Solving the water crisis | Spencer Dusebout | TEDxOaksChristianSchool

  • Spencer Dusebout talks about a simple challenge and how he and his friends as travelling teenagers noticed that some of the people in countries they were visiting were spending most of their time gathering water that was dirty and insufficient for drinking. They decided to form a nonprofit and now have brought clean water to 200k+ people in Africa, Latin and South America, and Asia.
Spencer Dusebout, president of Hands4Others, a non-profit bringing fresh water to global villages, proves that youth doesn’t disqualify anyone from making an impact. He co-founded H4O at the age of 16. H4O is supplying fresh water to areas of the world that did not have it.
This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at ted.com/tedx

Spencer is a brilliant speaker, but more important, he's living the life he's talking about. What a role model, a contribution, celebrating the art of possibility. A great talk.

Spencer speaks the truth. Young people can make a difference in this world! Knowing Spencer personally, I am so proud to see the fruit of his labor as H4O continues to connect with more and more young people!

Yes! I was a missionary in the Congo for 8 years at an orphanage and the main problem I saw was the so many kids would not come to school because they were sick from the water or walking long distances. The world's water crisis is such an important issue and let's not forget that we have to help people get water before we can help them do anything else!

Make a pipeline following the rivers so when towns pull water from the river they aren't reusing all the upstream town's waste water that they dump into the river, make one continuous pipeline for every town's waste water treatment facilities to connect and dump into, so we can quit going from toilet to tap. Also, since the Pacific is screwed from those reacters, keep it off tap and pipe fresh water through filtration from the Atlantic instead, and pipe to the whole country, even switching California's supply. Utilize existing water treatment facilities, just take clean water from the Atlantic and tie waste discharges together and send to a leech field, maybe a desert : ) Natural sand filter. Then we can stop going to the bathroom in out drinking water like Africa. And think of how much cleaner or rivers will be. Right now is like everyone went to the bathroom in a swimming pool, they septate the solids, pump some oxygen in to feed some good bacteria for 6 hours, then pump it into a bleach tank for 20 minutes and send it out to drink

Water is plantfull but we need to store it,transfer it distributes it instead most of the water is lost into oceans. The system is repitable for millennia and if we not preserv water we lost it !
