Relapse is easily Eminem's most underrated album. Since the release of the follow-up album, Recovery, a cult following has slowly built behind Relapse, as it serves as the final stand of the old school Slim Shady. However, what people fail to realize is that Relapse had a planned sequel, Relapse 2, which was cancelled for various reasons. In this video, I address what happened to Eminem's most infamous Cancelled album!

I would love to see more Eminem content from this channel. Glad to see someone else who appreciates Relapse and the Refill EP as much as I do.
Relapse was an album that I absolutely hated when I first heard it. I thought the album was dog shit other than Crack a Bottle and Insane.
Then, I watched the Slim Shady Retrospective about Relapse, and learned that all the tracks were produced by Dre, so I went back and relistened to it, and absolutely fell in love with Hello, Same Song and Dance, We Made You, Stay Wide Awake, Old Times Sake, Deja Vu and Underground. It's the last Shady album, and it's honestly fucking great.

I don't recall Encore being a "terrible" album.
It's far from a "bad album" but definitely a bad "eminem album". It's easily the weakest (apart from revival) in his discography because although it did have a few great songs, it was plagued with lame uninspiring filler tracks like "fack" and "big weenie"...etc. it is what it is..

I remember when Relapse 2 was being talked about in 2009. I remember a few of his collaborators were saying it was going to change rap and then one day through twitter or something, he announced it was cancelled, people waited for a few hours, or days and then he tweeted Recovery and everyone guessed it was a new album

Sure, Syllables and No Apologies were set to be on the album, but G.O.A.T. and Wee Wee were also supposed to be on there, so I almost try to avoid looking at it.

Relapse used to be one of my least favorite Eminem albums but I recently listened to it again and I saw that it had a lot of hidden gems. Music Box, My Darling, Hell Breaks Loose, Deja Vu and a lot more so it’s actually a very underrated album.
I hated Relapse the first time I heard it, then I went back to it after Revival left a bad taste in my mouth, and it blew my fucking mind the second time around
Relapse is honestly Em's most skilled album
I'm very happy that relapse 2 was scrapped because recovery is still my favourite album ever so that being created because of something that wasn't made I'll take

I like every single album. Im a Shady fan Eminem fan and marshal mathers fan i love it all in it's diversity , not many goats can say they have 2 separate fan bases. If it was any other artist they get chewed up n spit, but this man has 2 rap names besides his real name, so he can get away with making pop . Then making scitzo murder rap. Then songs everyone cries to / relates to

I love Relapse and I would love for him to release Relapse 2. Unfortunately he still thinks it was a bad album. Or maybe he just doesn't like the accents...I'm not sure. A lot of people have revisited Relapse and changed their minds about it.
Me. Youre talking about me. I didnt like relapse at the time because i grew tired of eminem at the time. Relapse was not a comeback album. It was a transition album why it got so much hate. When im gone hurt him and his popularity and people forgot about him. Relapse got his foot in the door. Recovery brought him back. When i go back and listen to relapse now i enjoy it more than i did recovery

One of the most unique songs on Relapse is Drop The Bomb On Em. Believe me I know he has written a lot of braggadocious music in his career, but something about his lyrics and beat choice. It's one of the most head bopping hard hitting songs he's ever made. "the lyrics you wield equals zero to a hero's shield" man so overlooked.
It just kills me that one of the best albums ever has been recorded, but it may never come out..

Encore wasn't that bad it had some good songs on it, and Relapse had hella good production but the accents got a bit annoying.

Dre reported back to Los Angeles to work on his infamous detox album that he never put out! I still would like to hear relapse 2 even if it wasnt very good. I bet em still had some clever ideas in there all of his music does even his encore album.
Relapse was a great album it was a dark take on Eminem coming back but it all going wrong and him just murdering everyone it sounds joyless because it's literally him being a drugged out psychopath
The problem with Recovery is that Eminem started becoming everything he was against. His music was extremely pop. Like "Love The Way You Lie" and "I Wont Back Down". From there on he was never the same. And now he makes songs with Ed Sheeran. He became everything he hated and it's sad.

Great video. I wish Relapse 2 actually saw the light of day as I really enjoy Relapse. I know that many people enjoy it and it would have been nice to have the second part to Relapse we were promised prior to the release of Relapse. I will say that I’m someone who actually enjoys Encore, ever since I got it back in 2004. I know he was high on practically the whole album, but Eminem’s album where he’s practically high the whole time is better than some people who sing or rap when they’re high. The album needed to be reworked due to it being leaked prior to its November release, but I think it’s pretty good considering the circumstances. I think the structure was also quite a bit of a change as the comedic songs on Encore are all in the middle of the album, whereas the comedic songs before they were spread out between serious songs on his previous albums. It was a bit more apparent as to where the comedic tone songs were as the serious songs were at the book ends of the album. I find Encore has a lot of replay value, but that’s just me. Again, excellent video.
You know, there are people out there re-creating the album with leaks, song from Recovery that where supposed to be on Relapse 2 etc... There is a hour TH-cam video of the recreation, very epic.
One thing I realize about Eminem is that no matter what his music sounds like, a certain part of his fan base will enjoy it.
Wether it be encore, relapse, recovery, or mmlp we all enjoy it.

He recorded over 300 songs within 6 months during the relapse phase. He was also gonna release King Mathers in 2006 but he gave up because he was too high during recording.
Think you missed that he hated the reception of Relapse so he made Recovery which changed the pace of everything.

Listen to The Eminem Show, front to back, on really good speakers or headphones. Then, do the same thing with Encore, and come back and tell me that the two albums are on par with each other.
Hell, do it with the Mathers LP or the Shady LP, the first three albums are miles ahead of Encore, as are the three that came after it.

Encore is such a coin flip, it has some incredible songs but also some shit ones. Toy soldiers and mockingbird are both amazing.
It took me a long time to appreciate relapse, but it’s a pretty great album. If you listen to the songs eminem was doing from 2006-2007 unreleased and released you’d see how much he improved and how much relapse was a breath of fresh air for his career. Relapse saw the return to form so to speak for Eminem and recovery was the icing on the cake that not only saw Eminem at top top shape, but making music with actual meaning.
on a level, i personally thought relapse was dope i liked the dark pshyco and drug theme i thougjt it was sinister id of loved relapse 2 but thank the heavens for recovery

LoL Encore and Revival aside. I hated Revival on Arrival. But its solid...I know have a special place in my heart for Revival. Dear Eminem if you ever see this comment. I just want you to know its okay to melow out and evolve if its where your heart is because at the end of the day music is heart and soul...thats what people connect with even more so than sick bars. Personally MMLP 2 is my best Em record to date.2021 yall..but i appreciate everything he puts out...i want him to follow his own creative instincts more so than what people react to as counter intuitive as that may sound. MMLP2 and Revival have that almost Superheroic aspect thats sadly lacking in Kamikaze and Music to be mudured by. Still a Stan either way

Encore isn’t a terrible album. In this day and age it is considered a classic, every song on that album has replay value. It just isn’t as good as MMLP or TES still a great album though. I hate when people say it’s horrible..
