LA's Best Group Ride | Pros show up and drop everyone

  • LA's favorite Sunday ride had a few hitters show up and we were there to film it. Sean Quinn (EF Education-EasyPost), Phil Gaimon (Jukebox Cycling), Cormac McGeough (Wildlife Generation), and Jonny Brown (Miami Blazers) quickly established themselves at the front. Taylor Dawson was there to provide footage from inside the group while Bucky and I were filming from the moto. On screen data from Sean Quinn.

    Im in two minds about running reds, is it ever not an unnecessary risk? I think, being extremely cautious, it can be done safely. @@MMCM yeah I'm not trying to act all holier-than-thou and that I never run redlights, but there's a time and place. And in a "semi" busy intersection, with vehicles around, it just looks bad. The argument that LA drivers "don't care" is ignorant and selfish. Out of a handful of cars that saw it, there's probably one person that was indifferent to cyclists, and now they see that, and they turn anti-cyclist. And it's just a cumulative effect with so many roadies around, and that's how you get so many people hating on cyclists. I don't know, I'm in my 40s now, so maybe I'm just getting old and grumpy already... But also my other point with an ex world-tour cyclist, running lights like that to stay away from local riders on a group ride, makes me just feel embarrassed for him...

    Haha, I started watching only from few minutes into the race on the TV (so without reading the video description), thinking, wow SAFA is very fit managing to close those gaps like nothing… Then seeing 400W-500W for some minutes and almost 190bpm I started being suspicious, I mean he is fit but this is slightly different level :D unreal…

    Phil Gaimon running red lights in an attempt to "win" the group ride. Again. All talk about cyclists safety but safe riding doesn't apply to him apparently. Be better Phil.

    This just shows how insanely fast and fit pros are. And, with all respect, these are not anywhere close to top-flight pros. What even a middling rider on a World Tour team would do doesn't bear thinking about.

    I seriously would like to know how you think it's ok to post this? How many stop signs, how many times passing on the left, crossing the double yellow and just overall bad behavior that reflects on real riders. These guys should be ashamed of themselves as should the motorcycle "rider". There are group ride videos on here that show good behavior not this selfishness.
    Shame on you and the sponsors of these losers.

  • @redtestarossa
    @redtestarossa ปีที่แล้ว +13

    I’m disappointed at the stop sign and light running. It makes drivers angry and they could take that anger out on a 13 year old kid on their bike for the first time. It’s not cool to promote blatant lawlessness. Phil is literally doing nothing to promote cycling in the eyes of the motorist. They hold the keys to our lives whenever we ride. I can’t imagine what he does when the camera is off.

    • @roadcyclist1
      @roadcyclist1 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hahahaha....I love how you equate Phil running a red light to a motorist now wanting to take out a 13 year old kid. Good grief...go find something to do with your life.
