  • thank you for watching! special shout-out to my DG and my friends yuqian, terry, and fedra!!!
    this year, i went to fish camp at texas a&m! fish camp is typically “an aggie’s first tradition” at a&m, and it’s a huge thing-there are 8 sessions with nearly 1000 people at each session! i went to session A, the first session of fish camp. if you’re confused about the “camps,” don’t worry-i was too. basically, at each session, we are split up into “camps” by randomly assorted colors. for example, i was in camp yellow, aka camp slaughter. it was called camp slaughter because mr. jd slaughter, a texas a&m grad, was the namesake for our camp. another example would be camp swerc, which was the blue camp (i think). then, within our camps, we’re split up randomly into even smaller groups called discussion groups (DGs) with about 15 people in each, whom we spend a lot of time with over the 3 days. i really enjoyed fish camp, but as you’ll see in the video, it’s only worth going if you fully participate in it. be enthusiastic and try to be in the front or center of the crowd! you’ll get the most out of it by participating.
    all in all, i enjoyed fish camp, and i hope you enjoy it too!

    That was awesome! My daughter, who’s a 4th generation Aggie, was one of the fish camp counselors for your camp! Looks like y’all had a blast! Gig ‘em! 😉👍🏼

    What they tell you goes on at fish camp and what actually goes on at A&M are two very different things. They should give more practical advice at camp, especially relating to getting off on the right foot academically. But it is still fun, even for introverts, and also a bit reassuring to go to campus knowing a few people.

      @@SarahVoon Thank you! Also I got told College station is a pretty boring city and that’s why some people don’t attend A&M. Is college station really that boring or are people overreacting?

    • @SarahVoon
      @SarahVoon  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      People are definitely overreacting! To be honest, I grew up with that stigma too. Coming here proved all of it wrong. I have so much fun here with my friends and we have plenty of options every time we hang out. ♡

      @@SarahVoon Thank you! Any overall college advice? Again i’m a sophomore in HS going into my junior year.

    • @SarahVoon
      @SarahVoon  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      oooh exciting! most important thing right now is to focus on doing well on your SATs, AP exams, and PSAT! you can start touring colleges in your junior year, but by studying hard now, you’ll open a lot of doors for yourself and develop habits that will help you through college :)

    • @SarahVoon

      you’ll be okay!! there are some of those, but there’s a lot more of other things like skits, really getting to know each other, and having fun around the campsite!

    I really want to go to a&m, what was your GPA? and do you remember your class rank? (i’m currently a freshman in Highschool so i am trying to figure out what classes i need to take so i can reach my goal :D)

      @Wellrounded2349 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’m going to be a incoming freshman this fall and I had a 3.9 gpa and took pre-ap and ap classes. It just depends on how competitive your major is

    • @jac19
      @jac19 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      for me i was in top 10 of my class and got automatic admission into any public texas university- but a lot of my friends going were around 3.8, mainly just taking AP and dual credit classes helped add extra points to my GPA and showed college readiness. if you dont think having a GOA is likely or school is a struggle for you (which is totally fine and understandable!) then focus on volunteering experience- its a big staple in a&m core values

    • @annabelmccoy2071
      @annabelmccoy2071 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      i had a 4.46 and took mostly AP classes. for the business school i applied the first day it opened bc the admissions are rolling. i was an auto admit bc i was in the top 10% of my class. just focus on taking AP/honors classes!!!!

      Yes! Howdy week, MSC open house, and more are great ways to learn more and get involved on campus. Reach out to the transfer office at A&M for more information.
