- Graeme does some old school ground bait mixing and float fishing but using his Makita drill and his plastering whisk! Looks more like he is going to rough cast an outside wall…but there is a method to his madness as he is off to use something called a Chummer float .First he drops in to Grant’s Tackle where he sees what they look like. Then its off to the lake to find out if it will work…It takes him a while to get it going as there is a strong wind blowing ,but eventually he gets a fish…then another..and another….Check out the tips as this could well be the float to turn your luck around…Sit back and watch Graeme pour out the tips…Enjoy…

Thank you so much Graeme......as a teenager growing up in the 80s I know you were a respected angling journalist 😊❤......love your channel can we just imagine how well you would have collaborated with John Wilson ❤❤❤❤
the best fishing channel bar none , better hosting than any mainstream tv fish presenter, better information and tips too..cheers gray looking forward to trying the chum float, all the best m8 :)
No problem, pleased people enjoy the films.
Absolutely Grahame 🏴🥂
Excellent video. Those were some nice carp! I got to finally hit the river today after spending almost two weeks suffering with the you know what. Today was extra 'soecial'. Not only was I back in action, but I finally hooked one of my 'bucket list' fish, a Bowfin!!! Not a big one, only 6 lbs but still!! I caught it using a small chunk of uncooked but previously seasoned before freezing (salt/pepper) piece of chicken breast trimming my wife saved for me. It took about 10 minutes to land as it hit my hook about 25 yards out and in fairly fast moving water and I did not want to loose it in the rocks. That beauty along with a few 5+ pound large mouth bass made for one awesome afternoon. Thank you for helping me keep my sanity with your videos while I was fighting the 'C'.
Sounds like it all came together, well done on the catch.
Nice float. Interesting.👍👏
Love this . Down to earth guy. Great to watch . Keep going Graeme . Just like us all. Great viewing.👏😁🤝
I try to keep it real.
It is very real Graeme. Warts an all. Doing what the mortal normal people do. And you show us homemade ideas and your skills we look and learn. And your Banter cheers us up. 😁👏🤝 Always interesting viewing🎣
awsome video Graeme interesting float🎣
Great episode. Clearly an effective method. I have never seen or heard of a chummer float. I do have something similar in the form of a maggot float. Same principle where by you load the base of the float which just so happens to be a maggot feeder contraption, full of maggots and then cast out the self weighted float and away you go. I have only actually used it once. I want to give it another try after watching this video. :) Thanks for an excuse to fish! Tight lines everybody
Been making plans to add some chum techniques to a shore mark I fish regularly. Maybe not actually from the float itself LOL. Another enjoyable video as always. Thanks.
I reckon it would work off rocks or piers for Mackerel and Garfish, only in flat conditions though.Might not see the float if there are too many waves.
Brilliant video once again tight lines 🐟🦈
Awesome stuff, those feather look like Canada goose feathers, look far too thick and big for kite feathers 👍👍🤠
That is like the upside down version of Japanese Sabiki fishing. Never thought of doing that sort of rig.
For the bait you mixed up. Have not done that in ages but we use to sometimes steal grandma’s curry powder and add that as well.
We got scolded so bad. Lol
Hi Graeme, add your paint first i.e tip colour, then add a clear varnish (two coats)..
Great days fishing, never heard of the chum float to be honest..👍
Fantastic information TA fishing 👍🏻can we have some fly fishing for trout sometime in the future if you can please .
Lovely video as ever. A welcome respite from the usual doom and gloom everywhere else!
its a weird World we are in now,for sure...
A bit surprised old Grey didn't make his own Chummer float.I know a Mullet angler who moulds a handful of mashed bread around the lead shot of his float tackle ,to feed his hook bait.
Some serious damage to the fishes mouths on that venue!
A lot of places have that with the stock.I often wonder if it is done in earlier years .
Informative video. Well done.
Really good watch catch you on the next
I used to use something very similar on the Norfolk Broads, same principle with feeder on the bottom of a float, which we would fill with maggots which would slowly escape and descend to the hook bait. This would work great for about an hour or so, then the fish would soon wise up and keep well clear. I guess that’s the difference between wild fish and what generally could be described as tame fish…
I would tend to agree. Its more suitable to the commercial day ticket waters where the fish are super competitive .
great vlog on you channel fish keep up the great vlogs thanks lee
Made up my own floating feeders in the Summer went to a local lake and took 18 carp using micro pellets well soaked and a 8mm banded pellet on the hook, I had 5 doubles biggest being 14 pound, an absolute deadly method when they are up in the water
Bread, my favourite bait! In fact, it's the only bait I use nowadays. I find there are more carp closer to the surface than on the bottom generally.
You may be right with that theory,I was getting them right off the top last night .Also caught them on the bottom but they always seem to be more active on top as the light drops.
Its a vegetarian version of your sea fishing stinger rig, no wonder why it works so well. 😂
Used to use these feeders 25 years ago. Called chummer floats
Another totally awesome video Graeme.
Just out of interest, what video glasses do you use please if you don't mind me asking.
Keep up the great work mate 🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟
Video glasses ?...Do you mean my polarising glasses ?. They are prescription made, but I have to say they are dark than I would like. Good in really bright conditions but quite dark on cloudy days.
That would work for mullet
I would never have thought of that but you may well be right.
Don't forget to make flies from the feathers
Interested to know what depth you were fishing were you up in the water or were you on the deck
i think I show in the film. A couple of feet or so ?.
Love the channel but !! I think it’s time you upgraded your general purpose landing net
Eerrr....That one is the upgrade !!
Sorry mate, I thought that's what you were using for your videos that you use whist playing fish etc.
I made one of those years ago and I still have it somewhere in my garage lol but it works perfectly, always good watching your video's
👍👍👍
Would this float work on a river for chub ?
I have never tried it. No reason why not if you have a big chunk of flake underneath, but you would getting through groundbait every run down. It would empty on the way back I think.
What were you doing in Alresford young man🤔
We go there for a walk sometimes, and its a nice drive back through the countryside and the Candovers.
dip the tip of the rod and strike up quickly to sink the line
I would be worried the bread might fall off and I end up watching a float with a bare hook.
I was expecting a catfish video tonight Graham , what happened ?
Nothing, I only went catfishing a couple of nights ago,so that footage goes in the files. I might have another one going up next week.
