- Good morning! Thank you for joining us for our Oblate Family Morning Prayer. Please join Kirk Jacob, director of MAMI UK, in Bedford, England. Today is Wednesday 9th October, 27th Week in Ordinary time. Today is the feast of Saint John Henry Newman. An interesting fact for our Oblate family is that Newman had a connection with one of our former Oblate parishes. Saint Anne's in Digbeth, Birmingham, where he was parish priest from 1849 to 1852.

Love one another
Kirk reflects: "The word to "lay down" - another word for us is "oblate" or "oblation", which is an act of self-giving, selfless love. So Jesus's oblation on the cross of the Good Friday for us is that self-giving love."
Thank you for joining us this morning.
Greetings from Dublin
Thank you for our morning prayer on the Feastday of St John Henry Newman
Great to hear that he was associated with St Anne’s parish in Birmingham where I attended many special Masses for our children with special needs organised by Maureen McCoy - the light of heaven on her soul RIP and where I travelled to Lourdes many times with a little boy called Paul Carroll - the light of heaven on his gentle soul RIP
The miracle that Paul created was he brought 6 of us nurses to help with the children and their parents on pilgrimage to Lourdes during those years at Easter time
There was an Oblate priest in St Anne’s Fr Clarke at that time we attended those special masses
Thank you for sharing our morning prayer and bringing back all those lovely memories
