I imagine the driver was found about 20-30 yards from where the steering wheel was found (@1 o'clock 9:42 - 9:44), he must have put one hell of a death grip on that steering wheel, and sailed through the air with it. 12:39 Trooper Morphis locates a bag of weed and a flip-flop @ 11 o'clock (V1 at 12 o'clock), that aligns with the 1 o'clock. That is one hell of a flight path DeeRoh took, just can't see what he hit at about the 2 o'clock position that spun the vehicle landing it towards the west. At 160 mph, he face planted that airbag, wouldn't be surprised if stuck to his face.
Those guys are the best in southeast Arkansas. You can hear the compassion in Trooper Morphis voice because he knew the driver. My heart goes out for the ones that worked the scene. Also to the families of the driver. Great job guys!
This reminded me of a story My mother used to tell me about an accident her cousin was in. A bunch of drunk kids hit them, and caused a roll over in a field. The drunk/high kids were laughing because her cousins husband was searching around in the tall grass, on his hands and knees for their baby that had been ejected from the car. (This was the late 60's, before seat belts and baby seats were mandatory.) He ended up snapping and beating one of the kids half to death. Turned out, the baby was deceased, under the overturned car. They found it when the wrecker flipped the car over. Cops refused to arrest the husband for the assault. Things were different back then.
😢😢 In Santa Ana CA back in 2006 the apartments I lived at police were called on a father that had his 3 yr old daughter sat down on a hot plate bc she wouldn't stop crying the responding officers had to restrained one of their own bc he beat the crap out of the father. I saw from my window how he tossed him out his window and beat him in the front patio. But the worst part was the little girl screaming "daddy daddy" 😭
@@denitzilla thats horrible (What the dad did, not the cop). I know that if it wasnupntonmost of us, we would not hold the cop liable, but the reality is cops are not judge, jury and executioner. If you let this slide, where's the line? The cop probably screwed his career, and gave the "father" a ghetto lottery pay day. In hind sight, the cop probably should have stuffed down the anger, and did his job. Things have changed a lot since the 60's.

I’m praying for you and your daughter. ❤
Holy moly man, I'm speechless. So sorry to hear that, but also so appreciative to see you bring us back to the tragic reality of these scenarios. A belt can keep a feller in the car. A belt can hold a feller's pants up. A belt, properly used by a feller's daddy, might prevent a son from even considering fleeing in the first place.

