    Yep..first timers should do the hop on hop off bus.. much easier and a better over view of the whole island 😉

    I always tell people to use the bus. Biking is great for about half an hour….

    I've seen a few of these types of videos & this is one of the better ones, really well shot, captured the fabulous scenery well and caught the vibe - very nice

    I was 13 when I last rode around Rotto. It was a killer then. And no water along the way either. I do remember those bloody long inclines though. These were the days when the only options were staying in a tent at tentland. Those were wild days. Also fresh cream buns at the Rotto bakery were delicious.

    • @KJandSarah
      @KJandSarah  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thankfully we brought along plenty of water, but it is definitely killer!

    Need to ride clockwise, it's all about wind direction and sheltered water. My pick is Salmon Bay about 300m off shore.

    Glad you enjoyed. As a local from Freo who has been going to Rotto almost every year for about 25 years, there is no better place to be. Most beautiful beaches on the planet. The hills can be a nightmare, but I’m used to them.

      Definitely amazing and definitely has some great beaches! Loved our time there

      Also, there is NO way to avoid the hills. That’s just the Rotto experience.

      Also, going on the winter is not great for snorkeling. November or May is the best time to go

      Depends if you ride a lot or not.Not to bad overall but over the whole day mixed with swimming,snorkeling and fairly warm weather it most certainly will tire you out. A few days on Rottnest is the way to go where it's so relaxing and you take your time getting around !

    Checkout little and big Salmon Bay's on the southern side of the island for the best snorkelling.

    • @joeldsilva9829
      @joeldsilva9829 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also it's best to swim on the southern side of the island in the morning and the northern side in the afternoon went the sea breeze hits:)

    Snorkeling around Perth is not that good, but there are some great dive spots around Rotto. The limestone has some good size caves and swim throughs.

    Perth local here. Just found your channel. When I’m in the US, of course I tip as that’s your system. I was wondering if you guys do as we do and not tip when in Australia? Or is it something your so used to doing your always thinking about it? All the best on your adventures and enjoy our beautiful country.

    • @KJandSarah
      @KJandSarah  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We always research best practices/norms of every country we visit before we get there! So in the case of Australia we didn’t tip in places like we normally would in the US

    Ningaloo Reef in the north of W.A has the best snorkelling. It's a hell of a trek though, you might not have time for a road trip but if you're prepared to fly it's absolutely worth it. Better than the Great Barrier Reef in my opinion.

    • @KJandSarah

    or Exmouth, snorkling off the beach unlike GBR where one has to take a boat to see stuff. However, both places are hundredsif not thousands of km away, this is Straaaalia man.

      @@KJandSarah what was your comparison of magnetic island and Rottnest island? Rottnest has incredible beaches imo wheras magnetic has a more tropical vibe

    • @KJandSarah
      @KJandSarah  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@FPLMattDay totally agree! Magnetic Island is also a lot bigger and had a lot to do, but the beaches on Rottnest are nicer in our opinion!

      @@KJandSarah Rottnest beaches are incredible to think that’s a ferry ride from where people live in there suburbs to which you will notice if you leave from the Hillary’s ferry terminals. Did you make it to salmon bay?

    I highly recommend you buy probiotics 50 billion from chemist warehouse pharmacy in Perth and apple cider vinegar taking 10 ml after meal which will significantly reduce any chance of upset stomach or food poisoning.

    As a sandgroper living in Perth, I find Rottnest overated, and overpriced for the average family to afford, I spent a lot of weekends in my younger days ferrying over with tents and gear, fantastic times. Shame it's now more for the rich. But thanks anyway.
