I am a MASTER YI GOD that plays primarily in the Korea server and other regions like Vietnam and Philippines. I've been high rank basically since I started the game back in 2009 and am here to teach you what I know.

Another interesting build I didn't mention - BOTRK - Hexplate - Guinsoos - Terminus, been having fun with this build in Korea server high elo
Let me know if you guys have any questions and I'll answer them for you! I played around 40 games on the PBE to get a feel for Master Yi.
Hexplate? Situational and maybe ok
Terminus? I don't like it - too slow - but maybe it'll see some use.
Rest of stuff? Watch and see.
Also I don't think Kraken works on Alphastrike even though it is on-hit, you can see in my gameplay. Maybe I should ask Riot about it...

On-Hit on kraken reverted? I don't see it on PBE
I liked the change of removing the mythicals, now I can do this critical build and this other one is great because the Kraken will be better in Yi, I'm really looking forward to playing the new season. Let's do pentakills!
You said what you think the best runes are for most yi's and what you think is best for you but didn't explain why. I would like to know what difference in your playstyle do you think benefits from the inspiration runes. And in your newer stream I don't catch you going for both botrk guinsos and kraken together all that much, is that something you still recommend, really enjoying both the streams and videos like these keep it up :).

You would never believe that after playing league for almost 10 years, only now have I been learning how to play Master Yi. Can you fukin believe i never really knew how to play this "basic" (or so i thought) champ effectively?

Thanks for the concise guide!
I get you must mean that you're not used to it, but 160 ping is totally fine for QSSing lol, especially in that game with visible, foreseeable, and long CC - even reacting to some cast animations. All my 5 years in Korea I was playing on NA with 165. I know a high elo player like you can feel the difference to highly specific levels and it must be a small challenge to just accept it when you're forced to play on it, but it's still perfectly fine. I guess those of us on such ping play with a tiny bit of prediction we barely even notice, and so I can QSS obvious CC to (or almost) to the level of those pro-level-no-noticeable-stun often enough. It was my own skill and mistakes holding me back in ranked, not my ping lol. I felt 0 frustration on 160-ish ping, even though the ping I was used to when actually in NA was probably 60-90.
190ping starts pushing it though, and I'd avoid ranked. 210+ is where I'd start using the word unplayable, only good for casual norms, maybe with friends so you don't tick off randoms. I'm getting like 235 in VN when on NA, so I won't be playing my NA account lol.
I still cancel AAs a lot because of that prediction habit!
i dont even wanna mess wiht a quicksilver on high ping fam lol its possible but not fun or reliable for me. playing on 3 ms is just 101094190341903x different

you didnt mention how good is Sterak at this moment, it gives you now more tenacity, i belive it would be really good item against high AD and CC teamcomps

the item appears to give 0 tenacity in the tooltip atm
ive been trying the new lethality item feels good
i didn't like em ,but I'd combine them with crit

Hey cowsep, instead of using treasure hunter we could use ultimate hunter instead. This will help with having our highlander up earlier
I assume you can stack Terminus with Alpha Strike?
uhhhh I didn't try that, terminus stacks don't seem to appear in the buff bar or I didn't check...
What about Ghost + Csmic insight = speed + lots of use per game. ik that is super useful plus moving through units n highlander
dunno it just seems weird to abandon flash since its just the most broken and balanced around summoner spell
tried ur build from blitz i got 7 wins in a row pretty balanced
Kraken - Guinsoo is soo good shreds champs so fast I dont even buy Botrk now except if they have tanks idk why but Botrk feels really weak.

I see the first items you usually buy are Blade of the Ruined King and Kraken Slayer. How to decide which item to buy first ?
botrk is probably the safest buy
I always get tripped up with how to amke sure you position where you come out of Q on master yi. Do you just have to spam left click and hope you pressed it while the Q is ending?
uh honestly I just do it out of muscle memory I guess u aim and click once
I saw thta hullbreaker is a on hit item now, i wonder why its not played on yi yet 🤔
why do you keep saying that if you build hexplate you "give up" guinsoos, kraken or navoris for it? cant you just do this build: bork, guinsoos, kraken, navoris, hexplate? i feel like that would be the best build in a situation where guardian angel doesnt provide much value and as you said terminus doesnt work well becuase its hard to stack. is this not the optimal build?
cuz if you build the hextech you don't have a guinsoos while you have the hextech.
You can of course grab it later but you miss out on guinsoos in the meantime.
I been running hextech as a 2nd item and tbh it isn't that bad and giving up guinsoos wasn't as bad as it was on PBe (I got lower ping now)
@@Cowsep i understand that, thanks for the reply btw, but why wouldnt you just buy it as 4th or 5th item then, after you have the core of bork kraken guinsoos completed? that way youre not giving anything up