I knew a guy who worked at a Ford/Chrysler assembly plant in Ontario. They produced the police Crown Vic’s there too. Legend has it that sometimes on C shift one of these road beasts would be driven off the line for some recreational time in a out of the way area of the lot. I myself worked at a tier two supplier factory as a forklift operator. In winter there was an outdoor machine rented for us to use if racking etc needed to be brought in/out. There were ample shenanigans happening with that thing on B shift so I have no reason to doubt the voracity of the Crown Vic story. Those Marauders were well known and could lay serious rubber.
Im german so ive gone close to 200mph on the autobahn a couple of times when there was close to no traffic and clear weather People have no idea how narrow the road gets and how unstable the car feels and im a good driver in the prime of my years with excellent eye sight and reactions who works as a mechanic and is certified in knowledge over all the components a vehicle consists of To go 160mph on a road like that at night is completely insane I mean yeah an excellent driver could get away with it but an excellent driver would never do it because its idiotic Ignore driving skills and road conditions just think about some other driver suddenly pulling out a sideroad or wildlife suddenly appearing Even something as small as a rabbit will hit you like a cannonball at 160mph
Very well said! *Superspeeding on poorly lit roads like that at night in a Dodge Challenger (which is a heavy car n ain't great at takin corners, hence mockingly referred to as boats by petrolheads) n without havin seatbelts on!* Stupidity really knows no bounds! This was a Darwin Award that was well deserved. I'm just glad that it was a single vehicle crash n that nobody else was hurt.
This is one thing I worry of when I'm driving home after a night shift. I live out in the country in South Carolina, and some of the roads have 55+ MPH speed limits (in the South 45+ on a country road gives you pretty good clearance to enjoy some spirited driving, because police don't commonly patrol those roads). That said, wildlife is a terrifying variable. Deer, raccoons, strays, etc, and it's absolutely terrifying, because it's very common we see roadkill and car debris out and about on these roads. These roads are also definitely NOT smooth or healthy enough to run 160 MPH.
You'd think. But there a actually lots of examples that prove otherwise. Just saw another recent "160" Ark pursuit of a Black Charger/Challenger launch after hitting a slightly elevated train crossing and ejected the driver. Just broke his leg. Found him fully conscious. But the craziest one that comes to mind is from like the 90s. A Corvette doing 120 hits the back corner of a big rig trailer and it just explodes spinning wildly. Dude was uninjured except for one or two scratches. Just him left him sitting on the side of road. It's a must watch. It was still available on YT last time I looked for it.
@@jaybingham3711I saw it, the luckiest driver alive. On the other hand,we had a man who died hitting a neighbours gate at maybe 15mph tops - aorta rupture. There's so many things at play but the observation that drunks make it more than their innocent victims often holds true, unfortunately.
I just watched a video where this guy was handcuffed in the back of a cop car, got out of thecuffs 'cause he was so skinny.....took off and led them on a chase, crashed into a semi on the side of the road and died. Debris field was huge.
@@kenoneill8783 Don't say that! This very agency was involved with another charger exceeding 160 when he head on hit an 18 wheeler and stopped it in its tracks!! His car went a few yards down the road as he got out and ran away on camera from the trooper chasing him! Unbelievably, almost without injury. You can NEVER TELL!
People don't realize how the road changes at 125+ mph. Even the weight of the car seems to change. A small hump in the road can make you go airborne. We don't normally drive at those speeds so people don't realize until its too late. There's no way a street car could make that flat turn at those speeds. I don't know why the guy ran but I doubt it was worth dying for.
Yeah, a high school friend had his brother take us on a surprise ride, his car began to hydro-plane at 140 MPH. All the white lines in the center became one. I was in the back sit , I buckled up, asked him to slow down. I knew he didn’t have the skills or talent to handle his car. But his brother , kept telling him go faster. I’m here to tell my story, the dude got into drugs and stuff, I guess people want uncontrolled life style. Grim Reaper is just around the corner .
That's what happens when the driver is not as good as he thinks he is. Thank goodness he didn't take anyone else out. At that speed they would be red mist.
No seatbelt is a big one. But I suspect he would be dead at that speed just from the crash. In NASCAR and Indy those speeds kill drivers who had on helmets and 5 point harnesses.
My grandpa actually got me a visor clip when I was a teen that said " don't drive faster than your guardian angel can fly". I am still here because I remember those words
Seems a lot of people with these powerful cars believe owning one somehow automatically imbues them with the skills of a NASCAR driver. That or they're under the impression that real life is like "the fast and the furious" or GTA. Inevitably becoming Recipients of a "Darwin Award" like this fool.
Young Males typically think they are god's gift to 4 wheels. And this is how the real world treats the drivers who think they're living in a movie franchise.
@@dodgersfan8598I bet there is a safety latch that engages and holds the shotgun/rifle in place during a severe accident - like rollover(s)…it likely has to be released before the weapon can be removed again.
My little brother died like this in 2017… running from the police. Worst pain I ever felt… losing a sibling. He was ejected from the car… the car ended up on him. It not worth it. The pain never goes away. I just learn to live without him. You suppose to grow old with your siblings. He was 32 years old!!!
It’s a horrible feeling searching for someone you think has been ejected. Even if you know they’re not a good person, it’s still disconcerting knowing they’re probably unconscious/deceased & just lying somewhere out of sight.
Yet stupid he can’t catch that car had the plate new the guy still chased in the black of night 100 on a dangerous road. He could killed him self in a pothole deer or someone walking. He should have never chased after he made the first left
