This a awesome guide. I couldn't get my hands on a 1" crow foot wrench in time for my installation so we just tightened it with a 1" deep socket first; then we attached the hose and tightened the clamp with a tiny ratchet and 7mm socket. It was super simple this way for anyone who doesn't have a crow foot wrench.
I played back this video so many times... the result of this was getting my GetADomTune Cylinder 4 cooling mod installed and burping coolant for the first time in my life. Thanks so much for making this video!
I can't wait until one day you need to either upgrade or change your clutch... because I can only imagine how detailed that install video will be. You are truly the greatest and I am a proud subscriber!!
Such a thorough and well thought out video! Your camera set ups and lighting are so clear...also, love how you labeled all the tools! Thanks 🙏 I really appreciate you making this job easier!
Well done! Its been forever that ive watched an entire video. Your tobe and pitch were on point. Very consistent info, the footage was clear and steady. Really impressive. Easy to follow and easy on the eyes.
I will cash app you 100 bucks for a detailed video on how to remove and installation of the intake manifold. I have seen many videos and yours have been truly amazingly detailed.
I subscribed, you literally saved me from getting soaked in coolent from the bolt that's connected in the block that you place the hose on. I was told I didn't have to drain the coolent.
Exelent video Mostly all TH-camrs don't want to deal with the hassle of having the camera and show everything so they just rush to it I appreciate all the details of the vid . Will be doing this to my 2020 sti.
Thank you for this. Particularly the crow's foot. You are literally the only person that even shows the fastener tightened to the block, let alone properly explain how to do so. I even asked people wtf they used to tighten it. Everyone says an adjustable wrench, channel locks, or vice grips. I have multiple sizes of each but speaking from experience, that steering part in the way makes using those tools not really possible. Now I can break the thing back out and throw it on next coolant flush!
Thanks again for another great video. Though I did the I Build Race Cars version, they’re all pretty much the same. This gave me the confidence to do it myself. Biggest hurdle was finding the 1” crowfoot wrench and then playing around with all the angles to get things tightened down.
Great video, the only part I question is why would you pinch the mod hose off before filling? You'd be holding in air that would then be released when you take the clamp off. Seems counterintuitive.
The hose adds one more path for air bubbles to travel so that's why you pinch it. That said, it is NOT 100% necessary to do, it just might make the burping process marginally longer.
Just did the install yesterday and finished up today. This was an extremely helpful video. Just like your IDoing head unit install. With this one, I had to do it a little differently since, I'm sure you know now, the coolant mod hoses are now bent at a 90 degree angle, I had to screw the barb in by itself then mount the hose. That's pretty much the only difference. I still don't understand why we had to pinch the hose but I did it anyway and after a good 20 min, I didn't get any more bubbles and temps were smack dab where they should be. I will continue to monitor throughout the next week or so and then I'll throw my under cover back on. Thank you for the really informative video.
Phenomenal video, you've got my sub. Incredibly detailed for a job that every subie owner should do, I'll have to recommend this one for anyone who hasn't done this
Excellent video. I have seen like 4 or 5 for the same mod just to see that there is nothing i might be missing, and this one video is the one that is needed. Well spoken, clear views, tools used. 11/10 overall!!!!
Had my 21 sti for almost a year and i got it right before summer ended, so im experiencing my first full summer with the car and today i got to see first hand how my sti would act during 100+ degree weather. I had low throttle response and when i had the ac on and i gently pressed on the gas, itd go to 1100 rpm then go right down to about 700rpm even when my foot is still pressing on the pedal lightly. Did some research and it was just heatsoaked. I want a ic sprayer but dont trust myself to diy it with the wiring. So this may be the next thing ill do the next time i change my coolant. Considering the video is super informative
Loved your video. very detailed, didnt leave anything out and great camera placement. because of your video, i feel pretty confident i can do this on my own.
great video bud. I would suggest a red rubber tip for your test light / visual probe to make it safer from scratching sensitive areas. and also easier to see. All the extra bolts I personally use various types of anti seize and thread lock. Thread lock is super important if you ever expect anything to stay put or 10 k plus Kilometers. last tip, before removing the filler funnel for your coolant, you can squeeze on the rubber hoses a bit to raise the coolant level before plugging the funnel. so that way, you have no spills. Again, great Video, super clean engine too, Beautiful. I bet she's a lot of fun. Cheers
Amazing video bro! Question tho, wouldn’t clamping the cooling mod hose during the burping process create an air pocket in the mod hose? I may have missed something u said but I could be wrong lol
Good Job, thorough to the point, matter of fact and suggesting the right tools such as the coolant refill set up was a great help. I've been wanting to do this mod for a while now and you took out any hesitation that was stopping me from pulling the trigger. Thanks
@@akqjtn You have really taught me a lot!I like the logic and process of your all video very much. You are definitely a good teacher If you teach in school. I try to replace a new Radiator and plan to add this Cooling Mod at the same time, but I am still confusing that dose the Cooling Mod needs to be pinched all the time during the system burping? Or it should be unpinched before the engine starts?
Great video, but I'm not sure why you pinched that new hose during system burp. You created small dead spots around that pinch that are likely to trap air. I think I would either skip that pinch, or remove it at the tail end of the burp
Very digestible instructions thank you! I’m wondering about running the distilled water and draining that before re-adding the coolant. Why didn’t you do it? Is it really necessary? Iv seen videos that recommend it.
Attempting to do it on my 2015 sti but only confusion im having is which heater hose to cut,for me the top hose has a insulation not the bottom one, mabe they just mixed them up when getting the car done but I’m just gonna cut the one connecting to the black metal pipe.Love all your videos by the way never really tempted to work on my car until I found your videos super informative and best shots of every step💯👌🏼
Great video Only issue I had was no heat unless I was giving it gas so I switched my tee fitting to the heater core inlet that allowed me to have heat this past winter. Also a few friends of mine also with bugeyes had this issue. But it works great
Hoping you see this after 2 years great video and will be following as I do my self but question, while burping system when you turned the car on to get the heat on did you first remove the pinch hose clamp that you put on the 4th cooling mod
I am ready to do mine! Only question i have is, when do you remove the hose clamp on the mod tube when burping the system?? And shouldnt we not clamp it so coolant is filled to max capacity and cylinder 4 actually had coolant in to cool it?
I have the 2012 Impreza basic Hatchback 2.0 auto 6-speed paddle shifer trans, just over 100,000k, runs great no issues, should I do this to prove improved performance and reliability,? what do you think my friend,???.. great video,!!!. you are the man..
Hi. Thx for great video. Some users install cooling mod on silver tube, some (like you) on black one. Which pipe is the right one? I have WRX STI 2018. Thx guys.
Great video, I have a question about the aos….when you installed it, was bleeding the cooling system through the bleeder screw on the Iag aos enough to get the air out of the system after install or did you bleed the system just like you did when installing the 4th cylinder cooling mod ?
Great video! Very detailed, I am planning on installing the mod to my wrx 2011, ej 255 engine. I was curious if the install video would apply to my car as well.

