I briefly worked for Ed Zwick many years ago on a film in the UK that fell through before filming began. He was a really nice person - very friendly, and had time to sit and chat with me even though I was a lowly nobody on the pre-production team.
Ed, if you ever read this: you're a top man!
I just watched 'Glory' for the first time last night. I think it holds up well. All 8th grade students should watch it and Ken Burns' Civil War documentary.
I love Edward Zwick‘s movies. I think he’s an underrated director.
Need some of Ed’s movies on 4K like Last Samurai and Blood Diamond - nice that Glory was recently released!
I enjoy all of Ed Zwick's movies especially Glory and Legends of The Fall. I would like to read his book to learn about his motivations behind his movies.

I could not get enough of Thirty-Something, even though I had no children, no big circle of friends, was in my 20s & was not married. The writing & actors were so extraordinary!!❤❤❤❤

Legends Of the Fall is a perfect movie as is The Last Samurai
Ed Zwick's work is some of my favorite, and it inspired a lot of moments I placed into my own series ("Diamond Dragons").
The magesterial, unforgettable Glory (the 53rd's monument can be seen in the Boston Common), the 9/11, Trump-arab policy predicting The Siege...what an important filmmaker and legacy Mr. Zwick has left us 🎉

4:10 - What involvement did Patricia Broderick, Matthew Broderick’s mother, have in the film “Glory”? I just checked and didn’t see her name in the credits. Or was she perhaps managing her son?
I’m wondering why Ed Zwick, as the film’s director, would even have to entertain a back and forth with her over the size of her son’s role. Matthew was a grown man in his late 20s when cast. So unless she was representing him in some way, I don’t see why Zwick had to even engage in a dispute with her. 🤷🏽♂️

My guess is she was managing her son in some way. My guess also is that Matthew wasn't man enough to stand up to his mother and say "please don't meddle" 😂
For those unfamiliar, several years prior to the filming of GLORY, Matthew Broderick was involved in a car accident in Ireland that led to the death of a local woman. He never was officially charged for her death. The matter is public record for those curious.
I'd like to think his mother pushing for her son to have more screen time was a way to soften his acting image. Being seen more as the noble leader while making the public forget his past misdeeds.

I'm listening to the audiobook version of his new book and it is Fantastic! Highly recommended. Immensely enjoyable.
I will testify to crying in his films. Especially The Last Samurai.

Freedom of expression is worthy, watching some successful movies, I think, the most successful political strategy, they changed our lives for good, therefore encouraging artists never give up enjoying the business as movie directors and producers is crucial. Seems we are sick and tired of stories but they are the ones to help us carry on ❤🎉❤

Dude... dude... the story of Harvey Weinstein being a terror in Hollywood is one that goes back decades. People that know/knew saw the New York Times article and weren't remotely shocked. It fit exactly to who he was and how he operated.

Curious as I watch this why there are so few Mexican directors? Are they less than as a race, because with the sheer # in LA, you would think there would be more prominent Mexicans. or could it be over liberal policies don't help achievement or where is the representation?
Alejandro Iñárritu and Guillermo del Toro are just two Oscar winning directors that come to mind without even looking up the whole list of Mexican directors to pick from

Of course The American Film Institute has female students! Are you just going through life looking for things to be upset about? A "fellow" doesn't just mean a young man/boy. If you had any modicum of curiosity, or even knew that Google exists, you would discover this handy definition:
"A fellow is a concept whose exact meaning depends on context. In learned or professional societies, it refers to a privileged member who is specially elected in recognition of their work and achievements"