I’m amazed at the guy’s eyesight!!! I watched that footage back ten times before he turned around and couldn’t spot anything in the ditch. Not to mention how he knew which way to turn every time 🤯 - just amazing.
I’m amazed the trooper was able to follow him, I lost sight of him a long time ago. Lol. Hats off to the police that have to deal this on a daily basis
If you watch police chases from Arkansas they're pretty good at keeping the fleeing suspect in sight even though they are far away. I don't know if they have infrared to track a speeding car but they are able to keep on their tails.
You gotta remember, your eyes have unlimited resolution. Your computer monitor, phone, TV, or MP3 player has a limited resolution and can't display everything, and the cameras are a limit point to. Things like contrast and pinpoint detail get lost after a certain point.
I remember seeing this on another channel. For all the comical comments, I found it deeply tragic. The officer spent so long searching in the dark calling the suspect´s name begging him to say something. And, yeah, running was an absolutely stupid thing to do, moronic, but in the end, a man died horribly, and it was a man the officer knew. I really feel for the cop. I really do.
The lead cop was amazing in every way. It’s even more heartbreaking because I think if it’s a small town, the cop actually knows this person calling him by his first name.
If the officer knew the driver, the high-speed chase was unnecessary. Best course of action is to stay calm, don't chase, let driver think they have escaped, and they will slow down. They can be picked up at a later time for speeding, fleeing, etc...
@@JR-ud6obso it’s the cops fault dude died? lol no depends on the county. In mine they don’t chase anyone who flees. If this county does this officer is expected to follow protocol.
Speeding wouldn't have even sent him back to prison. Maybe a night or two in county jail. Sadly, some people grow up still having the mentalities of naive children who think life is a video game where they can do whatever they want and not face harm. Someone speeding at 160 down a dark winding road, not even wearing a set belt was bound to win a Darwin award. Makes me grateful that my basic survival instincts are wired right.
I am impressed by the officers skilled driving scene management, and care for the driver wanting to help him, cool and calm during the chase, and you could hear the release of his adrenalin after he found the vehicle, a job not easily done by anyone, sir I applaud you for the fine job you do, protecting and upholding the law, I thank you
I dont think there was any evidence that the victim and the cop knew each other. The cop was calling out "D. Rowe" for Desmond Rowe, the victims name which came up when the officer ran the plate at the first stop
Give me a break. The douchebags got out of their squad car with guns drawn, even though the accident occurred at 160 miles an hour. Like there was going to be any threat at that high rate of speed. They also took their sweet ass time to try to administer any medical help. They were more concerned about their own safety than anybody else. Idiots!
I was nervous for him because those roads were dark as hell. I thought some of those lights were cars. How he was able to see at those speeds and maintain was impressive 😮
Sad to watch the last few minutes of a person’s life when it could had all been avoided. To know the family can watch this video and maybe screaming for him to just stop! Why would you risk your life for nothing. The stress the officers go through is heartbreaking also.
You’re right. We all just witnessed the last few minutes of someone’s life. That’s a bit sobering. The one comforting thing I can say, is if his family watches this is that they can hear the trooper calling out to help him. That would comfort me. But then again, I would pray none of my family members made his life choices in the first place. Not trying to be too unkind here.
Thank you for being a caring human, reading most of the comments is very disheartening and is a glimpse of how shallow and ego driven the majority of humans are.
There's something that most drivers are not aware of is that regular tires are not designed or built for those high speeds. Cop cars have specials that are built for high speeds. 40 years ago, one specially made tire for a cop car cost over $300.
It was a Challenger, so he might have had tires like that, but the car was designed to be fast in a straight line. They're not meant to negotiate curves at 160mph.
my challenger has tires priced at 430 a piece, perilis, most challengers have good tires that can handle higher speeds, but, given he probably drove wreckless often, they may have been bald or close to it
that being said, these cars are way too heavy for high speeds in curves, i would never even attempt that, absolutely crazy thinking his car could take it
Amazing scene control by Officer Morphis. To be mindful of the possible outcomes if the driver was still active. Reminding all responding to watch cross fire, keeping units locked / no keys, looking out for walkers along the road, etc. Very much on point and heightened situational awareness.
It's called high performance driver training. Police departments don't let just anybody climb behind the wheel. America has enough carnage on the roads without adding police light bars and sirens to the recipe.
@@pre1980cars In a police Charger?... Not very fast (they have brake problems). But they do have that pusher plate in front. That helps considerably, as does the structural re-enforcement of the front end police Chargers have.
I witnessed a accident were the driver was ejected from his vehicle, he shot out of the drivers window like he being sent into space, his hands were down at his side like he was pogo dancing. he flew a good 30' in the air and came down right on the HWY and his car was rolling over and over, not a second went by after he landed did his cars roof roll right over him and popped him like a grape. the car ended up on it's wheels and rolled to a stop. He was hot rodding through traffic weaving in and out between cars and lost it right in front of me. Traffic just drove around him as I did and that was a sight I will never forget.
When I was in high school I worked at a place right along the highway, one day during the winter a lady rolled her van right in front of us. I don't know if she was drunk or what, but the windows were open and she got halfway out while it was rolling and it removed her upper body. We jumped over the short fence and ran over to help and she was smeared all over the place. Wear your seatbelt.

