    Oh those cats were so cute! I take care of all the ferals in my neighborhood. One of them really started to like me a lot and yep, I took her in. She hit it off with my cat and now we're one big, happy family. :-)

    Brian, just want to say that Marvy and I really enjoy your videos. No drama or "one crisis after another." You mainly focus on where you are and where you are going. A great balance of scenery, routine, and information in a well produced manner. No gimmicks, click-bait, or painting a false picture of "the life." My only suggestion is that you change your salsa to a habañero based sauce. ;-) We have been living in Mexico for about five years but in Sept will be "on the road" in the States again. Hopefully our paths will cross.

    I really would love to be part of a tight knit caravan crew. This way I could travel around cross country without my obsessive anxiety.
    I wish the best for everyone and that the caravans are a screaming success for all 😃

      I would like to do the same but I’m also afraid of traveling alone. Because of braking down and those issues.

    Brian, I just love your videos. Since my wife and I bought our new camper van 3 plus weeks ago, we've dived into a TH-cam shuffle of everything RV related and you, by far, are the one I've subscribed to that I look forward to getting an update on the most. I'm assuming the first two campgrounds you were at were freebies? Just really cool for us to log these weekly as prospects for us, when we hit the road. God bless and have a great day.

  • @cantecleer
    @cantecleer 6 ปีที่แล้ว +13

    RE: the steep grade and hot brakes, are you shifting into lower gears during those steep down grades? Shifting out of overdrive, or even into 2nd or 1st, allows the engine to brake and reduces the wear on your brakes and rotors.

    • @cantecleer
      @cantecleer 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@Jj-gi2uv Fair point. Since Brian's rig is a bit older, he should probably ask Bill (from Economic Refugees) or somebody else with a lot of mechanical knowledge.
      I also live in AZ and know all about going down those steep grades. I used to commute from Phoenix to Flagstaff when I was in Grad school. I used my brakes some, but would also downshift on some of the really steep parts to have a little more control and keep my brakes from getting too hot.
      One thing to consider... when brakes get hot like that, they can fail or lose their effectiveness, so it's dangerous to run them hot like that. Also, a Corolla is a LOT lighter than what Brian's driving, so while you might get away with using your brakes only, it might be a lot more iffy for somebody driving a van packed with stuff.
      I'd personally rather drain and fill my transmission fluid a little more regularly (not flush!) than have my brakes not work right on some of those steep hills. Also, brakes getting hot like that will warp the rotors and replacing rotors isn't any cheaper than just a basic drain and fill of transmission fluid.
      Also, I'm not a mechanic either, just my two cents. Hope Brian contacts people like Bill and gets their opinion. That guy would know a lot about this kind of stuff considering he's driving that giant RV around and worked on motorcycles for a living.

    She is a sweetie. We are going to have her scanned for a chip today.
    We will find her a good home if we cant find her owners.
    Right now she is being well fed and spoiled.
    Love your videos!

    When I worked on the waterfront I had a herd of feral cats. If I got to the kittens right when the adults gave them the boot, they became tame enough to jump in my lap. If someone else came up they we're gone. Never 100% tame.
    Very good of you to be helping others.

    Dear Brian, I enjoy your adventures & your thoughtful demeanor. Thanx for being kind to the cats. I loved a sweet cat that lived under my house for 9 yrs. She disappeared & soon we saw mousies in the house [in lg. city]. I welcome some feral & abandoned cats. Of course I feed them well--when they're not hungry they are not going to catch birds. They don't even kill
    the rats, they just scare them off.

      Luckily, cats still retain strong hunting and survival instints, and there are more mice and lizards around there than you can shake a stick at. They are in a pride, which is another instinct, and they are free. I reckon the cats love it. Cats always make it clear, they don't need people. LOL,

      Hopefully someone will borrow a Hart trap from the local Humane Society to TNR them. Un-neutered cats fight more and end up with bad infections that can eventually kill them, not to mention the number of kittens they produce, it's not all a Disney cartoon.

      Likely no rabbits either. My cat was born as a feral kitten underneath my house. She's got 4 little rabbits in the last 2 and a half weeks. Including one last night. It became such common occurence that I put down lino on my bedroom floor to make it easier to wipe up the blood stains.

    I enjoyed the overview of Jones Water. It looks like a nice little place to stay on the way to Tonto National Forest and it's free. Hopefully now that you're getting a break you'll have some more time to explore the National Forests. I don't plan to be on a tight schedule when I hit the road.

    Love your videos.. When you stopped at the side of the road, did you climb up to get that beautiful view? Oouuuu... And the sunset..... Wow... Perfect..... Thanks for sharing.. I'm assuming that someone left/lost their 🐈 cat .... and now they're growing in numbers.. Nice of you to feed them.. Be brave, humble and blessed..👋🏽

    Could tell if any of the cats had the tip of an ear cut off. That’s how a wild cat is marked here in Mississippi

      Same in Georgia, tipped ear for a fixed feral cat
