are charging for them, simply cause they’re not at retail anymore. LIDGE is a $60 fragrance through and through, but mfers want $250 😂😂
I remember buying it at discounters for $40, so they can kick rocks.
you have to have an internal budget, also I don't mind half used bottles to meet my budget. It makes the journey take a little longer for each one but at the end of the day I'm not kicking myself for the price I bought it for.

I've won auctions mainly because I was the only one who bid.
I use Mecari also. Missed out on Versace's Versus though.
Great price, box and bottle, and nearly full. sometimes we do dumb things like wait too long.
I have in the past scored some great deals on eBay.
I would use a cross-search from seller to seller.
I would bounce when I found a seller who offered great prices and look through their items.
A percentage doesn't update, so I would find one that had been just sitting there and offer them a price.
I also would buy three from them at a time and see about a discount. No one ever said no.
I would bookmark the sellers and continue cross-searching.
Yes, that does take some time and effort, but that's half the fun.

What I have been picking up are vintage women's perfumes.
Marc, search for a Krizia Teatro alla Scalla. Krizia's perfume seems to hold its scents extremely well with age.
I think I have an 18ml of Fumidis. I know I have a few 18mls from them.
I have their Patchouli and Ambre Ambra Aurea. I do want to get their Acqua di Sale and Acqua Noblis.
You're right though, not too much of a discount on them. Osswald's carries them and does offer sales.
I have a decant of Eua Noire. I got it from Oswald, Mr Oz. He was doing a giveaway.
He sent me I think 8 5mls from the Prive blend. I like it. Still have a little left.