That officer is pulling it out of his a$$. He cant possibly know how fast he was going. He never went over 100, until after the driver was long gone. He had already been wrecked for a little bit, before he ever caught up to him. The driver didnt have to fo more than 100 to pull away from the officer. Someone who saw him do it, figured out where he had landed because he was screaming for help because he thought he was going to suffocate in the snow. He was psychologically messed up, but survived.
We didn't always have them. My 1966 was the first car I bought new and I ordered them special. I think the 67 model year was the first year they were a federal law.
A shoulder and lap combo belt isn’t going to stop you from getting ejected at 160 anyways. There’s cases of people being partially ejected in lower speeds collisions who were wearing seat belts, that failed to hold them in. The old cab over semi trucks were notorious for ejecting drivers in collisions regardless of wearing a seat belt or not.
I once had a paramedic once tell me he’s “Never pulled a dead dude out of a seatbelt…” I looked at him and said “So you just leave him there? You are SICK!”
#1 problem with Challengers is the lack of an actual racing seatbelt. Should be required on all cars that can exceed 160, much less on the scat and hellcat version.
driving at those speeds, on those roads! Total respect to the officers here. That takes absolutely every fibre of your body and mind to do that. To then suddenly change, still control your adrenaline and deal with the aftermath with compassion and professionalism is nothing short of hero level.
I'm sad for people like you who can't see the big picture clearly. Your single minded, simplistic, sheep mentalities that tell you things like "Cop good, Criminal bad" leads you to conclusions that a speeding criminal who's putting innocent lives in danger is a moron but a cop doing the exact same thing is a Hero and deserves your admiration. Sorry, he's a bigger moron because it's his job to NOT put innocent lives in harms way. With all the resources law enforcement has at their disposal and the oath they take to protect and serve, there is no excuse for the poor judgement that this officer exhibited. He had no chance of catching this car unless he kept him running fast enough to crash out. Which could just as easily have been into an oncoming vehicle carrying innocent families. A hero would have used good judgement and common sense, backed off and coordinated with other officers to apprehend the suspect in a safer location and manner. He knew the guy well enough to call out his nickname so it's not like he was going to get away with running from him. He exhibited nothing even close to compassion or professionalism. His only goal in calling out to him was to illicit a response so he'd know where he needed to point his gun. He wasn't even smart enough to figure out how to release his rifle from its mount. Calling out to the guy was just a tactic to locate his victim in case he had a gun. There were no heros in this video. Just two criminals. The one who ran and the one the people of the State of Arkansas paid for the crimes he committed.
That cop is gangster the way he’s calling out the driver but mad respect to him, the rest of the police officers and first responders for dealing with these horrible events.

