I have big oak trees in my yard and I would make a few passes without the bags on, doing a first shred, with leaves blowing out the back in a wind row. When fine enough I'd put the bags on and start sucking the shredded leaves up. The bags held much more and was VERY heavy when full. A Country Boy Can Survive 🤠.
my LX255 John Deere has a bagger i use to use it like you said it fill up quick - i quit using it, i mow the leaves at 3'' wind row them then at 1-1/2'' i grind them into the size of corn flakes or less - this eliminates piles of leaves been doing this for years
Great idea Taryl. I started mulching several years ago and ended my leave problems all together. I have a 2024 Exmark Radius S series, but I also have my trusty old 2007 Cub Cadet GT 2550, which has a mulch plug and gator blades and two passes with that machine and the leaves are obliterated into tiny particles. I was thinking about selling the Cub Cadet, but when I checked the price of the mulch kit for the Exmark I decided to just keep the 500-hour GT 2550 for leave mulching in the fall. Always best to mulch the leaves when dry for best results. Tomorrow here in southeastern Mi it is going to be sunny, and temps in the upper 50's. Should be the last mulch of the season. It will also be a good day to give the machine a good sudsy power wash, deck and all, and afterwards lubricate everything before covering it up for the winter season. I use non ethanol fuel in all my OPE and don't have to worry about carburetor problems while in storage. Been doing that for about 5 years with great results. Nothing more frustrating than having carburetor problems when it comes time to use the equipment. Been watching your videos for quite a few years now and always look forward to Sunday's new video. I have learned plenty sense coming across your entertaining and very informative videos. Thanks for all you do for us Grass Rats.
I too went creative and mounted a custom adapter for a large diam. flex hose on the side-discharge of my ride-on. Then the flex hose goed UNDERNEATh a trailer I build and opens up onto a large hole the size of my large pushmower. On top of the hole is naturally my pushmower, helping to suck and chip the leaves and fills up the back of the trailer. Works neat, but the leaves need to be dry!
Very nice. I did a similar method with a tarp attached to the side chute. A few zip ties to gather it into a long roll. It's my big leaf burrito thingy. I like yours a lot and the mower too.
Especially if you put a block on your deck and use mulching blades . That's how I do it with my 60 inch Dixie Chopper . I made my own deck block with two door hinges so I can lift it up if I want . I hold it down with a piece of angle iron which I hold the angle iron down with two bolts and two wing nuts .
I'll have to make a video of how I do it with a giant tarp. I would fill that one up in one ot two passes on my property. It has to be mulched first also or my leaf pile will take up half my back yard. A high lift mulching blade also helps.
Cool trick Here’s an idea/ mod for you. Make a hoop out of emt pipe , attach it to the frame, hang the cover from it. You could add a piece of chicken wire over the top of the hoop to let air blow out but keep leaves in. With the cover hanging from the hoop, you will be able to back up as needed. There’s your lunch😊
For all of you who insist on using a square tarp, use it as a protection for the bag. When the tarp develops holes from dragging it around, replace it. Much cheaper than a new bag.
Perhaps purchase even more tarp clips and a generic tarp from HF. Use the extra clips to form a bag of the tarp. Cheap tarp to wear out dragging on one’s lawn.
When you talk about. baggers, she ran for president and lost. I bit more serious, if you actually would take your mower and mow all of that backwards obviously with no bag on the back that will mulch the leaves up about 5 to 1:00. Then go back with the bagger on and you'll suck up five times the volume because it's five times smaller than what you had. I learned that kind of by accident one time pulling a small mower backwards that my piles were disappearing and I had fewer leaves to then bag and I could go five times longer without dumping the bag. And there's my dinner.

I was going to comment this also...mulch them up first and much much more fits into the bags.
Here too. I also have giant Sycamore leafs mixed in with my white and red oak jungle.
Another great video Taryl! Head over here for behind the scenes outtakes and your favorite old skits remastered in 4K!
Yes great video! Great skits!
Good morning everyone 😊 now that's a good hack 👍

Good morning from Ontario, Canada!
Good morning. Fellow Ontarian.

Could this be considered a “Lawnmower mysteries and oddities “ episode. I love that series
Pretty good hack ! Nice job of keeping the polo grounds clean at the Dactyl Estate . Thank you for your channel .
I bet the folks at DR aren't too happy. Great hack Taryl! Making Castle Dactyl magnificent!

A heck of an idea Taryl!
It's a good hack but owning a trac vac or agri-fab unit can't be beat..The single best investment I've made concerning lawn care in the fall
You better check yourself for ticks!! 😂

I have 4 sons that take care of them pesky leaves and snow removal.
Now that there is your dinner!
Oh boy, I like this hack... have the kids do it works for me.
Looks good!
Another public service tip from Taryl. The guy is a giver.
I found out, if you run the leaves over enough they just disappear. And the Scrub Cadet has a cup holder, so...

I put a piece of metal over the grass exhaust and just mulch away, plus it's good fertilizer for the lawn.
Seems to work great Taryl. Maybe needs a wear sheet as a skid for it to sit on to stop it wearing through the bottom of the tarp.
Morning gang
Jiffy Pop, the hillbilly fire alarm. I have several hanging on the walls throughout my trailer.
I like that! 👌
Genius!!!

NICE VIDEO.
I just rake my leaves. Makes me hungry for dinner.
Thanks!
@@bonniewight911 thanks! 🙏
i just put the mulching block-off plate on my deck and grind them away lol
gR8 work
I don't bag leaves. I just grind them up.
Nice
sometimes I use a residential grass sweeper to pick up the leaves
I mulch the leaves and let them be. Natural fertilizer.
Mint
I just mulch. Free nutrients to the ground.
I use a lawn sweeper on my zero turn. I put a hitch on the side of the zero turn to collect the clippings. Been using it for 7 years.
Next time, could you ALSO clean a carb or fix an electrical problem or tear down a motor. Even replacing a belt or two would be good.
Great idea, for a moment I thought your tractor needed a diaper change.
@@TheTomar33 🤣
Great idea, Empty the bag sooner. Thats a lot of weight in the bag.
Leave it to Taryl for great ideas.
Great hack tyrl😁 im sure u know catcher bags r for GRASS!! not leaves.

Make a set of bags AND clips available at your online store and mark up the price. 😉
I haven't subscribed to this or the other channel.
I just spent $2,000on a Cyclone Vac Darryl! This vid is 2 weeks too late!
Theres your breakfast!
I just mulch them, the earthworms takes care of the rest
First, ladies!
You sir , are a very talented individual !!
All well and good until you snag your bag on something sharp and I really hate when I snag my bag on something sharp.
I found that if you cut all those damn trees down around your house in the neighborhood area, you don’t have any leaves on your lawn
We're not worthy...we're not worthy...