Maybe I missed it. But did you mention to turn the heat on full max to make sure it goes into the heater core as well? That would be the only thing I didn't hear you mention.
Good video... does it matter which heater core line I tee into? I know u did the bottom line. But in my car it's in the top heater core line. Is that still ok?
My engine builder, some of us here in the Philippines gets their engine with a condemned heater core (we just don't really need the hearter for the airconditioning), Which line can I use for this mod?
Awesome video man! I just got an AOS, Cylinder 4 mod and KoyoRad to do all at the same time over a long weekend. I’ll definitely be using your videos for my install journey. 2 questions though: any reason you didn’t just tighten the plug to the head without the hose? I figure it would be easier to use a socket wrench than a crows foot. Have you made a radiator install video?
Thank you for an extremely detailed video! Going to do be doing this project soon. Will be doing the IAG V3 AOS system to the car as well. Do you recommend doing 4th cylinder mod first then the AoS? Also might be doing Group N engine mounts too. All day project indeed😅 Thanks again and looking forward to your input!
This particular mod really doesn't have much to do with the AOS so feel free to do them in whatever order you want. My recommendation, however, is to do one at a time to completion, that way there is less of a chance of something being missed.
Question.. The people who are having the heater core issue.. Did they cut the upper hose instead of the lower hose? I bought this kit but honestly I'm not sure I want to install it if I might lose heat in the winter time. I want to know more about this lack of heat issue. Why is this happening to some people ???
I’m proud to say.. I did it. Thank u baby lord Jesus… now spark plugs please
Literally the only video that goes into detail and answered all my questions thanks bro 🙏🏻

Are you pinching the hose from the black to the t fitting? And do you keep I pinched the whole time the car is one getting the air bubbles out ??
I had the same question, if you pinch it doesn't it have the air bubbles trapped?
@boost & shutter
Hoping you see this after 2 years great video and will be following as I do my self but question, while burping system when you turned the car on to get the heat on did you first remove the pinch hose clamp that you put on the 4th cooling mod
Great walkthrough, wonder if this violates warranty
When you fill the coolent. Or burt the system. And when you start the car. You pinch the hose the entire time ? Thank you.
This is how to make a "how to" video. Extremely well done.
1 year update ?
Did the temps drop a little ?

Is there an alternative to the gasket maker on the hose going into the head maybe some kind of crush washer like on an oil drain?
I have a question for you on this mod after you installed it did you heater start blowing cooled air in the winter or is it good to go?
Amazing detail 👌. You made this look so easy. Ty I feel comfortable doing this myself now
