    I love live edge wood everything. Good Choice.👍 Y'all did a great job. The changes you made makes it feel like a tiny home. The bedrooms are a great place to hang out now too. I have to tell you the lighting just makes the whole thing. The warmer color makes it so cozy. I didn't realize how much of a difference the lighting could make. The barhrooms counters and sinks major upgrade👍 During the day the open concept and the colors make it bright and cheery. So many little family touches everywhere. Really nice. Rainy days indoors are going to be welcomed. 😊 I really like the extension on your awning too. Great outdoor space. Have fun in your new tiny home. Love y'all.😘💜💜💜💜👼🐾💜

    Hi, I'm Pat. First time viewing you channel and I subscribed right away. I love your rig!!! I'm an owner of an Open Range Light and see many of the same things in your before pictures as we have in our RV. I am envious of your creativity and courage to try something different. I foresee the RV industry following the trend you just started. I love live edge wood and natural and stained wood. I don't know if I could be brave enough to paint the island a shade of green. I know you love it. I do admire it but think I would have been very afraid to try that. The results are simply amazing. The tile, the paint, the new furniture, the wood, everything!!!
    I am certainly envious of your basement storage. Looking forward to following more from your channel.
    Thanks for sharing,
    Pat

    • @ProjectTrek
      @ProjectTrek  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Wow, thanks for the kind words Pat! I was pretty unsure of the green as well, but my wife was 100% sure about it.
      I’ve renovated enough spaces with her to know not to argue. She makes the plans and I just execute. I will say, I’m especially proud of this build-out. Got to try a lot of new things, including the live-edge and deal with challenges like the slide transitions. There were a few times where I felt like throwing in the towel, but it came together nicely.
      I’ll admit that had the floors not been so water damaged I would have been more hesitant to completely gut it, but since they needed to come out anyway...

    I love love LOVE your style! Just found your channel looking for the PROPER way to paint your RV walls (thanks for that). We're picking up our FIRST RIG tomorrow and are just now transitioning into full time after two LONG years of planning/dreaming, I'm excited to binge your videos for more ideas :) I may be totally wrong, but did I see you guys give a tour of your rig on Less Junk More Journey's channel? I'm remembering you saying that if you can leave your cabinets their original color it's best, which was a total lightbulb moment for me that just clicked. If that WAS you, then you are responsible for a total 180 in the rig we shopped for. I was planning on painting everything white on an older rig (which now looks very sterile to me), but we opted for walnut cabinets so I don't have to touch them! Thanks for your content and your joyful spirits...hope to meet your family on the road someday!

    • @ProjectTrek
      @ProjectTrek  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That was us! I’m glad you found the content helpful!
      A lot of people are moving towards the all white look, and I’ve seen it pulled off well, but cabinets can look great natural as long as you pull those elements in somewhere else.
      Congratulations on your new-to-you RV! Good luck with your renovations.

      @@ProjectTrek My ex and I lived in a 20 foot camping trailer,( late model) for two years. He was a tall, big man and I was a short, fat woman with a double bed that I had to crawl over him to get out of bed snd the walls were often wet from condensation. I loved the social aspect of meeting new people and have considered trying again now that it’s just me and my dog but still not sure.

    • @ProjectTrek
      @ProjectTrek  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ceiling height in the main bedroom is 6’4”. Distance from top of mattress to ceiling is 3’8”. Once we removed the cabinetry above the bed, we had plenty of room to sit up in bed.

    Love your how to videos especially the washer dryer one.
    Your shower is just like ours. Do you have a pebble coating on the floor of it? If so, what do you use to keep it clean?

    • @ProjectTrek
      @ProjectTrek  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We do - it’s kind of that rough textured flooring. We have an after shower spray that we made with essential for regular maintence. But if it starts getting grime on it a magic eraser sponge and some elbow grease seems to work the best.

    • @ProjectTrek
      @ProjectTrek  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The slides are quite short. You could put 2 bunks in one slide but there wouldn’t be enough head room to sit up. The only way, in my opinion, to add a third bunk would be to remove the closets at the front cap.

