I’m an older car enthusiast and enjoy watching your videos. I do want to say however you are very fortunate to have a father who joins you on these builds, wonderful memories that you will have with you forever. My late father developed my car bug; unfortunately my work took me away from family for decades. So when I finally retired and moved closer I had only 3 months with him before he became ill and passed away. I had hoped to enjoy mountain cruising with him in my 911 but we never had the chance. Enjoy those moments with your dad, and again good work with your videos.

You probably won’t see this mate but i have been a subscriber for a while! Recently my car decided to give up on me due to fuel contamination. The intank fuel pump decided to give up! So long story short cleaned out the fuel tank cleaned the fuel lines and fitted new intank fuel pump and the new injectors and car is running just like new again! I was quoted 3k for all that to be done and had about 3 mechanics take the car for nearly 8 months! But I fixed the car in a couple of days! as I am a lorry driver and work a lot of hours and really only have couple days out the week when back home! Anyway thanks for doing what you do and if it wasn’t for you I wouldn’t have the nerve to have tried it!
I must say, I love how Matt and Freddy, who are from 2 opposite ends of the world, get along like life long buddies, helping one another out, collaborating, sharing, ect..I watch both religiously, and I must say...they are awesome together. Keep working together guys, you both are awesome...I love watching your vids and builds.
I know it's crazy attempting to repair this but not only does the car have a lot of sentimental value it is also going to make a great project for the channel. If your talking about upgrading it you should definetly put a crazy widebodykit on the gallardo because alle the bodypanels have to be replaced either way and it might even be cheaper
Yes she is. I think they should do a mini Mat as soon as possible. Even a 2 year old toddler can do a lot of work. And their hands are tiny, so they can access those hard to get tight places

This channel is a bit like Clarkson’s Top Gear. You’d watch them do anything just to watch their banter and whatever they get up to next. Mat could rebuild a washing machine and they’d still make it a funny and amazing watch. That’s the gold here. I’d be amazed in mainstream TV doesn’t approach Mat for Top Gear or a program, this is better than ANYTHING on Sky etc!!
I am in Oregon USA and we have the same type of weather and I run all seasons on my C6 Corvette. its so much better then slicks. they grip when it's cold don't have to wait for tire to heat up and they are great in the rain. I had some scary incidents when I had summer tires. especially when tires were cold.

Thats if their timings line up, because I cant see strad getting to the point where he can take off every single part that yellow gallardo to get to the subframes that quite literally the whole front and rear end are attached to . And then take them off, ship them, etc. Considering how fast paced Matt is with his rebuilds. But it could make for an interesting crossover between two channels cant lie.

You’re not supposed to weld automotive frames. In Canada, mechanics and auto body specialists are not allowed to weld frames since heat can cause the material to change in composition, making it much more brittle.
That’s waaaaay over the top. I know. Because, I fabricated pre production prototype cars for, Land Rover/Range Rover, Rover, MG, Ford, jaguar, Rolls Royce/Bentley, Aston. Martin, Leyland DAF. I worked for Airflow Streamlines in the 1990’s. Prototype division. We built rally cars also.
So glad you're good Mat, repairing is the right decision. I'm looking at at those tyres at 1.42 and it makes me think the same thing every time. Those aren't tyres for the road on a cold damp Leicestershire night, those semi-slicks belong on a warm track day where their immense grip can be built up to, nurtured and found. I'm going to love to see this car repaired but please, road tyres for the road.
Agreed. One thing I learnt from this video was how little Matt knows about tyres. Were those slicks even in their temperature window? "summer" tyres and slicks lose grip as temperature drops. Typically around 4⁰ C you'll begin to be better off with "winter" tyres..
The prevailing feeling I get from watching Mat's videos is that I want to be part of this friend group. Building the cars is great, and the videos are fantastic... but they just seem to genuinely like being 'round each other. That's the secret sauce. Best channel on TH-cam. Period.

@@charlie1832 Snow tires (not the ones with spikes, the normal ones) are the best for rain, they slash the rain to the sides like butter. I had them on my car because I used do a lot of skiing and found this out from pure experience.

My OG first car broke down and I had to buy a new one, but my parents and I love that 2013 Kia soul plus so much that we're fixing it by hand ourselves if we can get it to work. Haha all jokes aside, supercars are actually designed to crumple off the smallest impact. There’s so many videos online of low speed crashes and the cars literally get folded in half
really pleased, for you, to hear you state that the main mistake was in having semi-slicks on the car, and that you will NOT ever ever ever make that choice again, at least for a car residing in the UK.
I am very happy to see your videos, I am a car enthusiast from a very young age, and in general I really like to fix things and work with my hands so what you do is exactly my dream! I have a 1970 Volkswagen Beetle that my great grandfather bought me, first hand never sold, I did basic repairs to it but I lack a lot of knowledge to make it into what it really should be
It's all good Mat, glad you are fixing the Gallardo. It was just circumstance, rain, cold tires, and slicks.. sure the car has power no doubt.. just glad you are ok and no one was injured. Cars you can repair, people not so much.
So... I live in a desert, it doesn't rain much, but when it does, it floods. I only put slicks on a car when going directly onto a track. My everyday tires are Eagle F1's, which are all weather tires.
It's funny that I'm not into mechanics or fixing my own van really I just like watching the videos it's mad he can fix something in that much of a state .hook on this channel now .

Strad's Gallardo is a first gen spyder (2003-2008)... Matt's is the modernized LP560 (2008-2013). There are big differences body panel wise.

So... I live in a desert, it doesn't rain much, but when it does, it floods. I only put slicks on a car when going directly onto a track. My everyday tires are Eagle F1's, which are all weather tires.
It's funny that I'm not into mechanics or fixing my own van really I just like watching the videos it's mad he can fix something in that much of a state .hook on this channel now .

If ya go racing yoi swap em over.i had drag radials on my fox nody years ago and skinnies in the front worked great until it rained couldnt go over 35 i would drive on the side of the road that bad the curb sp if it slide i just curb slapped it.
