a very young Alan wall's, had a few debates with Alan over oldies v newies, I wasn't receptive to change for a few years, but a wigan niter at tiffanys changed that, queen of fools spun 3 times in a night, made me appreciate what we had in Scotland in the shape of the shotts niters.

It's hard to get your head around where Tony ended up and the reason why, but you can't take away what impact he had at the Leicester All nighter. this was my 1st All nighter Venue, went to my 1st one on my 18th birthday! Boy! What a birthday present that turned out to be,as it changed my life over night! I was amazed that someone who was a vicor was into this amazing Life changing music I was getting hooked on and have been ever since!. I remember him playing" I don't need no doctor" by Ray Charles, 1st time I'd ever heard that tune at the time and it took me a week for the hairs on the back of my neck to go back down! After that 1sr time of hearing it every time I went to Leicester, I'd pester the Life out of Tony to play it. He was always willing to put himself out, so for me he played that record every month and it became a Leicester dance floor classic.though i think it did get played at Wigan but wasn't as popular there as Tony made it at Leicester, wth a little help from yours truely pestering the Life out of him to play it. I'd rather remember him for those good times, it's just such a shock that he had that side to him that we won't ever get our head around.

I remember Tony mainly at the Fleet but also Wigan, what happened to him? I remember going to his vicarage after an all nighter for a cup of tea. He used to play Purple Haze but hated the song. He always used to day ''I've had a reques
t for this but don't like it''

Dear old Tony, he lived in my village in the 80's and I used to go to the Fleet and Leicester Oddfellows all nighters. Me and a couple of other lads from Grantham used to chump his gear and records in for him, which saved us Queueing on cold nights. Great days!!!!!!!!!!!

@soulechoes I have seriously considered doing a CESC Leicester Oddfellows Veterans patch, based on the 1st Anniversary logo (the Leicester City cinquefoil) and the dates. I know it started in 83, but when was the last? De'ye think it'd sell? And is the old Allnighter Club of Great Britain also gone now?

When Tony came to london to dj he popped round to collect my good mate addie and my self in chiswick
With a good few hours to kill the record box came out and he played we taped and had a bloody good pre club record session . A very decent bloke never had a problem with him
Another time we left oddfellows after the nighter and followed tonys car to a dayer somewhere cant remember long time ago but i do remember tony pulled in to a lay by jumped out of his car northern blaring out and started dancing much to our bemusement and his passengers
Apparently he had partaken in too much cough mixture which obviously went straight to his legs
    Funny old world northern soul

Friggin hell - The Rev!! I knew Tony from The Back Street Soul Club events in Norwich, back in the mid 80's. Great guy - sent me original copies of Evie Sands' - Picture Me Gone & The Marvelettes - I'll Keep On Holding On and always dropped James Bounty - Prove Yourself A Lady. (Who'd love to say hi, but no facebook page)