They need to show people (especially kids) the effects of such a violent crash on the human body. For starters even with airbags and seat belts the body may be stopped but the internal organs aren’t and the come out anywhere and everywhere there’s a opening and you can imagine if doors and numbers that were bolted on get torn off, well you get the picture and unfortunately the first responders get the picture also speaking of that they have time off counseling etc including disability pay for first responders but the lowly tow truck driver rarely even gets a simple thank you

They should play these fatal pursuits in high school classrooms. Young adults need to see real life consequences. With that being said, its sad and unfortunate.
That won't solve anything. They will just think the driver was an idiot who should have done X, Y, or Z and that they are better. How about not allowing vehicles on American roads that can do over 70 m.p.h. except LEO and emergency vehicles?

No lie kinda dumb on both ends they’re told to evade certain situations with certain speeds for this exact reason besides the man losing his life the officer could have as well or could’ve crashed into an innocent person thank god it didn’t happen but all of this could’ve been prevented multiple times on both ends

I watched this sadly, because my son was ejected at 140kph when he hit a telephone pole - and wanted to compare what happened. His was a suicide. No drugs or alcohol. It was a hard thing to watch knowing how quick death can come to you at those speeds, and seeing the result and the crashed car was hard hitting for me. Please don't take your life. Don't let another mother grieve.
@@cathiwim It was that dreaded phone call from the police in the middle of the night. Thanks for the hug - I appreciate it. Never knew there were so many parents who suffer this until after it happened to me. Little ray of sunshine - his partner was 2 wks pregnant at the time, neither of them knew. 9 mths later she gave me a beautiful little granddaughter I never thought I would have. She waves to daddy in the stars at night. She'll be 4 in November. Pity he didn't stay around long enough to know that he was a father. Blessings.
5:10 you can actually see the moment he crashes, in the distance!! If you zoom in or look closely, you can see a quick flash just left of the road. Crazy!! You can see it from that far away!
Nice job! Without looking at the skid marks to see if he just wasn't paying attention to the 45mph curve ahead, my guess would be he had a flat and lost control and rolled it and was ejected. You'll see lights, the car rolls, then it crashes into the embankment (no lights), then when it's sitting in the ditch you see the brief fireball. Flip flops, weed, no seat belt. Nice.
I appreciate and acknowledge how professional the officer was. I believe he saw how severe the accident was and truly wanted to help the suspect... These guys are human also, despite what a few bad ones have done to their reputation.
This happened to one of my long time friend's son. His son got pulled over, the officer managed to get one cuff on him, and that's when her son decides to get in his truck and hit the gas. Within a minute (this happened not far from where he was pulled over), he was at 100mph, lost control, and went off the road hitting a tree. When a firefighter got to the scene who was not working but lived right where the accident happened, he said my friend's son was moving and the truck was on fire. He wasn't conscious, so even though he had soot in his lungs, he burned alive even though he didn't feel anything. Him moving was probably a brain response. So awful!!!!!
There’s no way people are weighing a traffics ticket over a felony evasion charge at best or paralyzing injuries to death at worst. Once you pull over they have your license plate recorded before they even get out of the car so what’s the point of running when they’ll be at your doorstep the next morning.
What a great group of team players, respectful but cautious, constant sharing of information.. very concerned for each other. If the driver wasn't a good person at the end of the day, he has family, friends who lost him. He mad the worst decision of his life. Prayers to all ya'll. And his loved ones. What a team,!
Every video on here with Arkansas State troopers… they’re all like this officer. Remain calm, professional, absolutely aware of everything around them, they don’t bark orders or yell and scream at people… I think they’re calm demeanour disarms most criminals! 🤣 That one video where the trooper pulls over 2 guys in a rented white small GM SUV, it’s loaded with fentanyl & cocaine and the trooper puts each guys in cuffs one at a time, calmly and no issues. They could have jumped him and likely would have been able to overpower him, they had a lot of drugs worth 100’s of thousands, that usually motivates people to make dumb choices. That officer was just like this trooper, just as cool as could be. I’m not a fan of most police because we see the crap these bad cops are doing more and more on camera, but you have to give credit for good officers when we see them! ASP appear to know how to hire and train good police. 👍🏼☮️
I would scold the officer and the justice system. Shame on them for being hypocrites and murders. Officers actions got this man killed. What sense does it make to try and stop a crime with commiting the same crime??? THEY HAVE HIS LICENSE PLATE SHOULDNT THAT BE ENOUGH TO CATCH HIM. NAH WE GOTTA DRIVE 160 PAST INNOCENT DRIVERS TO CATCH SOMEONE DOING 160 PASSED INNOCENT DRIVERS. SEE HOW THATS INSANE?
I was thinking the same thing. I mean, there HAS TO be better ways of handling a situation like this. 1 speeding car is bad enough and 2 are only worse. Unless there’sa victim in the car bleeding to death or something I don’tsee why they can’t catch up some other how. What was his initial crime anyway? Was it just speeding? I hope not cause that’s DEFINITELY not a god around reason to put the public in danger and cause damage to the vehicle tax payers paid for hitting them holes like that.
@@DaniF-wp4iu yep just speeding. And yea they have his license plate which tells the owner of the car and their address. Literally 0 point to chase him but they will say otherwise.

They're not meant to negotiate curves at 160mph.
my challenger has tires priced at 430 a piece, perilis, most challengers have good tires that can handle higher speeds, but, given he probably drove wreckless often, they may have been bald or close to it
that being said, these cars are way too heavy for high speeds in curves, i would never even attempt that, absolutely crazy thinking his car could take it

the trooper called out to make sure everyone’s doors were locked (meaning other responding units). There’s a lot of videos out there were a person in handcuffs steals a police car. That was the first time I’ve ever heard a trooper or police officer call that out.
It's smart because patrol cars have been stolen before after they think they knew where the suspect went only to realize he had circled back to the patrol cars.
I noticed that too and I'm guessing that it's happened enough to where they need to be aware and remember to lock the doors.

#1 problem with Challengers is the lack of an actual racing seatbelt. Should be required on all cars that can exceed 160, much less on the scat and hellcat version.
Unless you’re racing the challenger, there is no need for the harness. Ideally, you aren’t driving 160 in the day to day commute

When a firefighter got to the scene who was not working but lived right where the accident happened, he said my friend's son was moving and the truck was on fire. Props to the Trooper, calm, professional, head on a swivel.
I like how he reminded fellow responders to lock their cruisers so one wouldn't get commandeered, he was thinking
Even tho in every situation they think they know it all and we must follow all orders bc theres a purpose to it. Its bs people are just brainwashed into listenin to the governments orders, that may have camr outta nowhere but it applies to the police and its true.
Kids, learn from this act of stupidity. Just pull over and cooperate with the cops.