    • @ProjectTrek
      @ProjectTrek  3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      I’m going to be completely honest with you. I have no idea.
      What I can tell you is that there is tons of precedent here. We are in a community of other traveling families where we are considered a very small family. There are plenty of large (5+ kids) traveling Fulltime. Some of these families are very young and some have older, high school-aged children.
      If at some point we need to build a partition wall or even sell this RV and move into a different layout - I’m not opposed to any option, but we’re not quite at that bridge yet.
      Hell, we might even hop off the road and buy a house - who knows?!

      It is Shaw vinyl plank flooring from Lowe’s. It was about $55/box, and added roughly 500lbs to the weight of the rig, so be sure to account for that.
      My only regret with the flooring was that I didn’t put down a mold-blocker paint before I laid the flooring.

    Wow! Gorgeous! Our family of 4 is planning to hit the road in the next year! Is a 5th wheel more comfortable for a family of 4 that an A class motor home for full-time? We may be staying at each destination for several weeks at a time, but traveling with kids and dog in the truck vs motor home doesn’t sound as convenient. We are torn on which to choose! Your videos are great! Thank you!

    • @ProjectTrek
      @ProjectTrek  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If I were in your position, I’d be going with a towable (5th wheel or travel trailer). When we had our Class A, I definitely felt like I was living in a vehicle. It was okay for 3-4 day stays.
      I always tell people living in a motorhome is like living in a vehicle, and living in a 5th wheel is like traveling in a house.
      Travel days in the truck are definitely less convenient, but what we never considered until we were already in our Class A was keeping that cool on travel days. That’s a huge area to be heating/cooling, and when it’s passing through hot air at 60mph the dash air conditioner just can’t keep up. There were a few very sweaty days in that RV.

    Wow what lovely trailer you've remodelled it brilliantly excuse me for being ignorant I thought that all 5th wheel trailers were toy haulers maybe it's because I'm in UK that would be called a motor home & I would have to have a hgv truck & licence to drive it it would be the equivalent to an 18 wheeler in USA it would be illegal to tow one here with the same sort of vehicle you have ,I dont think we have park ups capable of taking vehicles that are so long if there places here that allowed such long vehicles it would cost approximately £ 90 .00 a night about $ 150 dollars to stay there ,then we have the fuel cost at 1.45 a litre for diesel roughly £ 7.25 a gallon roughly about $ 3.50 a gallon in USA. If I can persuade the wife to get involved I will buy a 8 metre motor home maximum 3.5 tons i can drive that legally here on a car license ,we have both taken early retirement recently & she wants to do the hotel rout cos she does not have to make the beds or cook & clean ,i am really hooked though my wife does holidays with my daughter places like France & Italy involving flying & hotel accomodation.Im not into that i love driving so i might get one any way when they go together i can go of on my own somewhere here in UK I wish i was 30 years younger i would be out there full time rving,thank you for linking me to your house tour absolutely brilliant ,please keep safe from covid & drive safely all ways on your travels.

      @ProjectTrek  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks so much Clive! Yes, the USA’s penchant for “big, bigger, biggest” definitely extends to our caravans (that’s what you guys call them, right?)
      I wish I could be more of a minimalist and travel by van with the family, but I just love all the space we have.
      You brought up campground costs, and while $150/night would definitely break the bank, we actually utilize a campground membership. It was a large upfront cost of about $7,000 USD, but we pay no nightly fees, and we can be in those campground for up to 21 nights.
      Congrats on your early retirement and safe travels to you as well!

    • @ProjectTrek
      @ProjectTrek  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Some of the stuff is Velcro-ed down. The others we stow during travel. From beginning to wheels-rolling we can usually be on the road within an hour if we’re rushing, hour-and-a-half under normal conditions.
      All said the open-shelving is new to us, but really only adds maybe 5 minutes to the routine.

    • @ProjectTrek

      Unfortunately the slides in the bunkroom are far too short. They are 52” from floor to ceiling. It’s “possible” but there wouldn’t be much of any headroom to sit up in bed. We wanted to do exactly that so bad, but we just couldn’t get it to work.

      Great question. There was a net gain of ~600lbs over the whole renovation. The floors were the heaviest single item weighing in at 520lbs. I wasn’t too concerned about that weight though since the weight was evenly spread throughout the entire rig.
      What helped was that we removed some heavy items like the 3 residential recliners and 2 jack knife sofas.
      All said and done, if we’re not carrying any fresh water with us, we’re 1200-1400lbs under the CCC.
